Abstract

Musculoskeletal diseases and pain (MSDs) is commonly occurred among oral health therapist due to improper working positions. This condition can lead to work-related accidents, lower job satisfaction, and increased healthcare costs. In order to address this issue, ergonomic interventions encompassing cognitive, physical, and organizational aspects have been recommended to prevent the occurrence of MSDs. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of ergonomic interventions, specifically using the "EI" model, in alleviating MSDs among oral health therapists.  The quality assessment related to pain utilized a validated standardized instrument. A purposive sample of 64 oral health therapists, working as dental assistants in Semarang, Indonesia, participated in the study. Data were gathered through a structured questionnaire incorporating the Nordic Body Map to identify the presence of pain. Additionally, a physiotherapist conducted an objective examination, assessing pain levels using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The results of the pain complaints test, as indicated by the Nordic Body Map, revealed a significant p-value of < 0.001, with ∆ mean = 2.19 for the intervention group and 0.91 for the control group. Similarly, the pain level test using the Visual Analog Scale demonstrated a p-value < 0.001, with ∆ mean = 30.38 for the intervention group and 14.91 for the control group. This suggests that the ergonomic model "EI" was significantly effective in reducing complaints of MSDs among oral health therapists.

Abstract

Individuals with diabetes mellitus are more likely to experience acute and chronic health complications including oral diseases. However, there are still many of them who do not carry out routine controls and do not record the history of examination results, resulting in a lack of monitoring of their health. Information systems in the health sector can be utilized in managing health information as an effort to monitor risk factors that allow complications of oral and dental disease. In addition, there is no information system that focuses on monitoring dental health in patients with diabetes mellitus. The development of SIP DM-DENT Monitoring is focused on monitoring general health and dental health in patients with diabetes mellitus. This study aims to produce SIP DM-DENT Monitoring for people with diabetes mellitus that is feasible in monitoring health and providing health recommendations based on the results of their health checks, especially in controlling blood sugar and dental health. This research combines descriptive and analytical types of research called R&D to develop a new product output with the stages of information gathering, design making, expert validation, product testing and product results. The data collected is primary data using interview questionnaires and Linkert questionnaires. Sampling using purposive sampling technique obtained a sample of 35 respondents. The data obtained were analyzed using ICC test and descriptive statistics. The average result of the expert validation assessment was 85.76 with a decent category. Abstract

The development of essential oil extraction techniques has seen significant advancements with the introduction of Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction (UAE) technology. UAE is known for its ability to accelerate chemical processes and improve the efficiency of essential oil extraction. However, to achieve optimal extraction quality and yield, precise control over various process parameters is required. This study focuses on enhancing the UAE extraction process by integrating modified features, including a temperature sensor, speed sensor, frequency regulator, temperature controller, stirrer, and cooler, into the extraction apparatus. Objective of this research is to develop a UAE-based extraction apparatus with advanced features that optimize the pre-treatment extraction process of essential oils. The research employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach to design and develop the UAE-based extraction apparatus. The apparatus is then tested to evaluate its performance in optimizing the extraction process. Experimental trials are conducted to assess the impact of each feature on the efficiency and quality of the extracted essential oils. The integration of the temperature sensor, speed sensor, frequency regulator, temperature controller, stirrer, and cooler allowed for better control over the extraction conditions, leading to higher yield and improved quality of the essential oils. The apparatus demonstrated its ability to consistently produce essential oils with higher purity and active ingredient concentrations compared to conventional methods. In conclusion, the development of the modified UAE-based extraction apparatus proves to be an effective solution for optimizing the essential oil extraction process
