Abstract

With the development of information technology, akery and cake MSMEs are encouraged to adapt to social media as a marketing medium and increase word of mouth. The purpose of this study is to measure social media marketing activities and word of mouth in influencing purchasing decisions for bakery and cake MSME products. A descriptive approach was used in describing the data and research findings. Structural Equation Modeling analysis was used to measure the relationship between social media and word of mouth variables with 120 respondents who visited bakery and cake MSMEs. The results showed a significant relationship between social media marketing activities and word of mouth on purchasing decisions for bakery and cake MSME products in Landak Regency. Social media plays an important role in disseminating visual content to attract customer attention, while word of mouth occurs naturally by consumers in direct interaction with their family, friends and family regarding their experiences after buying. The findings provide important implications for MSME marketing strategies, indicating the need for greater focus on optimising marketing through social media and not neglecting word of mouth to increase consumer appeal and trust.

Abstract

Independent oil palm farmers in Landak Regency face challenges in managing production inputs, such as suboptimal fertilization schedules, types, and dosages, which may affect productivity and technical efficiency. This study aims to analyze the technical efficiency of independent oil palm farming in Landak Regency using a stochastic frontier production function approach. The study employed a quantitative approach with a purposive sampling technique, involving 50 independent oil palm farmers. Data were analyzed using the stochastic frontier production function with Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE). The average technical efficiency of independent oil palm farming in Landak Regency was 0.921 (92.1%). Input variables such as land area, dolomite fertilizer, and labor had a significant positive effect on production, while NPK fertilizer and herbicide did not show significant effects. Inefficiency factors such as farmer age, education, and experience were not statistically significant. Independent oil palm farming in Landak Regency is technically efficient. To enhance productivity, farmers are encouraged to optimize the use of land, dolomite fertilizer, and labor, while improving NPK fertilizer dosage and pesticide application practices.

Abstract

This study's objective is to analyze the factors influencing the income of cayenne pepper farming in Rasau Jaya Tiga Village, Rasau Jaya District, Kubu Raya Regency. The background highlights the importance of the horticultural sector, particularly cayenne pepper, which has high economic value but is vulnerable to significant price fluctuations, thereby affecting farmers’ income. The research employed a quantitative descriptive method with a census approach, involving 52 farmers as respondents. Questionnaires, interviews, and observations were used to gather primary data, while relevant institutions provided secondary data. Data analysis was conducted using the Cobb-Douglas Unit Output Price (UOP) function. The results showed that 74.50% of income variation was influenced by seed price, lime price, organic fertilizer price, NPK fertilizer price, fungicide price, insecticide price, and labor wages. Simultaneously, all variables had a positive and significant effect on income; however, partially, only lime price, NPK fertilizer price, and labor wages had significant effects. NPK fertilizer had a positive effect, while lime price and labor wages negatively affected income. In contrast, seed price, organic fertilizer price, fungicide price, and insecticide price had no significant effect. The study concludes that optimizing the use of NPK fertilizer and managing lime and labor costs are crucial to improving farmers’ income.

Abstract

Farmer regeneration in Indonesia is faced with severe challenges, and it is predicted that this may lead to a decrease in the national food production ability. Therefore, strategic effort is required to facilitate the regeneration process. In this study, we aimed to analyze the dynamics of farmer regeneration in sub-urban villages and the determinants of the farming performance of a young farmer. The research method employed a mixed approach between qualitative and quantitative perspectives. In the quantitative method, we purposively selected 51 young farmers as samples for interview. The qualitative approach was used to explain the dynamics of regeneration behavior, whereas the quantitative approach based on Spearman correlation was used to analyze a few critical variables, which exhibited a strong correlation with a young farmer farming performance. The research results revealed a dynamic behavior of a farmer child, determining their entry into or exit from agriculture, and that farming income was the main determinant of decision-making in entering the agriculture sector. The analysis further revealed that a young farmer farming performance correlated significantly with their agricultural entrepreneurship orientation, which covers the feeling of confidence, patience, and perseverance in farming. Further, their farming performance was also correlated significantly with access to external finance  and agricultural education in the family. These results provide valuable insights regarding the importance of the empowerment strategy, particularly at farmer household level, in encouraging effective farmer regeneration.

