Abstract

: Learning must be able to develop knowledge, skills, and mindsets so that the graduates produced have attitudes, abilities and knowledge that are integrated and skilled in life. One way to achieve learning can be done through habits of mind  because the success of learning is strongly influenced by   habits of mind. The purpose of this study is to as certain how habits of mind and cognitive learning outcomes in biology are affected by learning process oriented guided inquiry learning  with blended learning support. A pretest-postest design wih a non-equivalent control group was employed in this study. The trial ran from February to June 2022. Utilizing the habits of mind questionnaire, pupils’ thought patterns were assessed. Essay tests are also used to evaluate the results of cognitive learning. In this study, google form, LMS, and google meet were used for data collection. Statistical Product and Service Solutions software version 23 is used for data analysis and the results of covariance analysis (ANCOVA) showed a p value < 0,005, meaning that POGIL-supported blended learning can empower habits of mind and cognitive learning outcomes in biology learning. There is a substantial difference between the outcomes of the least significant difference and increasing habits of mind and cognitive learning outcomes. As a result, POGIL with moodle support can be used to enhance students’ habits of mind and cognitive learning results in biology classes.

Abstract

Climate change has felt by all individual now. Its impact is massive change in human daily life across countries. Therefore, it is necessary to assess students, as a youth, climate change perception. This study aimed to analyze the tenth grader students’ climate change perception. This study is a quantitative design, with survey method. Using questioners, we were collected 283 high school students in Malang, Indonesia. All students are willing to giving their answer to the questions. Students were asked to rate the items based on the quality and relevance to the type of climate change perception that these items were supposed to assess on a scale from 1 (Terrible) to 5 (Excellent). The five items for each type of climate change perception were selected with 25 item questions in total. Five categories are: 1) reality (Q1-Q5), 2) causes (Q6-Q10), 3) valence of consequences (Q11-Q15), 4) spatial distances (Q16-Q20), 5) temporal distances (Q21-Q25). This study reveals that students have a belief that climate change is real. Some students have used to doing good habits to reduce energy use and have the will to tackle the crisis. Students also believe that climate change was caused by the human activities rather than natural phenomenon. Students have a good understanding of climate change, but there are still many students who have not yet taken their action to tackle climate change. From the result, we briefly argue that student’s climate should be integrated in school learning in a form of climate change education to ensuring them taking their climate action in daily life.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of PBL integrated with Igya Ser Hanjob's local wisdom on students' problem solving skills in the Conservation Biology course. The sample for this research was Biology Education Semester VII students taking Conservation Biology courses, totaling 48 students, namely class A (experimental class) with 24 students and class B (control class) with 24 students. This type of research is quasi-experimental research using a nonequivalent control group design. The instruments used in this research were description tests and questionnaires. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics which had previously met the requirements for normality and homogeneity, then the Anacova test was carried out using the SPSS IMB 20 program. The results of the research showed 1) there was an increase in the average score of students' problem solving skills after implementing PBL containing local wisdom 2 ) there is a difference in student problem solving skills between the group of students who took part in PBL containing Igya ser hanjob local wisdom and the group of students who took part in conventional learning as evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that PBL learning integrated with Igya Ser Hanjob's local wisdom can improve students' problem solving skills. Keywords: PBL, Problem solving skills, Igya ser hanjop, Local wisdom, Biology Conservation

Abstract

Increasingly tight competition in the 21st century requires students to be able to think well. Students are required to have critical thinking to be able to compete superiorly in increasingly fierce competition in the 21st century. One innovation in biodiversity learning that can be adopted is the development of electronic biodiversity practicum instructions in inquiry learning. The development procedure used consists of five stages, including: 1) assessment/analysis which consists of two phases, namely needs assessment and front-end analysis; 2) design (design); 3) development (development); 4) implementation (implementation); and 5) evaluation. Biodiversity electronic practicum instructions after being validated have very valid validity and are effective in improving critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a PBL-based e-module containing local wisdom that is valid, practical and effective for improving students' critical thinking skills, problem solving and environmental attitudes. This type of research is research and development (Research & Development) using the Lee & Owens (2004) model which consists of 5 stages, namely assessment and analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects used in this research were 36 students in class X.B and 36 students in class X.E at SMA Negeri 1 Narmada. The research instruments used consisted of expert validation sheets, practicality assessment sheets, and tests of students' critical thinking skills, problem solving, and environmental attitude questionnaires. The research results show: 1) the e-module meets the validity requirements based on the assessment of material experts with an average validity of 100% which is in the very valid category, media and teaching materials experts are 98% in the very valid category, and biology education practitioners are 99% in the category very valid. The e-module developed meets the practicality requirements based on the results of trials per person, namely 89% in the very practical category, small group trials, namely 91% in the very practical category and field trials, namely 89% in the very practical category; and 2) test the effectiveness of the e-module using the ANCOVA hypothesis test showing that the e-module is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills, problem solving and environmental attitudes. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the PBL-based e-module contains the local wisdom of Sesaot Village in the form of using plants as medicinal plants and their conservation efforts meet the criteria of being valid, practical and effective for improving students' critical thinking skills, problem solving and environmental attitudes.

Abstract

This article analyzes the impact of neoliberal policies on social welfare in developing countries, focusing on the implementation of free market principles, privatization, deregulation, and a reduced role of the state in the economy. While these policies aim to improve economic efficiency and growth, this research finds that neoliberal implementation in developing countries often exacerbates social inequality and reduces the poor's access to basic services such as health, education and social protection. The research identifies negative impacts such as public sector privatization that increases costs for low-income earners, deregulation that makes workers more vulnerable to exploitation, and social budget cuts that reduce the quality of services for marginalized groups. Although some countries experienced economic growth as a result of these policies, the unequal distribution of economic benefits led to increased social inequality. This article suggests the need for more inclusive and sustainable economic policies that can mitigate the negative impacts of neoliberalism, as well as strengthen social security and access to basic services in developing countries.
