Abstract

This research aimed to create a prototype of the construction of learning to read Arabic with a critical literacy approach based on the SFL GBA and its implementation in learning reading skills. The systemic functional linguistics’ genre-based approach (SFL-GBA) was used to foster a critical attitude towards reading in the scope of Arabic Language Education students’ reading skills. The method used was action research, with the hope that PBA students of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang could have critical reading competencies. The results of this study demonstrated a prototype of the construction of learning Arabic reading skills with a critical literacy approach based on the SFL GBA and the guidance of the prototype implementation in the Arabic reading skills class. After this action, students could find out the types of text, the structure, and linguistic features of the text, to later be criticized according to the data they got.

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) explain the process of preparing the Simplified Grammar Book by Shauqi Dhoif in light of the constructivist theory is for beginners, and 2) determine the effectiveness of the developed Simplified Grammar Book. The development of Nahwu teaching materials was initiated due to several backgrounds, including: The unavailability of Nahwu teaching materials in Islamic boarding schools focusing on practical aspects, lack of supporting teaching materials for students to understand Nahwu, and the emphasis on the importance of improving Arabic text reading skills among students. These issues were addressed through this research. The researchers in this study used Research and Development (R&D) methodology, following nine steps out of the ten proposed by Borg and Gall. These entailed needs analysis, data collection, product design, product validation, improvement of the first product, individual product testing, improvement of the second product, field testing of the product, and improvement of the final product. The results of this research are as follows: 1) The developed educational materials consisted of 25 units to be implemented in 8 sessions. The educational materials included various exercises in grammar enhancing the understanding of grammar and analyzing Arabic linguistic texts. 2) The effectiveness of using the educational materials became evidence through the analysis of expert questionnaire data, which received a score of 86.5, classified as "good." The student questionnaire results also scored 86.6, categorized as "good." While the pre-test score was 57.0000, after using the developed teaching materials, the students scored 75.6800. This indicated a significant increase and the book was very effective for improving students' grammar knowledge and skills. The theoretical contribution of this research is that grammar teaching materials based on constructivist theory using the Shauqi approach can contribute to enhancing students' ability to understand and analyze Arabic texts.

Abstract

This research examined the directive speech acts of Arabic teacher in the teaching learning process: the perspective of Sinclair and Coulthard. The study focused on: (1) the forms of directive speech acts in the teaching learning process of Arabic class at Islamic Senior High School in Al Munawaroh. This research was conducted by qualitative case approach. The data of this research was the directive speech acts of teacher. The data were collected from recording observation and interview and was analyzed by interactive model analysis.The findings consisted of the form of directive speech acts in the teaching learning process of Arabic class containing 3 forms. There were imperative, interogative, and declarative. From this study, it is expected that Arabic language teachers are able to use isim fi’il amr"هيا" , gesture language for commanding, and interogative to improve students’ motivation and theirs’ feedback in language teaching.

Abstract

This research aims to measure the effectiveness of using TGT (Teams-Games-Tournaments) and S&T (Show and Tell) methods in improving students' mastery of Arabic vocabulary at Madrasah Tsanawiyyah Negeri (MTsN) 1 in Kota Batu, Malang, East Java. This research utilizes a quantitative methodology employing a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test control group design. The collected data undergo analysis through descriptive statistical tests, assessments for normality using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, and independent sample t-test. Compared to the control group, the results show a significant improvement in Arabic vocabulary mastery among students involved in the experimental group receiving TGT and S&T treatments. These findings highlight the potential of a collaborative approach between TGT and S&T methods in creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment, enhancing students' comprehension through group interaction and competitive activities. Additionally, literature supports the effectiveness of TGT and S&T methods in improving learning outcomes and student motivation. Thus, this research makes a significant contribution to enriching understanding of the use of innovative teaching approaches in language learning contexts, as well as providing a solid foundation for more effective pedagogical approaches in the future.

