Abstract

Power plant PLTA Koto Panjang that was built in 1997 is one of energy resourcesthat has great benefit to Riau. For that reason, its sustainability should be retained. Lately,there were environmental problems that became direct threat to the power plant, such asdegradation of catchment area, and erosion and sedimentation. Both of them are caused byintensive land conversion in the upper area.

Abstract

ABSTRACTRhizophora apiculata  the dominant mangrove vegatation species growing in Cawan Island, Indragiri Hilir regency, Riau. R. apiculata as one of the spesies in mangrove has considerable CO2 inhibition potential. Beside estimating carbon in R.apiculata standing, soil organic carbon was also analyzed conducted at different depths. This research was conducted in September-November 2017, used survey method, analysis of biomass using allometric, the size of the stand diameter as independent variable obtained by non destructive sampling, carbon estimation and assessment  CO2 refer BSN (2011). Soil organic carbon was analyzed with Los On Ignation method in Marine Chemical Laboratory Fishries and Marine Faculty, University of Riau. Average biomass, carbon content, CO2 R. apiculata uptake were 45,51 ton / ha, 21,39 ton C / ha, 78,43 ton CO2 / ha, respectively. The average distribution of soil organic carbon deposits at depths of 0cm - 15cm, 15cm - 30cm, 30cm - 50cm, 50cm - 100cm and> 100cm respectively were 275.63 ton C / ha, 275.83 ton C / ha, 277 , 29 ton C / ha, 562.90 ton C / ha and 271.95 ton C / ha. In each soil layer, the depth of 50cm - 100cm larger. R. apiculata standing carbon and soil organic carbon have positive regression result with linear regression equation y = 1,2759x - 2101,2 with terminated value (R2) equal to 0,1569 and value (r) with the same value  0,40 then the soil carbon carbon deposits with standing carbon deposits have substantial relationships. Keywords: Mangrove, Soil, Biomass, Carbon

Abstract

This study was done in June 2014 in Rindu Laut coast of Purnama Village of Dumai City. The field sampling was using the method Line Transect Plot. The mangrove in the study area had 6 families with 10 species, i.e. Xylocarpus granatum, Rhizopora apiculata, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Bruguiera cylindrica, Ceriops tagal, Lumnitzera littorea, Avicennia marina, Sonneratia alba, Excoecaria agallocha and Nypa fruticans. The mangrove species that dominated in this area was Xylocarpus granatum and Rhizopora apiculata. Based on the diversity, density and water quality parameters indicated the condition of the mangrove in the study area of was at the medium stage. Parameters of the environment enough to support the growth and development of mangrove forests, it can be seen from the condition of aquatic and a substrate muddy bottoms. The calculation of the value of the dominance Index (C) ranged from 0.16 to 0.58, indicating no type of mangrove species dominating the study area.Keywords: mangrove, the structure of the community, diversity, Rindu Laut, Dumai

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted in April-June 2019, located at the Center for Environmental Technology Laboratory (PTL) - Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), Geostech Building 820, Serpong Archipelago Puspitek, South Tangerang. The purpose of this study was to determine the growth of C. vulgaris microalgae cultured in Muara Angke seawater polluted by domestic waste and to analyze its ability to reduce pollutant levels based on chemical parameters from Muara Angke seawater polluted by domestic waste. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments of different C. vulgaris concentrations consisting of 5% v / v, 15% v / v, and 25% v / v performed three times repetition and given control that was without the addition of C. vulgaris and observed physical parameters (Temperature) and chemical parameters (DO, pH, COD, Phosphate, Nitrate, and Ammonia). Data were analyzed statistically using Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA) and further tested using the LSD test to compare between treatments with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that algae C. vulgaris had the potential to reduce levels of pollutants in sea water polluted by domestic waste, and the best treatment in reducing levels of pollutants in sea water polluted by domestic waste was treatment C (25%) with the decrease in COD value of 75.76% , Phosphate at 80.72%, Nitrate at 91.76% and Ammonia at 76.17% so that the levels of pollutants in the media used are in accordance with quality standards for their designation.   Keyword: Chlorela vulgaris, domestic waste, COD, Phosphate, Nitrate, Ammonia

Abstract

This research was conducted in March 2015 in Tanjung Buton water’s. This research aims to determine the content of organic matter in the sediment, sediment fractions, sediment grain size, the type and abundance of macrozoobenthos and relationship between the content of organic matter in sediment, macrozoobenthos abundance and sediment grain size. The method used in this research was survey method. Sample of sediment were collected from 3 stations. Sampling of macrozoobenthos was carried by using 1m x 1m plot. The analysis, identification and quantification were carried out in Marine Chemistry Laboratory and Marine Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau in Pekanbaru. The result showed that sediment organic content in Station 1 was 6,91%, Station 2 was 6,24% and Station 3 was 6,23%. The macrozoobenthos abundance varied from 11-32, ind/m2. Makrozoobenthos that were found in Tanjung Buton water’s composing of 4 classes of: gastropoda, bivalvia, polychaeta, merostomata. Diversity index (H’) was 1,74-2,34, dominance index (C) was 0,23-0,34 and uniformity index (E) was 0,36-0,37. Relationship between organic content in sediment and macrozoobenthos abundance in Tanjung Buton water’s were y = 58,61-6,060x, R2 = 0,113, r = 0,34. While relationship between sediment grain size and organic content in sediment in Tanjung Buton Waters were y = 11,20-0,823x, R2 = 0,081, r = 0,24.Key Words: Tanjung Buton, macrozoobenthos, community structure, sediment

