Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of gadget addiction on the religious morality of Muslim children in Southern Thailand. The phenomenon has emerged alongside the rapid development of digital technology and the increasing integration of gadgets into children’s daily lives. The primary objective of the research is to identify the factors contributing to the decline in children’s interest in religious activities, the rise of disobedience toward parents, and the decreasing participation in religious education. The study employed a qualitative case study approach, conducted in La’al Village, Saiburi, Pattani, with research subjects consisting of fifth and sixth-grade elementary school students. Data were collected through interviews and documentation, then analyzed descriptively using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that gadget addiction significantly affects children’s spiritual, moral, and social development. Excessive gadget use leads to neglect of religious obligations, weakened ethical interactions with parents, and reduced involvement in religious education.

Abstract

Toxic relationships in dating are increasingly prevalent among adolescents and young adults and may lead to significant psychological consequences for the victims. This study aims to explore how victims of toxic relationships regulate their emotions in the process of developing resilience after experiencing dating violence. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with three female participants aged 17–22 years who had experienced unhealthy dating relationships. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns of emotional experiences and emotion regulation strategies used by the participants. The findings reveal that the participants experienced various forms of violence, including physical abuse, sexual coercion, economic exploitation, and possessive behaviors that restricted their personal freedom. These experiences triggered emotional responses such as sadness, anger, fear, and feelings of helplessness. Despite these challenges, the participants gradually developed coping strategies through emotion regulation, such as seeking social support, engaging in positive activities, and reconstructing healthier perspectives on relationships. The study highlights that adaptive emotion regulation and social support play crucial roles in helping victims of toxic relationships build resilience and move forward with their lives in a more constructive way. Keywords: Dating violence; Emotion regulation; Psychological recovery; Resilience; Toxic relationship.

Abstract

This investigation examines how teacher preparedness in implementing the independent curriculum impacts student engagement and motivation in Islamic religious education at the junior high level. The primary objective of this paper is to determine the effect of teacher preparedness (designated as X) regarding the implementation of the independent curriculum on students' interest in learning (Y1) and its effect on their learning motivation (Y2), specifically within the context of Islamic religious education for junior high students. Employing a quantitative methodological framework, this research utilized simple regression analysis for hypothesis testing. A simple random sampling technique was applied to select the participants, comprising 95 teachers and 95 students drawn from the overall population. Data were collected through questionnaires. The outcomes of the study indicate the following: 1) With a calculated t-value of 3.195 exceeding the critical value of 1.665 (t_count = 3.195 ≥ t_table = 1.665), the null hypothesis (H₀) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H₁) is accepted. This signifies that teacher preparedness exerts an influence on students' interest in studying Islamic religious education (PAI). Furthermore, the R-squared value (R²) is 0.315, or 31.5%, suggesting that enhanced teacher readiness correlates with greater student interest in learning, and vice versa. 2) The computed t-value is 4.319, which is also greater than the critical value of 1.665 (t_count = 4.319 ≥ t_table = 1.665). Consequently, H₀ is rejected, and H₁ is accepted, indicating an influence of teacher preparedness on learning motivation. The R-squared value (R²) in this case is 0.409, or 40.9%. This leads to the conclusion that higher levels of teacher readiness are associated with increased student learning motivation. Therefore, fostering student interest and motivation in learning necessitates both adequate preparation for educators and active involvement from parents, with the expectation that this will enable students to cultivate their interests beneficially for their school, families, and community.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how individuals perceive and experience body shaming on social media, its impact on self-image, and the coping strategies employed in response. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through an open-ended online questionnaire completed by 20 participants aged 18 to 22 years, consisting of 70% females and 30% males. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns in experiences, perceptions, and psychological responses to body shaming. The results indicate that most participants interpret body shaming as a form of verbal abuse rooted in narrow societal standards of the ideal body. Reported psychological impacts include decreased self-confidence, anxiety, and changes in online behavior, although some participants demonstrated resilience by employing coping strategies such as self-acceptance, lifestyle changes, and seeking social support from family and friends. The study also reveals that body shaming occurs not only in public digital spaces like TikTok and Instagram but also in private digital settings such as WhatsApp groups. These findings underscore the need for educational interventions, strengthened support from families and schools, and the development of protective digital policies and features to address verbal abuse on social media.

Abstract

The phenomenon of fatherlessness, where girls grow up without the physical or emotional presence of a father, has become a critical issue in adolescent psychosocial development. In Indonesia, rising divorce rates and family dysfunction have made this condition increasingly common. This study, conducted in Semarang, aims to explore the emotional experiences of women who have experienced fatherlessness, particularly in the context of romantic relationships. Using a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, this research involved two female participants aged 19 and 21, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal complex emotional dynamics, including emotional dependency on partners, difficulty in building trust, and emotional instability within relationships. However, variations were found in how participants responded to fatherlessness: one showed strong emotional attachment to her partner, while the other exhibited emotional independence and distance. In conclusion, fatherlessness influences how women construct and engage in romantic relationships. This study recommends providing psychosocial support to young women from fatherless families to help them build healthy attachment and emotional regulation skills.