Abstract

This research is urgent because Nahwu is one of the basics of learning Arabic, especially for everyday communication. As time goes by, it has been developed by utilizing TPACK-based technology. The research aims to determine the effectiveness of digital Functional Nahwu material developed based on TPACK at MAN Pacitan. This research uses a quantitative approach with a population of all class X MAN Pacitan totaling 352 students. The sampling technique was purposive, so the samples were taken from class X.1 with 35 students and class X.4 with 35 students of MAN Pacitan. Data collection techniques used tests and questionnaires. The analysis uses an independent sample t-test. The research results are the independent sample t-test with SPSS, obtained Sig results. (2-tailed) 0.000 so that it is smaller than 0.05, then Ho is rejected, and Ha is accepted. This means that the TPACK-based digital functional Nahwu material is effectively used in Nahwu learning in class X.4 MAN Pacitan.

Abstract

Reading is one of the literacy skills set as Indonesia's national education goal and become a necessary skill in the 21st century. The reading skill of students of MTs Al-Hidayah Batu has not met the ideal standard. Achieving reading skills requires adequate vocabulary mastery and selecting appropriate methods. This study was designed to measure the influence of the reading guide method on students' knowledge of Arabic reading skills. The design of this study is quasi-experiments. There are 30 samples taken from a total population of 120 people using the purposive sampling technique. Data collected through tests, questionnaires, and interviews are analyzed using a t-test. The results show that the reading guide method can improve students' reading skills. Proven by the t-test result of the reading ability with a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.010 < 0.05. This statistical test implied that Ho was rejected. Ha is accepted, which means that there is a positive influence on the use of the reading guide method in improving students' reading skills, indicated by increasing the ability to read appropriately, mentioning the meaning of vocabulary in the text, answering questions based on the text, summarizing and retelling the content.

Abstract

Concerns to the balance of achieving knowledge, skills, and literacy competencies are less noticed in the Arabic learning process. Therefore, it is necessary to reconstruct the learning process as a solution. This study aims to carry out the reconstruction by using the Quran as the primary source. Verses related to the development of human language are used as the main data analyzed using the historical scientific approach of Ibn Faris and Krippendorf content analysis. As an analytical perspective, three literacy theories are used, namely The Four Resources Model, The Literacy Triptyche, and the Balance Literacy Model. There are five phases of human language development according to the Quran, namely the imitation phase, the perception phase of reason, the evolutionary phase of language and abstraction, the hubuth phase, and the isthifa phase. These phases, when elaborated into a learning cycle, become a modeling cycle, building context, constructing texts either guided or independently, evaluating text constructs, and critical texts. The imitation phase will lead language learners to master knowledge competencies. The perception phase of reasoning can lead to the achievement of skill competence. Literacy competence can be achieved through all cycles; even in the hubuth and isthifa phase, language learners can achieve critical literacy competence.

Abstract

Arabic teachers have a negative attitude toward translanguaging in the process of learning Arabic. But in fact, they use other languages than Arabic in their teaching. This condition prompts to reveal translanguaging in Arabic language classes. The aim of this study was to explore the patterns of translanguaging in the process of learning Arabic and to reveal the reasons the teachers used it. Case study methods selected for data collection. The result is that translanguaging has a different pattern in each skill taught through input-process-output. On the fourth input process the skill remains using Arabic, whereas for learning nahwu the input process used Indonesian. The learning process of listening and writing skills remains with Arabic; reading skill, speaking skill and nahwu used Indonesia. They use translanguaging in the learning process to ensure students' understanding of content, build communication and to promote their metalinguistic awareness in the Arabic language learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the students’ views on using the Spotify application for vocabulary mastery. In this research, the researcher used the qualitative descriptive method. The main instruments used in the data collection were observation and a semi-structured interview. The subjects of this research were eleventh-grade students of MA Al-Husna Dawuhan, Krejengan. The findings of the research reveal that students' positive views and using Spotify regularly can help them with English vocabulary mastery as well as other skills. Thus, it can be concluded that students’ views on using the Spotify application can help them master their vocabulary. Keywords: Spotify Application, Students’ View, Vocabulary Mastery,

