Abstract

Mathematics 2.0 is a combination of mathematics and technology, which is essential due to the significant role mathematics plays in advancing technology, science, and education. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Mathematics 2.0 learning through digital educational games in stimulating early childhood mathematical abilities. A mixed-methods approach was employed, utilizing qualitative methods to illustrate the importance of mathematics learning through educational games for young children, and quantitative methods to measure the impact of such games on stimulating early mathematical skills. The sample consisted of 30 early childhood students, with data collected through interviews and observations. The results of the study indicate that educational games such as Lumio and ScratchJr have a significant effect in stimulating mathematical abilities in early childhood.

Abstract

Scientific writing skills are essential competencies that high school students must acquire as part of strengthening academic literacy. However, observations at SMA Negeri 5 Bantaeng revealed that most students lack a solid understanding of scientific writing concepts and techniques. This community service program aimed to provide socialization and training on scientific writing to improve students’ academic literacy. The program involved several stages: pretest, material delivery, workshops, group discussions, writing assistance, result presentations, and posttest. The results showed a significant improvement in students' understanding, evidenced by a 30-point increase in posttest scores. Additionally, participants' enthusiasm and positive feedback from both students and teachers indicated that the activity was relevant and beneficial. This program is expected to contribute to fostering a scientific writing culture among high school students.

Abstract

Seminar parenting pola asuh Montessori memberikan pemahaman yang mendalam kepada orang tua dan guru tentang pentingnya pendekatan pengasuhan yang mendukung kemandirian dan perkembangan anak. Pengabdian ini dilakukan untuk menjawab kebutuhan dan tantangan yang dihadapi orang tua dan guru dalam mendampingi anak. Jumlah peserta pada kegiatan seminar ini adalah 25 orang yang terdiri dari guru dan orangtua. Kegiatan ini dirancang melalui tiga tahapan utama: wawancara untuk menggali kebutuhan peserta, penyampaian materi secara interaktif, dan evaluasi melalui kuesioner. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas peserta memahami prinsip-prinsip dasar Montessori, seperti kebebasan dalam batas, penghargaan terhadap individualitas anak, dan pentingnya menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang mendukung eksplorasi aktif serta dapat meningkatkan kualitas pengasuhan anak usia dini melalui pendekatan Montessori. Abstract

This study discusses the SRV mathematical model of the rate of people refusing vaccination. The data used is primary data in the form of questionnaire data taken directly from the community in Pinrang district related to the rate of people who refuse vaccination. This research starts from building an SRV model to then perform an analysis and simulation of increased vaccination as a result of the role of the Health Promotion section, determining the balance point, analyzing the stability of the model, determining the value of the basic reproductive number (R0), conducting model simulations using Maple21 software, and interpreting the simulation results. . In this article, a mathematical model of SRV is obtained from the analysis and simulation of increased vaccination as the role of the Health Promotion section; two balance points, namely the free balance point to refuse vaccination and the balance point to refuse vaccination; and the basic reproduction rate R0=0.44721 indicates that the population refuses vaccination is decreasing.

Abstract

This study investigates how the school environment, both physical and non-physical, can support the development of middle school students’ numeracy in Indonesia. Conducted during the Kampus Mengajar program, the study used a mixed methods approach in two junior high schools in North Sulawesi. Environmental interventions included numeracy-themed visual displays, games, and integration of numeracy across subjects and projects. A total of 48 Grade 8 students were involved in pre- and post-tests, supported by interviews and observations. Results showed statistically significant improvements in students’ numeracy scores after the intervention. Qualitative data revealed that students engagement in classroom increased. Moreover, the interventions received positive perceptions from students, teachers, and principals. Both schools faced some challenges, such as space limitations and teachers engagement was mostly limited to those teaching science and mathematics. The findings suggest that designing a school environment, both physical and non-physical, that is numeracy-rich can enhance students' numeracy skills, even with limited resources. Further studies are recommended to explore long-term impacts and broader implementation.

Abstract

Drug abuse continues to be a significant public health issue, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia, with increasing prevalence among the productive age group. This study develops and analyzes a compartmental mathematical model, SAHTR (Susceptible, Addicted-Lighter, Addicted-Heavier, Treatment, Recovery), using a nonlinear system of differential equations to simulate the dynamics of drug abuse spread and recovery. The model integrates an optimal control approach to evaluate the effectiveness of two intervention strategies: anti-drug campaigns and psychological counseling. Numerical simulations were carried out using the Runge-Kutta 4th order method, focusing on the sensitivity analysis of two key parameters: the rate of social transmission (β) and rehabilitation success rate (γ₂). The results show that while the β parameter influences the initial decline of the susceptible population, its long-term impact is relatively minimal. In contrast, the γ₂ parameter significantly affects the dynamics of the recovery compartment, indicating that improving rehabilitation efficiency can substantially reduce system burden and accelerate the return of individuals to a drug-free state. These findings suggest that intervention strategies should prioritize enhancing the quality and accessibility of rehabilitation programs, including structured therapy and post-recovery support. Moreover, social influence control alone is insufficient without being complemented by preventive and community-based approaches. Overall, this study contributes to evidence-based policymaking by demonstrating the value of mathematical modeling in understanding and combating drug abuse effectively.

