Abstract

This research aims at identifying cognitive counseling intervention models to overcome students’ internet addiction at the Vocational High School Makassar. Besides, this study aims at determining the effectiveness of cognitive counseling to overcome students’ internet addiction at the Vocational High School Makassar. The research method was an experiment using the pretest-posttest control group design. The samples were 60 students divided into two groups, namely 30 experimental groups and 30 control groups. The data were collected data using the questionnaire. The data were then analyzed using descriptive analysis to obtain an overview of the level of students’ internet dependence before and after giving cognitive counseling interventions. The hypotheses were tested using t-test. There are some results in this study. First, the description of internet use behavior shows that there are indications that students are addicted to using the internet. It can be seen based on the time in accessing the internet, the objects used, and the types accessed when they use the internet. The level of internet addiction of students is in the high category. Second, the implementation of cognitive counseling interventions has a significant effect on decreasing the level of internet addiction. It is evident from the results of the posttest in the experimental group, which is lower than the control group. Third, the cognitive counseling intervention is effective to reduce students’ internet addiction of the Vocational High School Makassar.

Abstract

The aims of the study are (1) to explore the influence of years of service on the counselor personal competence in the Era of Industry 4.0 in South Sulawesi; (2) to investigate the influence of counselor age on their personal competence in the Era of Industry 4.0 in South Sulawesi; and (3) to explore the influence of education level on the counselor personal competence in the Era of Industry 4.0 in South Sulawesi. The study employed a survey method using a questionnaire and data were analyzed descriptively with Anova and Multivariate. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire and the homogeneity of variables were priorly tested. The study involved 215 teachers from Junior High School, Senior High School, and Vocational High School in South Sulawesi. The findings indicate that the years of service influences the counselor's personal competence in the Era of Industry 4.0. Based on the Test of Between-Subjects Effect analysis, the longer they work, the better their personal competence in providing guidance and counseling services. Results of post hoc Test Multiple Comparisons analysis between years of service and personal competence and competence of era 4.0 shows that productive service years results in good personal competence in implementing the service from the 2nd  to the 20th years., and the ideal workers in the era of industry 4.0 is the new counselor. (2) Educational level influences the Counselor Personal Competence in the Era of Industry 4.0 according to the Test of Between-Subjects Effect. Thus, it is clear that the higher the educational level of the counselor, the better they are in providing guidance and counseling to students; (3) the age of Guidance and Counseling Teachers/ Counselor influences their personal competence in era 4.0. Based on the Test of Between-Subjects Effect, teachers’ ages are highly influential to increase the service in the era 4.0.berarti which means that it is directly proportional to the years of service. In this case, the more years the counselor works, and the older they are, the better they provide guidance and counseling service.

Abstract

The study aims to (1) get the description of Guidance and Counseling Services in the covid 19 pandemic era during the Studying From Home implemented by schools in South Sulawesi; (2) to identify the types of activities related to guidance and counseling services in the Covid-19 Pandemic era; and (3) to identify types of counseling service in the covid-19 pandemic era during Study From Home implemented by schools in South Sulawesi. The research method is a survey heart distributed and filled in online by 224 Guidance and Counseling Teachers in South Sulawesi teaching at the levels of Junior High School, Senior High School, and Vocational High School. Based on the discussion, it is concluded that: (1) the Guidance and counseling service during the Covid-19 pandemic in South Sulawesi was carried out online and offline, and an online Guidance and counseling service plan was provided for the Covid- 19 pandemic; (2). The  Guidance and counseling service in Covid-19 pandemic era used applications including WhatsApp and Google meet, and it was generally carried out from school rather than from home. The most frequently used applications were Zoom meetings and Google Classroom. Innovation service like school LMS was also available for guidance and counseling service. Another media was the android-based Cybercounseling because it was more practical and saved the internet data, allowed teachers and students to make short videos in TikTok as Guidance and Counseling media, and offered Guidance and Counseling room application; (3) The counseling services were generally carried out by the Guidance and Counseling teachers by making a media that an operator can control, visiting students’ homes, and giving classical and individual guidance and counseling online and offline. The home visit was the most appropriate method because it allowed teachers to identify problems faced by students and consult their parents about the learning progress of their children during learning from home during the Covid 19 pandemic.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are: (1) To develop a multicultural counseling model integrating cultural values of tudang sipulung to improve the social skills of students at Junior High School 2 Minasatene; (2) the investigate if the multicultural counseling model through the integration of tudang sipulung values is effective to improve the social skills of students at Junior High School 2 Minasatene. The method employed in this study was the Research and development (R & D). We initiated the study with need analysis and continued with the development of the product or model, model validation, test on the model to a small group, and revision. The targeted output was a product in the form of a Guide of Multicultural Counseling Model published in an accredited national journal with accepted status. Results of this study are: (1) Based on the evaluation from the experts, the guide of multicultural counseling model based on tudang sipulung values is feasible to use and distributed to teachers and students at school according to indicators, purposes, feasibility, and accuracy. (2) After performing tests on small groups consisting of 10 students to measure the effectiveness of the implementation of this model, we found Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) =.004. Because it was smaller than 0,05, it could be concluded that the Ha was accepted, meaning there was a difference before and after the implementation of multicultural counseling that was developed, and it was regarded to be very feasible to be implemented and effective to improve students’ social skills.
