Abstract

Title: principal – agent; kontrak bisnis; masyarakat pesisir The study aims to identify in detail how work / industrial relationship (principal-agent) in maintaining the sustainability of fisheries business. This study used a qualitative approach to perceive reality as a result as well as an ongoing process. The Blumer method was used for the observation and interpretation of the data. As financial support of fisheries sector in the coast of South Malang, capital generally comes from three sources: banks, personal assets and scavengers. Bank capital can only be accessed by customers having collateral asset such as house, land, or vehicles certificates. While cooperative, thitil bank and pengambek were the capital sources for the small traders who do not have collateral assets. It is clear that there is a contract system for acquiring bank and cooperative capital. The unique case appears from capital system between fishers and “pengambek”. The system seemed to have a mutual advantageous for both party, however, fishers have less power and choice to get alternative source of capital in developing their business due to the restriction of their contract and they are not allowed to settle their debt.

Abstract

Abstract

Drug abuse has become severe not just in the world but also in Indonesia. To address this problem, public policies and researcher try to understand the drug use pattern. One of the famous concept in drug use pattern is gatheway hypothesis. The gateway hypothesis refers to the pattern of substance use initiate softer drug lead to the harder drug. However, many literature shows drug use pattern is not just gateway pattern, there is reversal pattern and using both gateway and reversal pattern. Many studies have discussed the relationship between drug use and individual characteristics. However, few of them are relatively link between individual characteristics and the sequential order in drug use. The purpose of this study is to evaluate how individual characteristics are associated with the gateway pattern and other pattern for different types of drugs. We use a secondary dataset of individual drug user patients from the Rehabilitation Center of National Narcotics Board aged 14–67 years assessed using the Addiction Severity Index (ASI), employing probit and multinominal logit model. Duration are associated with initial soft drug user with gateway pattern. While alcohol use and have high education level related with initial hard drug user with reversal pattern. Interestingly, duration and alcohol use correlated with initial intermediate drug user with all kind of pattern. Prevention and intervention efforts should be targeting high-risk characteristics of people at an initial stage of drug use and progression to the next stage.

Abstract

This paper investigates the relationship between occupation to interest rate between Islamic bank clerk and merchant who export or import goods. As Prophet Muhammad ever said that at the end people still eat the “the dust of riba” event they want to avoid it, this implies that what people’s occupation will also be affected by the rate of interest rate. Introducing two model that represent the relationship between two occupation, merchant and Islamic bank clerks, and using ordinary regression, this study finds that statistically, as people want to be a merchant, they will gain much benefit when the rate of interest raise, however, when people prefer to become Islamic bank clerk (especially in BSM as case study), their income will harm as the rate of interest increase. In addition, when the interest rate rise, the benefit which is gained by merchant much greater than the loss of Islamic bank profit (BSM) because of the higher coefficient value of merchant rather than Islamic bank profit (BSM).

Abstract

ASEAN is one of the actors in the world economy. With the launch of Forging Ahead Together, it is hoped that ASEAN can strengthen its economy and attract foreign investors to invest. The entry of large foreign investment into ASEAN is an opportunity for global investors. On the other hand, the factors that affect investment are from economic as well as non-economic. One important economic factor is banking costs because investment activities are inseparable from the presence of the financial sector which can cause costs and prices. Meanwhile, non-economic factors include institutional costs arising from the quality of a country's governance. This study uses a quantitative approach with panel regression analysis method to determine whether economic factors, namely bank costs or non-economic factors, affect the level of investment in ASEAN countries.
