Abstract

Ruminal content is one of slaughterhouse waste that has not been utilized optimally, in fact there are cases where ruminal content are thrown away haphazardly, causing environmental pollution. The nutritional value of ruminal content is relatively high which is caused by the imperfect nutrition absorption do not have much difference with the original nutritional value coming from the cattle feed itself. nutritional value in ruminal content is 8.86% of protein, 2.6% of fat, 28.78% of fiber, 0.55% of phosphor, 18.54% of ash and 10.92% of water content. The aims of this research was to find out whether the usage of fermentation cattle ruminal content in quail’s feed ransom can influence the protein content inside the yolk and albumen of an egg. This research used fermentation cattle ruminal content and divided into four treatments. The first treatment (T0) was only giving formula feed. The second treatment (T1) was Formulation feed (5% fermentated rumen content). The second treatment (T2) was Formulation feed (10% fermentated rumen content). The third treatment (T3) was Formulation feed (15% fermentated rumen content). The experiment design was Completely Randomized Design.

Abstract

Toxoplasmosis is one of the zoonotic diseases caused by the protozoa Toxoplasma gondii. The disease infects warm-blooded animals including humans. The purpose of this study was to determine the contamination of Toxoplasma oocysts in water sources in goat-sheep farms in Sidoarjo Regency. A total of 63 water samples were used for the study. Water samples were taken from 5 sub-districts that have many goat-sheep farms, each sub-district has 2 villages, with each village having 6-7 samples. The examination used the floating method and was examined under a microscope with a magnification of 400x. The results of the examination found 21 samples of Toxoplasma gondii oocysts or 33.33% (21/63). The morphology of T.gondii oocysts is round, ovoid or ellipsoid with sizes varying between 8.02 - 12.72 micrometers. Preventive measures are needed by treating water before giving it to livestock.

Abstract

Broiler are popular meat-producing birds in Indonesia because they contain high levels of animal protein. Apart from being used in the treatment of infectious diseases, antibiotics are also used as antibiotic growth promoters (AGP). However, the use of antibiotics as feed additives has been prohibited, a natural substitute for AGP is katapang leaves (Terminalia catappa L.). This study aims to determine the effect of administering katapang leaf extract (Terminalia catappa L.) on the number and type of leukocytes in broiler. This study used 24 Cobb strain broiler which were divided into four treatment groups, each group consisting of six replications. The treatment groups were P0 = only given 1% CMC-Na solution, P1 = Katapang leaf extract solution with 5% concentration, P2 = Ketapang leaf extract solution with 10% concentration, P3 = Katapang leaf extract solution with 15% concentration. The treatment is given orally with a syringe, given to chickens aged 21–35 days. At the end of the study, 2 ml–3 ml of blood is taken from the brachial vein. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test

Abstract

Pote goats are kept by the rural community in Bangkalan Regency, Madura Island, Indonesia. Estrus symptoms in goats are usually unclear, causing low fertility. This study aimed to determine the intracervical artificial insemination at early and mid-estrus on the Pote does. The 24 the does were randomly divided into two groups and estrous synchronization with PGF2α of 200 µg intramuscularly, twice injections with 11 days intervals. The T1 groups of estrus the Pote does were inseminated at early estrus (0-12 hours). Meanwhile, T2 groups of estrus the Pote does were inseminated at mid-estrus (12-24 hours after signs of estrus appeared. The insemination conducted artificially using post-thawed Boer semen. The observed variables were non-return rate at day 21 post-insemination (NRR21), and pregnancy rate (PR) based on abdominal palpation diagnosis. The result showed that post-thawed Boer buck was qualified (sperm motility more than 40%) for artificial insemination. All of the Pote does were estrus after twice PGF2α intramuscular injection with 11 days intervals. The onset of estrus was 48-72 hours after the second injection PGF2α. The NRR21 and PR ranged from 66.66-100% and 37.50-66.66%, respectively. The NRR21 and PR of the T2 group were higher than those of the T1 group. It could be concluded that intracervical artificial insemination on Pote the does at mid-estrus were more effective, resulting in higher NRR21 and PR than those at early estrus.