Abstract

ABSTRACT Differentiated learning is learning that accommodates students' learning needs. The teacher facilitates students according to their needs, because each student has different characteristics, so they cannot be given the same treatment. This differentiation learning will guide students by themselves to be motivated and enthusiastic in learning because they learn according to their preferred learning style or profile. The purpose of this study was to find out (1) differentiation-based Arabic learning at Muhammadiyah Seven Panceng High Schools (2) the characteristics of learning Arabic based on differentiation at Muhammadiyah Seven Panceng High Schools. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The results of the study showed that the characteristics of differentiation-based Arabic learning at Muhammadiyah Seven Panceng High School were Initial Assessment, Flexibility in Material Choices, Various Learning Strategies, Heterogeneous Group Work, Individual Guidance, Choice of Tasks and Assessment. In practice, the teacher divides the student groups into three groups, namely the visual group, the audio group, and the kinesthetic group. Then each group is given recitation material in a different way or delivery of material, for the visual group the material is presented in the form of pictorial and colorful writing, the audio group is shown a video, and the kinesthetic group is presented with writing pasted on the board. After that they discussed the material with their respective groups. Then they take turns presenting the results of the discussion in front of the teacher and other groups. Prior to the implementation of the differentiation-based Arabic language learning model, a learning style test was held in order to determine the learning style of each student in order to achieve learning goals. Each learning style has differences both in terms of content, process, product and learning environment. The Arabic language learning based on differentiation in each school is different and Muhammadiyah Seven Panceng High Schools has its own characteristics ملخص تعليم التفاضلي هو التعليم الذي يلائم احتياجات التعلم للطلاب. يقوم المعلم بتسهيل الطلاب وفقًا لاحتياجاتهم ، لأن لكل طالب خصائص مختلفة ، فلا يمكن أن يحصلوا على نفس المعاملة. سيرشد تعليم التفاضلي الطلاب بأنفسهم ليكونوا متحمسين ومتحمسين للتعلم لأنهم يتعلمون وفقًا لأسلوب التعلم المفضل لديهم أو ملفهم الشخصي. كان الغرض من هذه البحث هو اكتشاف (١) تعليم اللغة العربية القائم على التعلم التفاضلي في مدرسة محمدية الثانوية السابعة فانجنغ (٢) خصائص تعليم اللغة العربية على أساس التفاضلي في مدرسة محمدية الثانوية السابعة فانجنغ . يستخدم هذا البحث المنهج الوصفي النوعي. أما نتيجة هذا البحث هو أن خصائص تعليم اللغة العربية القائم على التعام التفاضلي في مدرسة محمدية الثانوية السابعة فانجنغ كانت التقييم الأولى ، والمرونة في الخيارات المادية ، واستراتيجيات التعلم المختلفة ، والعمل الجماعي غير المتجانس ، والتوجيه الفردي ، واختيار المهام والتقييم. في الممارسة العملية ، يقسم المعلم مجموعات الطلاب إلى ثلاث مجموعات ، وهي المجموعة المرئية والمجموعة الصوتية والمجموعة الحركية في مدرسة مدرسة محمدية الثانوية السابعة فانجنغ . ثم تم إعطاء كل مجموعة مادة تلاوة بطريقة مختلفة أو تسليم مادة ، بالنسبة للمجموعة المرئية ، تم تقديم المادة على شكل كتابة مصورة وملونة ، وعرضت المجموعة الصوتية مقطع فيديو ، وتم تقديم المجموعة الحركية مع كتابة ملحقة إلى السبورة. بعد ذلك ناقشوا المواد مع مجموعاتهم. ثم يتناوبون على عرض نتائج المناقشة أمام المعلم والمجموعات الأخرى. قبل تنفيذ نموذج تعليم اللغة العربية القائم على التعلم التفاضلي ، تم إجراء اختبار أسلوب التعلم من أجل تحديد أسلوب التعلم لكل طالب من أجل تحقيق أهداف التعلم. لكل نمط تعلم اختلافات من حيث المحتوى والعملية والمنتج وبيئة التعلم. يختلف تعليم اللغة العربية على أساس التعلم التفاضلي في كل مدرسة ، ويتميز في مدرسة محمدية الثانوية السابعة فانجنغ بخصائصه الخاصة
