Abstract

Bakteri asam laktat (BAL) adalah sekelompok mikroorganisme yang memproduksi asam laktat sebagai produk utama dalam fermentasi karbohidrat. Air bekas pencucian beras merah mengandung karbohidrat yang cukup tinggi, sehingga berpotensi menjadi media yang cocok untuk fermentasi BAL. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengisolasi BAL dari fementasi air cucian beras merah dan menguji kemampuannya sebagai agen antibakteri terhadap bakteri patogen. Metode yang digunakan meliputi persiapan sampel, isolasi BAL, pemurnian, karakterisasi isolat, dan uji antibakteri. Isolasi bakteri menghasilkan dua isolat BAL yang menunjukkan karakteristik koloni berbeda dalam bentuk, tepi, elevasi, dan warna. Isolat tersebut adalah bakteri gram positif berbentuk batang dari genus Lactobacillus. Uji antibakteri terhadap E. coli, isolat AC1 menghasilkan zona hambat dengan diameter 8,62 mm, sedangkan isolat AC2 menghasilkan zona hambat sebesar 6,90 mm, bakteri tersebut memiliki potensi sebagai antibakteri.

Abstract

Universitas Timor melalui program Pemberdayaan Kelompok Masyarakat melakukan kegiatan pengabdian Masyarakat dengan kegiatan  pendampingan budidaya jamur tiram sebagai alternatif pencegahan stunting. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberdayakan kelompok Pusat Pengembangan Anak (PPA) Gereja sion sasi dalam melakukan budidaya jamur tiram sebagai alternatif pangan dalam mencegah stunting. Metode yang dilakukan dalam pengabdian ini adalah pelatihan dan edukasi tentang pencegahan stunting dan pemenuhan gizi; pelaksanaan dalam hal ini diberikan pelatihan pembuatan rumah jamur, baglog, penanganan pra panen dan pasca panen; Pengolahan jamur tiram dilakukan dengan melibatkan PPA dalam melakukan pengolahan jamur tiram hasil panen menjadi jamur crispi; Hasil evaluasi dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa budidaya jamur tiram dan olahannya memberikan dampak yang positif terhadap kelopok PPA. Anak anak yang tergolong stunting sangat menyukai jamur crispi hasil olahan dari jamur tiram. Selain itu budidaya jamur tiram ini juga mempunyai peluang usaha yang dapat dikembangkan dan punya prospek pasar yang baik. Luaran dari kegiatan ini adalah kelompok PPA dapat melakukan budidaya jamur tiram dan pengolahnnya sebagai alternatif pangan bernilai gizi.

Abstract

Tujuan teknologi pembuatan pakan ayam Kampung dalam bentuk pellet dengan memanfaatkan bahan pakan lokal rendah protein adalah untuk mengefisiensikan biaya pakan sumber protein yang relatif mahal seperti tepung ikan dan bungkil kedelai, dan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan Kelompok Tani Perempuan Sion Kefamenanu. Kegiatan ini adalah bagian dari aplikasi program Hibah Penelitian Terapan Berbasis Laboratorium LPPM Unimor tahun 2022. Metode yang digunakan adalah participatory action research, kelompok tani dan tim penelitian bersama menentukan kegiatan di lapangan berdasarkan masalah kemahalan pakan pabrikan (BR1 dan BR2). Solusi dalam mengatasi permasalahan tersebut meliputi kegiatan persiapan bahan dan alat-alat, dan eksekusi di lapangan. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan penyuluhan, pelatihan/pendampingan sekaligus praktek pelaksanaan kegiatan untuk meningkatkan ketrampilan dan kemampuan kelompok. Kegiatan meliputi Pemilihan dan pengadaan bahan pakan lokal yang baik, pengadaan bahan pakan mikro-nutrien seperti asam amino kritis dan vitamin premiks, pencampuran pakan komplit, pembuatan pellet dan penjemuran pellet dan pengepakan. Hasil yang dicapai adalah ketrampilan kelompok tani meningkat dengan memanfaatkan teknik pembuatan pellet dan terjadi efisiensi biaya pakan yang akan digunakan dalam budidaya ayam Kampung. Dari kegiatan ini, kelompok mitra dapat mengefisiensikan biaya pakan sebesar Rp. 3.000/kg dibandingkan dengan pakan yang dibeli dari poultry shop.

Abstract

Universitas Timor melalui program Kosabangsa melakukan Kegiatan Pelatihan dan Pendampingan teknologi Internet of Think (IOT) Budidaya Jamur Tiram Pada Kelompok Tani Anifu dalam peningkatan produktivitan, pendapatan dan Ketahanan Pangan kawasan Perbatasan NKRI-RDTL Di Desa Fatuneno Kecamatan Miomaffo Barat Kabupaten Timor Tengah Utara. Pemasalahan prioritas diwilayah ini adalah rendahnya produktivitas pertanian sehingga menjadikan desa fatuneno termasuk wilayah dengan masyarakat yang memiliki pendapatan minim serta kurangnya pelatihan teknologi pertanian seperti budidaya jamur tiram menjadikan desa tersebut rawan pangan. Tujuan dari Kegiatan ini adalah kelompok tani diharapkan menjadi bagian dari percepatan peningkatan ekonomi lokal, ketahanan pangan, dan pertanian berkelanjutan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan program kosabangsa ini adalah Perticipatory Action Research (PAR). Adapaun tahapan metode Pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi: 1) Sosisalisi pengenalan budidaya jamur. 2) Pelatihan pembuatan kumbung jamur, pembuatan media baglog jamur tiram, sterisilisasi media baglog, inokulasi bibit. 3) Evalusi Kegiatan dilakukan dengan cara pendampingan kegiatan pra panen dan pasca panen untuk keberlanjutan program. Selain itu kegiatan dievaluasi dengan instrumen berupa kuisioner dan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil Pengabdian yang didapatkan dari kegiatan ini adalah menunjukkan kelompok tani anifu mampu melakukan budidaya jamur tiram putih serta mendapatkan keterampilan dalam pengembangan budidaya jamur tiram. Kata Kunci: Budidaya Jamur, Kelompok tani Anifu, Ketahanan Pangan.

