Abstract

This study aims to understand the tidal flood storage pattern in Banjarmasin City through spatial and land cover modeling and to produce detailed and accurate maps of the area of land cover inundated by tidal flooding and develop a spatial model to circle the impact of tidal flooding on various types of land cover. Modeling was carried out using the Ilwis Academic application analysis through the nearest neighbor (operational environment), considering air rise scenarios of 0.25 meters, 0.5 meters, and 1 meter, based on the average elevation of the Banjarmasin area. At an air rise of 0.25 meters, approximately 20.2% of agricultural land was inundated, increasing to 29.9% at an elevation of 0.5 meters. At an elevation of 1 meter, approximately 78% of the city area was inundated, with the agricultural sector being the most vulnerable to tidal flooding in all scenarios. These findings indicate the importance of effective mitigation strategies to reduce the negative impact of tidal flooding on the agricultural sector and daily activities in Banjarmasin City.

Abstract

Fire is a disaster and its frequency is increasing every year. Seeing this, it is very important to know the spatial distribution of hotspots to determine the potential for fires in each area. Based on this, it is necessary to conduct research with the title "Spatial Distribution of Hotspots Using S-NPP VIIRS for Early Detection of Potential Fires". This research includes the type of descriptive research. The population in the study were all hotspots in Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan Province. Hotspots were taken from the results of the S-NPP VIIRS satellite imagery recording from 2012-2021. The number of samples is equal to the number of populations. The data analysis technique uses nearest neighbor analysis and descriptive analysis which is processed using Arc GIS software. The research results show that fires occur during the dry season, namely in July, August, September and October. Spatial distribution of hotspots from the results of S-NPP VIIRS satellite imagery based on the accuracy of the most confidence level in July, August, September and October. If the spatial distribution of hotspots is known, it can be used as an early detection effort. Early detection is carried out as an effort to prevent and control fires with a greater negative impact. In addition, with the existence of an early warning system, the community is better prepared to deal with fires so that the negative impacts that may arise due to fires can be minimized, including loss of life and property.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the economic and financial feasibility of the Sutan Raja Hotel development  in Kendari City. This four-star hotel is planned to be built in a strategic location, specifically on Jalan  Supu Yusuf, Korumba Village, Mandonga District. The analysis was conducted using three main  indicators, namely Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR), and Internal Rate of Return  (IRR). The calculation results show that the project generates an NPV of IDR 88.05 billion, a BCR of  1.33, and an IRR of 13.54%. Based on these results, the project is considered economically and financially feasible. The strategic location factor and tourism potential in Kendari City are the main supporters of the success of this investment.

Abstract

This study analyzes the dynamics of political debates on social media following the 2024 Presidential Election, focusing on the group identities of “anak abah” and “warga 58%” through a virtual ethnography approach. The findings highlight four key points. First, identity politics demonstrates a stronger and more enduring bond than the electoral moment itself, as group identities are constructed through symbols, language, and emotional experiences that persist beyond the political event. Second, collective emotions such as anger and pride do not dissipate after the campaign; instead, they continue to reinforce solidarity through ongoing digital interactions. Third, social media algorithms intensify the persistence of these conflicts by creating spaces that circulate similar content and prolong cycles of debate. Fourth, this phenomenon reflects symbolic polarization, in which labels such as “anak abah” and “warga 58%” function as markers of political identity that extend beyond the presidential election in which they originated. Thus, social media becomes a stage for reinterpreting political reality, where citizens’ real-world choices are transformed into concise, symbolic, and emotionally charged digital narratives.
