Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus remains a major global health issue, with rising prevalence due to population growth, aging, and lifestyle factors. Melastoma malabthricum L. has potential as an antidiabetic agent based on empirical data and in vivo study. Objective: To determine the content of secondary metabolite compounds contained in the extract of Karamunting leaves and to determine the activity and EC50 value of the extract for antidiabetes was evaluated using the Nelson-Somogyi method. Methods: This study used the phytochemical screening approach to identify the active chemicals. 96% ethanol was the solvent used in the maceration process to extract the leaves of M. malabathricum. The Nelson-Somogyi method was used to test the antidiabetic activity by calculated the sample's EC50 value on decreased glucose levels. The Nelson Somogyi method's antidiabetic activity was tested with a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer. It operated for 25 minutes at a wavelength of 740 nm. Results: Phenolic chemicals, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, and tannins all exhibited positive results from the phytochemical screening. After the addition of 96% ethanol extract of M. malabathricum leaves at gradually higher concentrations, the percentage decrease in glucose levels was 25.32%, 36.90%, 51.39%, 70.87, and 82.83% at concentrations of 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 ppm. R2 = 0.9927 with y = 14.898x + 8.7747. Conclusion: 96% ethanol extract of M.malabathricum leaves contains several active substances, can reduce blood glucose levels and has an EC50 value of 2.76 ppm. Clinically, this implies a promising therapeutic potential with lower required dosages.

Abstract

ABSTRAK UMKM Kopi Jahe Arab Martapura menggunakan kopi pengaron asli Kalimantan Selatan sebagai bahan baku produknya. Kopi pengaron termasuk kopi robusta yang telah sejak lama dibudidayakan di Kecamatan Pengaron, Kabupaten Banjar, Kalimantan Selatan. Meningkatkan daya saing produk dengan memvariasikan olahan produk. Tahapan kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah persiapan, sosialisasi variasi olahan produk, penyerahan alat teknologi dan inovasi berupa mesin perajang bahan baku, pelatihan dan pendampingan kegiatan pembuatan produk dan evaluasi. Terdapat empat produk variasi olahan produk tambahan yang akan dikomersialisasikan yaitu 1) biji kopi pengaron – green bean; 2) biji kopi pengaron – roasted; 3) bubuk kopi pengaron; 4) kopi pengaron gula aren. Pada tahap awal variasi ukuran yang digunakan yaitu 100 gram.  Hasil evaluasi kegiatan mitra memiliki peningkatkan kemampuan dalam membuat variasi olahan produk kopi dan mampu menggunakan alat mesin perajang.  Tambahan variasi olahan produk dari mitra menambah daya saing UMKM dan dapat dikomersialisasikan.  Kata Kunci: Kopi, Greenbean, Roasted, Bubuk, Aren.  ABSTRACT UMKM Kopi Jahe Arab Martapura uses original South Kalimantan pengaron coffee as the raw material for its products. Pengaron coffee is a type of robusta coffee that has long been cultivated in Pengaron District, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan. To increase product competitiveness by varying product processing. The stages of activities carried out are preparation, socialization of product processing variations, handover of technological and innovative tools in the form of raw material shredding machines, training and mentoring in product manufacturing activities and evaluation. There are four additional processed product variations that will be commercialized, namely 1) pengaron coffee beans - green beans; 2) pengaron coffee beans - roasted; 3) pengaron coffee powder; 4) palm sugar pengaron coffee. In the initial stage, the size variation used was 100 grams. The results of the evaluation of partner activities have increased the ability to make variations of processed coffee products and are able to use shredding machines. Additional variations of processed products from partners increase the competitiveness of UMKM and can be commercialized.  Keywords: Coffee, Greenbean, Roasted, Powder, Palm Sugar.

Abstract

The Sri Rejeki Women's Farmers Group (KWT) is in Landasan Ulin Utara District, Banjarbaru City—the majority of residents in the area work as farmers. The natural potential in the area supports agricultural activities such as the cultivation of Butterfly Pea flowers and Bawang Dayak. Several products from KWT Sri Rejeki have been marketed but could be more optimal and are still sold offline. Based on these things, it is necessary to carry out several activities, namely diversifying processed products, making new packaging, and expanding marketing activities. This activity aims to increase understanding regarding types of processed products, improve packaging, and increase capabilities at the product marketing stage. Methods include training on the diversification of processed products, product creation and assistance, packaging planning, online marketing, and evaluation. The products produced are simplicia, tea bags, and powder from Butterfly Pea flowers and Bawang Dayak bulbs. Online marketing is carried out via Instagram, Shopee, and Tokopedia with the account name kwtsrirejeki.