Abstract

This community service aims to provide training to teachers and students of SMAS Pelita Karya in making wet and dry plant preparations based on local wisdom. This activity was motivated by the lack of laboratory facilities and the limited ability of teachers to carry out effective biology practicums. The training was carried out using the In-Service Training (IST) and On-Service Training (OST) methods involving science teachers and students. The results of this activity showed an increase in the competence of teachers and students in making and utilizing wet and dry preparations from local plants for biology practicum activities. In addition, there was an increase in students' understanding of biological concepts through the use of contextual and relevant preparation media to their surroundings. This activity concludes that training in making preparations based on local wisdom can improve the quality of biology learning at SMAS Pelita Karya and enrich learning methods based on local resources.

Abstract

Insect-borne diseases remain a serious health problem in Indonesia, especially Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF), which can cause mass mortality in developing countries. Biological control, such as using chitinolytic bacteria, is needed to contain the spread of this disease. The methods used include sampling and preparation of shrimp waste, manufacture of chitin agar media, isolation of chitinolytic bacteria, macroscopic and biochemical characterization, maintenance of Aedes aegypti larvae, observation of effects on mosquito larvae, and data analysis. The results obtained there are six isolates that have different morphological characteristics: IS1 to IS6 isolates have a round shape and milky white color, with wavy edges on IS1, IS2, and IS4, and flattened on other isolates. At elevation, IS1 and IS5 are flat, while the other four isolates are convex. Microscopic tests found 2 isolates contained Gram-negative and 4 isolates Gram-positive. The biochemical test of all six isolates was positive. Effect of administration of the concentration that caused the highest time of death of larvae on the fourth day, with a concentration of 15% and an average number of deaths of 4.66. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that six isolates of chitinolytic bacteria were successfully isolated, with diverse morphological characteristics, including differences in shape and color. Microscopic tests identified two isolates as Gram-negative and four isolates as Gram-positive. The biochemical test results showed that the six isolates were positive in the catalase, Simmons Citrate Agar (SCA), and Triple Sugar Iron Agar (TSIA) tests. Concentration administration affected the time of larval death, with a concentration of 15% showing the highest mortality rate on the fourth day, with an average death toll of 4.66

Abstract

This study aimed to isolate and identify bacteria from the rumen fluid of Bali cattle and to evaluate their effect as microbial inoculants on the in vitro digestibility of rice straw. The experiment was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and four replications. The treatments included rice straw silage with the addition of 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% of local microorganisms (MOL) derived from cattle rumen fluid. The observed variables included the isolation and identification of bacteria from the rumen fluid, and the assessment of in vitro digestibility, including Dry Matter Digestibility (DMD), Organic Matter Digestibility (OMD), Volatile Fatty Acid (VFA) concentration, and ammonia (NH₃) production. The results showed that the addition of rumen fluid MOL significantly (P<0.05) improved the digestibility parameters. The highest DMD (52.44%) and OMD (47.11%) were obtained from the treatment with 15% MOL. VFA and NH₃ concentrations also increased, indicating enhanced microbial activity and fermentation efficiency. The study concludes that MOL derived from cattle rumen fluid, particularly those containing Bacillus sp., is effective in improving the nutritional quality and digestibility of rice straw

Abstract

The business’ level, lack of knowledge about the making process and use of hand sanitizers from natural ingredients caused sellers in Pasar Baru Kefamenanu do not apply the health protocols during transactions with buyers. Therefore, there needs to be educated about natural ingredients that can be used as hand sanitizers, the making process, and how to use them. Natural ingredients that are found in Kefamenanu are betel leaves. Education on making hand sanitizers from betel leaves helps sellers to be able to make their own hand sanitizers. The addition of aloe vera to betel leaves extract aims to make the liquid hand sanitizer becomes softer. While lime and perfume are to get rid of the betel leaves’ smell. The distribution of hand sanitizers that has been made can be an example of products from natural ingredients and the storage bottles provided can be used as a refill place for hand sanitizer.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of the Kana farmer group in cultivating oyster mushrooms by utilizing furniture waste. The method of implementing this service uses participatory action research with the stages of planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The evaluation instrument for this activity uses a questionnaire sheet, and then the data obtained is analyzed descriptively. The results of this service show that there is an increase in knowledge about the utilization of furniture waste in oyster mushroom growth media and provide skill experience to farmer groups in cultivating oyster mushrooms.

Abstract

One of the e-learning platforms that can be utilized during the Covid-19 pandemic is Edmodo. Edmodo learning media which is very functional, besides being able to be used for students and lecturers, can also be used by parents. Assignments were given through the assignment and quiz features that have a time limit, so they can practice discipline in doing assignments. The objectives of implementing this activity are; First, providing the concept and socialization of the use of Edmodo for the learning process. Second, providing knowledge on how to use and apply the features contained in the Edmodo platform to facilitate the English learning process. The target of this service was Animal Husbandry II C students who in this semester are studying English and Biology. This community service was able to provide knowledge to use the Edmodo e-learning platform for free to support conventional learning during this covid-19 pandemic. This activity lasted for 1 day in one of the room of the Faperta Unimor building.
