Abstract

This research study investigates the effectiveness of an integrated approach to teaching programming concepts to primary grade students, combining block-based coding exercises (BBCEs) with unplugged activities. The backdrop is the 21st-century digital era, where computational thinking and programming have become critical skills for young learners. The research was conducted with two fourth-grade classes: one received traditional BBCEs instruction (control group), and the other combined this with unplugged activities (intervention group). A post-test was used to compare the groups' performance. The results showed that the intervention group, who experienced the blended learning approach, performed better than the control group, indicating the potential benefits of the combined approach. It's important to note that the study utilized a quasi-experimental design with intact classes and a post-test-only design, which could influence the findings. Despite these limitations, the findings contribute to the growing research on effective pedagogical approaches for teaching programming concepts, suggesting that integrating unplugged activities with BBCEs can enhance student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine and evaluate the impact of principal supervision and work culture on performance, both directly and indirectly, with achievement motivation serving as a mediating factor. Several variables contribute to low teacher performance, such as inadequate principal oversight, unfavorable work culture, and insufficient teacher accomplishment incentive. This study employs a descriptive quantitative research approach, utilizing numerical data and statistical analysis through SPSS version 25. The focus of this study is on Javanese language instructors in both public and private junior high schools in Temanggung Regency, with a total of 104 individuals. The findings of this study suggest that principal supervision, work culture, and achievement motivation have a direct impact on teacher effectiveness. Indirectly, achievement motivation does not have the ability to mediate the influence of independent variables on the dependent variable. The findings indicate a clear and substantial correlation between principal supervision and work culture with teacher performance. However, it is important to note that the presence of an intervening variable, such as achievement motivation, does not mitigate the relationship between principal supervision and work culture on teacher performance.

Abstract

This study focuses on the influence of infrastructure management and teacher teaching quality on student engagement and its impact on student competence in Vocational High Schools (SMK). The main objective of this study is to analyze how the two factors work synergistically in improving student engagement and their competence. The research method used is a quantitative approach with an ex post facto type, where data is collected through a questionnaire distributed to 177 grade XI students majoring in Automotive Light Vehicle Engineering at several vocational schools in Salatiga. Data analysis was carried out using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to test the causal relationship between the variables studied. The results show that the management of infrastructure facilities and the quality of teachers' teaching have a significant effect on student engagement, which in turn improves their competence. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of a holistic approach in education management, where school managers must pay balanced attention between improving the quality of teaching and managing infrastructure facilities to create an optimal learning environment.

Abstract

The project-based learning model is a learning model that is often used in the science learning process, especially in the independent curriculum, which prioritizes the learning process over cognitive outcomes. The purpose of this research is to find out research trends that apply project-based learning models to natural science content over a period of twenty years (2003–2023). The method used in this study is bibliometric analysis based on Scopus and Google Scholar publication data accessed through the Publish or Perish (PoP) application. The results of the bibliometric analysis were then visualized using the Vosviwer application. There are 33 publications on Scopus and a maximum data limit of 500 on Google Scholar in the period 2003–2023. Based on these findings, it can be seen that for the past 20 years, research on the application of the project-based learning model has often been carried out and follows the development of scientific knowledge.

Abstract

The development of tourism areas is an option that is expected to strengthen both economic potential and conservation efforts. The development of tourism areas is carried out through an integrated transformation of various natural and biological opportunities and assets. All of this requires the ability of the human resources in it. Therefore, this community service program is very much needed to optimize the Timpik Village Pokadarwis in increasing its potential as a tourist village area. Timpik Village is the largest village in Susukan District with beautiful natural panoramas of rice fields and hills with fertile soil types. In addition to potential natural resources, there are also human resources who have a high spirit to advance their village. The various cultures and arts that already exist add their own local wisdom value with the formation of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis). However, behind all that, Pokdarwis has not been able to develop the existing tourism potential. Therefore, various mentoring actions are needed in creating a profile of the arts and culture owned by Timpik Village as local wisdom, optimizing the management of village social media, optimizing the use of tourist attractions, and developing the results and marketing of Timpik Village UMKM products.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the community empowerment strategy in the development of Limbasari Tourism Village and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence the process. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collection techniques including direct field observation, in-depth interviews with various stakeholders, and documentation of various sources and related activities. The results show that the community empowerment strategy implemented in the development of Limbasari Tourism Village consists of five main stages. The first stage is human resource development through training, education, and capacity building of local communities so that they can play an active role in tourism activities. The second stage is institutional development, which is carried out by strengthening the role of village organizations and forming tourism awareness groups. The third stage includes community investment, both through independent funding and support from external parties. The fourth stage is the development of productive businesses based on local potential, such as handicrafts, village culinary specialties, and tourism services. The final stage is the provision of appropriate information aimed at increasing community access to knowledge and opportunities in the tourism sector. Supporting factors for tourism village development include abundant natural and cultural potential, the active role of village institutions, and support from external parties such as local government, NGOs, and academics. However, several significant inhibiting factors exist, including a lack of understanding of the concept of a tourism village among some residents, uneven community participation, unpredictable weather conditions that impact tourist visits, and inadequate village infrastructure. Therefore, sustained efforts and collaboration from all parties are needed to optimize community empowerment strategies so that the development of Limbasari Tourism Village can be sustainable and provide economic, social, and cultural benefits to the local community.
