Abstract

Flipbook in elementary schools serves as an interactive medium that helps present learning materials attractively and strengthens students’ understanding. This study aims to examine the results of developing a Flipbook pocketbook based on North Sumatran local wisdom, which is feasible, practical, and effective in fostering tolerant attitudes among students at SDN 101802 Namorambe. The research employed a Research and Development approach using the Borg and Gall model, which includes the stages of identifying problems, designing and developing products, and testing products. The feasibility of the media was assessed by experts in content, design, and language, all of whom provided evaluations that placed the product in the highly feasible category. The practicality of the Flipbook pocketbook was tested through trials involving students of different levels, and the results showed that the product met the criteria of practicality in both individual and small group settings. The effectiveness of the Flipbook was evaluated through pre-test and post-test activities conducted in two elementary schools, which demonstrated a clear improvement in students’ tolerance attitudes. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the developed Flipbook pocketbook, grounded in North Sumatran local wisdom, is feasible, practical, and effective in fostering tolerance among elementary school students.   Abstrak Flipbook di sekolah dasar berfungsi sebagai media interaktif yang membantu menyajikan materi pembelajaran secara menarik dan memperkuat pemahaman siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hasil pengembangan buku saku Flipbook berbasis kearifan lokal Sumatera Utara yang layak, praktis, dan efektif dalam menumbuhkan sikap toleransi pada siswa di SDN 101802 Namorambe. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Penelitian dan Pengembangan dengan model Borg dan Gall, yang meliputi tahapan identifikasi masalah, perancangan dan pengembangan produk, dan uji coba produk. Kelayakan media dinilai oleh para ahli dalam konten, desain, dan bahasa, yang semuanya memberikan evaluasi yang menempatkan produk dalam kategori sangat layak. Kepraktisan buku saku Flipbook diuji melalui uji coba yang melibatkan siswa dari berbagai tingkat, dan hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa produk tersebut memenuhi kriteria kepraktisan baik dalam pengaturan individu maupun kelompok kecil. Efektivitas Flipbook dievaluasi melalui kegiatan pra-tes dan pasca-tes yang dilakukan di dua sekolah dasar, yang menunjukkan peningkatan yang jelas dalam sikap toleransi siswa. Berdasarkan hasil temuan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa buku saku Flipbook berbasis kearifan lokal Sumatera Utara yang dikembangkan layak, praktis, dan efektif untuk memperkuat toleransi siswa Sekolah Dasar. Abstract

Pancasila Education learning on Socio-Cultural Diversity material is still dominated by conventional teacher-centered methods so that students' active participation and critical thinking skills have not developed optimally. This study aims to develop the BERACA interactive learning media and test its feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students' critical thinking skills. The novelty of this research lies in the development of the BERACA media that integrates problem-solving-based challenges, interactive activities, and the context of socio-cultural diversity in one learning medium to encourage active student involvement during the learning process. The study used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests involving expert validators, education practitioners, and 30 students. The results of the study indicate that the BERACA media meets the criteria of very feasible based on expert assessments, receives very good responses from teachers and students, and effectively improves critical thinking skills as indicated by the increase in learning outcomes and student completion levels after using the media. Thus, BERACA media can be a learning innovation that supports the transformation of Pancasila Education learning from passive learning to more active, contextual learning, and oriented towards developing students' critical thinking skills. These findings imply that BERACA media can be an alternative for teachers in creating more innovative, meaningful Pancasila Education learning that is in line with the demands of 21st-century learning.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of empowerment through non-formal education as a supplement to the formal education system One form of non-formal education is the Damar Learning Center, which is managed by the Damar Youth Organization. This study aims to determine the role of the youth organization in implementing community empowerment through the Learning Center in Marindal II Village and to identify the challenges faced in the implementation of the Learning Center program. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the Damar Youth Organization has played a role in social empowerment within community empowerment through the Learning Center program. This role includes disseminating innovations to the community through non-formal learning activities, encouraging community participation, serving as a liaison between the community and the government, conveying community aspirations, and contributing to improving the quality of life and social welfare in the field of education. This program has successfully achieved its community empowerment goal of better education. In addition, the program’s implementation also demonstrates the application of empowerment principles, such as the active involvement of participants, the positive impact felt, and support from various stakeholders. However, in its implementation, the Rumah Belajar program is not without various challenges, including time constraints faced by the Karang Taruna Damar management, limited human resources, limited funding, as well as obstacles arising from the students themselves, such as declining motivation to learn and peer influence. To address these issues, Karang Taruna Damar has undertaken various efforts, including direct engagement with participants and planning to develop the program into an independent foundation to support the sustainability of the Rumah Belajar program.

Abstract

This research is motivated by fifth-grade students' low critical thinking skills, driven by conventional one-way learning and normative teaching modules that lack local culture-based innovation. Therefore, this study aims to develop and analyze the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of a Democracy Education Teaching Module based on Meuseuraya local wisdom to enhance students' critical thinking skills. The methodology employed is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, involving 20 fifth-grade students as field trial subjects. Data were collected through observations, questionnaires, and critical thinking tests. The results showed that the developed module met high validity criteria, scoring 95.2% with material experts, 88.2% with design experts, and 82% with linguists. Practicality reached 92% based on teacher responses and 99.8% based on student responses. Furthermore, the module improved students' critical thinking skills, as shown by classical completeness rising significantly from 67% to 85% and a moderate N-Gain score of 0.55. In conclusion, this module is highly feasible, practical, and effective for elementary school students. This study suggests that integrating local wisdom into teaching modules can foster active, context-based learning and strengthen critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the character-strengthening program through the “Bangunlah Jiwa dan Raganya” project module in shaping anti-bullying behavior among students at Methodist 7 Private Junior High School, Medan. The main focus of this research is to determine the extent of students’ understanding of the values embedded in the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) within the context of anti-bullying, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of the program in changing students’ attitudes toward bullying behavior. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted in three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The findings reveal that the P5 program, through the “Bangunlah Jiwa dan Raganya” project module, has proven effective in fostering students’ empathetic, caring, and courageous behavior in rejecting bullying. Students’ understanding of the project theme also improved, particularly in balancing physical and mental aspects. Teachers play a crucial role as facilitators, role models, and motivators, although challenges remain in terms of limited student motivation and lack of parental support. Therefore, this program makes a significant contribution to bullying prevention efforts in schools.