Abstract

Recently, diphtheria outbreaks occur in many countries. According to the latest data from the World Health Organization, the number of registered cases and incidence of diphtheria in 2021 will be 8,638 cases worldwide. Diphtheria is generally an acute respiratory infection with most infections being asymptomatic or having a relatively slight clinical course. However, many sufferers are afflicted by breathing obstruction. In this study, we developed and analyzed the diphtheria spread model by considering transmission by contact with an exposed and infected individual, progression for vaccinated exposed individuals becoming infected, quarantine for both exposed and infected people, and hand-washing behavior. Besides that, we proved the stability analysis around the equilibrium points and did the numerical simulations of models. The results of this study show that the model system has two steady states, namely disease-free equilibrium and endemic equilibrium. The disease-free equilibrium is stable if the basic reproduction number is less than one, either is unstable. The endemic equilibrium exists and is stable if the basic reproduction number is greater than one. The numerical simulations show that there is a significant effect of vaccination, quarantine, and hand-washing behavior for infected numbers, respectively. Vaccination, quarantine, and hand-washing behavior could significantly reduce the basic reproductive and the infected number. Whereas vaccination for exposed people could increase the basic reproductive and the infected number.

Abstract

This study is a qualitative descriptive research with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The implementation of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) method uses 5 systematic steps that can improve the mathematical logic intelligence of early childhood.

Abstract

Kegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) dilaksanakan di Taman Kanak-Kanak Bunga Asya di Kelurahan Tamalanrea Kota Makassar. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan menggunakan media pembelajaran dari permainan tradisional berbasis digital sebagai media bagi guru TK/PAUD Bunga Asya kota Makassar; dan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kemampuan mitra melalui Penyuluhan kepada kelompok guru TK/PAUD Bunga Asya tentang media pembelajaran matematika dari permainan tradisional berbasis digital. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan, pendampingan, dan diskusi antara pelaksana dengan mitra. Metode ini dilaksanakan kepada kelompok mitra meliputi diskusi dan praktik langsung oleh peserta yang berjumlah 6 orang guru. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah semua peserta mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam menggunakan aplikasi worksheet dan canva pada pembelajaran anak didik TK/PAUD Bunga Asya. Selain itu, semua peserta juga memperoleh pengetahuan mengenai pemanfaaatan media pembelajaran menggunakan canva dengan aplikasi worksheet. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini yakni adalah guru TK/PAUD Bunga Asya memiliki pegetahuan dan pemahaman menggunakan canva dan aplikasi live worksheet sebagai literasi digital yang digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran matematika yang edukatif. Selanjutnya, evaluasi dan monitoring kegiatan ini dilakukan secara berkala selama 2 bulan.

Abstract

Hasil observasi yang dilakukan di Taman Kanak-Kanak Bunga Asya dengan melakukan wawancara kepada kepala TK, guru dan orang tua anak didik, diketahui bahwa mereka mempunyai kelompok orangtua siswa dan orangtua alumni murid TK Bunga Asya yang melakukan kegiatan pertemuan rutin setiap bulan dalam bentuk arisan. Kelompok orang tua dan alumni menjadi mitra kegiatan PKM. Hasil wawancara juga diperoleh informasi bahwa kelompok ini mengeluhkan banyaknya waktu lowong bagi mereka tetapi mereka tergolong masih passif padahal peluang membuka usaha dengan memanfaatkan waktu luang yang cukup besar. Solusi yang dilakukan oleh tim PKM antara lain: (a)Kegiatan penyuluhan dan diskusi yang berfokus untuk memotivasi kedua kelompok mitra dalam memanfaatkan waktu luang; (b) Kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan praktek pembuatan berbagai produk dari barang-barang bekas seperti bros, tempat pensil, tempat tissu dan lain-lain. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh kedua kelompok Mitra yang dilakukan dengan ceramah, diskusi dan demonstrasi cara membuat berbagai kerajinan tangan; (c) Kegiatan pelatihan pemasaran dan pengelolaan keuangan kepada kedua kelompok Mitra yang diawali dengan ceramah, diskusi dan demonstrasi tentang cara menginventarisasi keuangan sehingga mitra dapat mengetahui untung atau rugi; dan (d) Peran mitra dalam kegiatan diatas adalah menyediakan bahan dan tempat pelatihan untuk kegiatan demonstrasi dan praktek pembuatan berbagai produk bernilai ekonomis dari barang-barang bekas. Hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa 100% atau 14 Orang Tua Murid dan Alumni TK Bunga Asya Kota Makassar yang mengikuti kegiatan ini sudah dapat merancang dan membuka usaha baru dengan produk seperti bros, jepitan rambut, tempat pensil dan tisudari barang-barang bekas.