Abstract

ABSTRACT                This research was conducted in March 2018 - April 2018 in Teluk Bayur, Padang Selatan Subdistrict, West Sumatra Province. The purpose of this research is to determine the type composition and abundance of phytoplankton in the waters of Teluk Bayur Padang, West Sumatra. Survey method was used in this research. Water quality measured in this research is temperature, pH, DO, Salinity, Nitrate, Phosphate, and Current speed. Phytoplankton composition in Teluk Bayur waters is composed by 5 class which is  Bacillariophyceae, Dinophyceae, Cynophyceae, Coscinodiscophyeae and Mediophyceae with total 16 species. The highest phytoplankton abundance in Teluk Bayur waters is found in stasiun 1 total 83,3 (ind/l) and the lowest abundance is in station 4 total 69,9 (ind/l). The highest relative abundance of phytoplankton species at station 1 is Leptocylindrus sp as much as 25%, at station 2 the highest is Streptotheca sp as much as 26%, at station 3 is Leptocylindrus sp and Surella sp as much as 16.3% and at station 4 namely Isthimia sp as much as 22.5%. Key word : Water quality, Phytoplankton, Teluk Bayur

Abstract

Abtrac Mangroves are one of the important ecosystems in coastal areas that grow in places that are still affected by tides. This research was conducted in April 2018 in Bunsur Village, Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency. The purpose of this study is to determine the condition of the mangrove ecosystem in Bunsur Village which is seen from the density of mangroves, environmental quality indicators and the ecological index of the mangrove community. The method used in this research is survey method and the research used 3 stations. Environmental physics parameters were measured in situ, the results obtained in the research location were temperature 30-32 ° C, salinity 8-29 ‰, and pH 5-6. Data analysis was described in the form of tables and graphs of the environment including Avicennia alba, Bruguiera sp., Lumnitzera racemosa, Nypa fruticans, Rhizophora apiculata, Sonneratia alba, Xylocarpus granatum, and the density of mangrove farm 1 was 52566.67trees / hectare, station 2 was 55655.56 trees / hectare, station 3 was 22244.44 trees / hectare from the results of these densities on all mangrove stations classified as good (very dense) criteria. Indicator value of mangrove environmental quality at stations 1.2, and 3 ranged from 62.81 to 80.31% classified as high environmental quality.The value of the community ecological index sought includes diversity in which the results obtained in the three stations are 1.14-1.42 classified as low species. Uniformity index values ranged from 0.49 to 0.78, where at stations 1 and 3 are classified as balanced individual distributions and station 2 is classified as unbalanced individual distribution. Dominance index values ranged from 0.45 to 0.89, where station 1 was classified as low species dominance, station 2 was classified as medium species dominance, station 3 was classified as high species dominance. Keyword: Mangrove Vegetation Conditions, Sungai Apit

Abstract

This study was conducted in June 2015 to determine heavy metal concentration of lead,copper and zinc in seawater and sediment in the coastal waters of Sergang and Marok Tuaof Singkep Island Riau Islands Province. The study used a survey method, samples weretaken from two stations and heavy metal analysis was carried out in Marine ChemistryLaboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Riau by using AASPerkin Elmer 3110. Metal concentrations in the seawater and sediment were found to behighest in Marok Tua (Pb 0.076 mg/L, Cu 0.100 mg/L and Zn 0.335 mg/L) and thehighest concentrations in the sediment were also found in Marok Tua (Pb 6.074 μg/g, Cu6.684 μg/g and Zn 30.021 μg/g). Concentrations of Pb, Cu and Zn in sediment in thestudy area were still below the Dutch Quality Standard for metals in sediments as well asthe default value of the ERL and ERM. Based on The Potential Ecological Risk Indexcalculations it was considered that Sergang and Marok Tua coastal waters wereconsiderably safe and still has low impact on aquatic ecology.Key Words: Heavy Metals, Water, Sediment, Singkep

Abstract

This study was conducted in December 2013 in coastal area of Sironjong Gadang Island of Pesisir Selatan Regency of West Sumatra Province. The aim was to determine its potential and suitability level of Sironjong Gadang Island to serve as marine ecotourism area. The method used in this study was a survey method and observation stations determination was done by purpossive sampling. Based on the research results, Sironjong Gadang Island was potential to be developed as marine tourism area. According to the category, tourist boating, banana boat and jet ski were included into the category of highly suitable (S1) at each station, recreation and swimming at every station were included as quite fit category (S2), and for the snorkling and diving at station II and III were included into the appropriate category (S2), whereas at the station I was included into the category of corresponding conditional (S3).Key Words: Level of Compliance, Marine Ecotourism, Sironjong Gadang Island