Abstract

Abstract

This research is based on the assumption that several variables play a role in determining and directly influencing the income of independent oil palm farmers operating in Manis Mata sub-district, Ketapang District, an agricultural region dominated by oil palm cultivation. The main objective of this study is to identify the factors contributing to the income of independent oil palm farmers in the area. The research was conducted from December 2024 to January 2025 in Manis Mata sub-district, Ketapang Regency. The approach used was a quantitative descriptive method, with a sample size of 93 independent oil palm farmers. The analysis revealed that land area has a positive and significant impact, confirming that the larger the land ownership, the higher the income per hectare tends to be. Other variables, such as plant age and labor wages, have been shown to have a significant positive effect, so that increasing plant age and labor wages will increase income. Conversely, the prices of KCL fertilizer and herbicide showed a negative and significant impact, indicating that higher input prices will directly reduce farmer income due to the high costs they must bear. Neither the price of NPK fertilizer nor that of TSP fertilizer has a significant impact on income from independent oil palm farming in Manis Mata sub-district, Ketapang District.

Abstract

Palm oil plays a strategic role in Indonesia"™s economy; however, smallholder farmers still face various challenges, such as limited capital, market access, and technological innovation. To address these issues, the government has implemented a partnership system with large companies to enhance farmers' productivity. In Bengkayang Regency, the implementation of such partnerships faces obstacles, particularly land conflicts, administrative boundary issues, and suboptimal profit-sharing mechanisms, which impact farmers' welfare. This study aims to analyze the partnership models in palm oil plantations in Bengkayang Regency, evaluate their influence on farmers' production levels, and examine their impact on farmers' income. The research employs descriptive analysis, income analysis, and a Paired Sample t-test. The findings indicate that the nucleus-plasma partnership model is more beneficial for farmers compared to the profit-sharing model in terms of mechanism and cooperation effectiveness. Statistical tests confirm a significant difference in income between farmers adopting the nucleus-plasma model and those under the profit-sharing scheme. Factors contributing to these income disparities include the production-sharing system, company-owned plantations, farm size, cooperative membership, and cooperative management systems

Abstract

The feminization of agriculture signifies a structural shift in the global agrarian landscape, marked by changing gender dynamics in rural labor and persistent disparities in intra-household resource allocation. This study examines three critical dimensions of this phenomenon time allocation, income control, and value equity within farming households in developing countries. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of peer-reviewed studies published between 2015-2025, the analysis synthesizes current evidence on gendered labor patterns and decision-making hierarchies.Findings reveal that time allocation is not merely a logistical concern but a reflection of entrenched gendered power relations. Women’s labor is frequently perceived as flexible and inexhaustible, enabling its systematic deployment in low-visibility, undervalued tasks reinforcing structural invisibility and time poverty. Despite increased female engagement in production, processing, and market activities contributing significantly to commercial outputs economic benefits are often redirected under male control, with minimal shift in decision-making authority. This underscores a central paradox: the feminization of labor does not equate to the feminization of power. Instead, agricultural commercialization may intensify the exploitation of women’s labor by integrating it into value chains without equitable returns.Consequently, women face escalating workloads without commensurate enhancements in autonomy or well-being. A persistent inequity in recognition persists: women’s time, skills, and contributions are rarely translated into rights over income, assets, or public acknowledgment. Within household dynamics, this manifests as an unequal sharing of domestic responsibilities, further constraining women’s opportunities for education, health, and economic advancement. Thus, the feminization of agriculture, absent transformative interventions, risks entrenching gendered inequalities rather than fostering empowerment. Sustainable rural development requires policies that challenge asymmetrical labor valuation, redistribute care burdens, and ensure equitable control over resources.