Abstract

In South Kalimantan, the stunting incidence rate in 2022 will be 24.6%, more significant than the national prevalence rate of 21.6%. Tanah Bumbu is one of the districts located in South Kalimantan Province, with the incidence of stunting in Tanah Bumbu district, according to SSGI data, reaching 16.1%. Sari Gadung Village is one of the villages in Simpang Empat District, Tanah Spice Regency. This village has a potentially productive group, namely Posyandu Cadres. Data on the incidence of stunting in Tanah Spice Regency reached 16.1%. Providing health supplements to the community is needed to improve community health in Sari Gadung village and prevent stunting. This community service activity aims to prevent stunting by providing health checks, including checking Hb, glucose, uric acid, and blood pressure, and providing blood supplements. The method is that adult female patients are given drug information regarding the use of iron and folic acid drugs, and then their Hb, glucose, uric acid, and blood pressure are checked. The results of this activity showed that the number of patients who took part in the activity was 37, the average Hb value was 15.9 g/dL, the average uric acid was 8.6 mg/dL, the mean glucose was 112.5 mg/dL, and the blood pressure was 122/82 mmHg. The conclusion is that the results of the health examination at the posyandu in Sari Gadung village are still in the normal category.

Abstract

Ekstrak metanol dari daun Ramania (Bouea macrophylla Griffith) telah teruji dengan dosis kecil memiliki efek antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus, namun belum pernah dilakukan pengujian pada dosis yang lebih tinggi dan membandingkan pada metode ekstraksi yang berbeda seperti maserasi dan soxhletasi. Pada penelitian bermaksud untuk mengetahui golongan senyawa yang terdapat pada ekstrak metanol dari daun ramania dengan metode yang berbeda dan untuk mengetahui pengaruh peningkatan konsentrasi ekstrak terhadap penghambatan bakteri S.aureus dengan penyarian secara maserasi dan soxhletasi. Uji antibakteri dilakukan menggunakan metode difusi sumuran. Penapisan fitokimia terhadap ektrak metanol daun remania menunjukkan keberadaan senyawa yaitu mengandung senyawa saponin, flavonoid, fenol, tanin, steroid. Hasil ují antibakteri terhadap ekstrak daun ramania yang diperoleh dengan metode maserasi lebih baik dibandingkan dengan ekstrak yang diperoleh dengan metode Soxlet, yaitu pada konsentrasi 50, 40, 30, 20 dan 10%, memberikan zona hambat berturut-turut sebesar 19,28;13,28; 12,93; 12,25; dan 10,98 mm, dengan kategori kuat. Sedangkan hasil pada pengujian dengan esktraksi menggunakan alat soxhlet pada konsentrasi 50, 40, 30, 20 dan 10%, memberikan zona hambat berturut-turut sebesar 10,7; 10,3; 8,9; 8,6; dan  8,3 mm dengan kategori sedang sampai kuat.

Abstract

An autoimmune condition known as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) results in chronic joint inflammation. Side effects that occur during long-term RA treatment are dangerous. Therefore, many people prefer herbal medicines, estimated to have lower side effects; one such herb is bawang dayak (Eleutherine bulbosa Urb.) bulbs. This study aimed to determine the class of compounds and the effective dose of the 96% ethanol extract of E. bulbosa bulbs, which had an anti-RA effect in the Wistar strain with the Adjuvant Induced Arthritis (AIA) model. Eleutherine bulbosa bulb extract was macerated with 96% ethanol. In the tests with extract doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/KgBW and methylprednisolone 15 mg/KgBW, the induction used Complete Freund's Adjuvant (CFA). Treatment was provided from day eight through 21 of the test's 21-day duration. Phytochemical screening results contain alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, quinones, saponins, steroids, and tannins. The percentage inhibition of edema volume and joint thickness, respectively, extract doses of 100, 200, 400 mg/KgBW, and methylprednisolone 15 mg/KgBW were 27.9585%, 49.3446%, 53.3239%, and 58.4629%; as well as 64.9809%, 73.8022%, 74.1444%, and 74.1825%. After analyzing the results, it was determined that E. bulbosa bulb extracts in 96% ethanol can treat RA at effective 200 and 400 mg/KgBW (p-value <0.05).

Abstract

ABSTRAK  Kopi sebagai salah satu komiditas Perkebunan Indonesia yang memiliki potensi pengembangan masih sangat baik, mengingat konsumsi kopi di Indonesia masih sangat tinggi. Saat ini, pengembangan produk kopi pengaron khas martapura masih belum belum maksimal. Melakukan peningkatan kualitas produk dengan meningkatkan jumlah variasi ukuran produk, dan redesign kemasan yang lebih menarik. Tim Mitra adalah UMKM Kopi Jahe Arab Martapura dengan tahapan yang dilakukan terdiri dari persiapan kegiatan, sosialisasi inovasi produk, redesign kemasan, pendampingan dan evaluasi. Inovasi produk yang dilakukan berkaitan dengan variasi ukuran dan perubahan design kemasan yang lebih modern. Terdapat tiga variasi ukuran yaitu kemasan sachet (10 gram/sachet), ukuran 100 gram dan 250 gram. Hasil evaluasi terkait tingkat pengetahuan yang dilakukan sebelum dan setelah sosialisasi kegiatan mengalami peningkatan untuk kategori baik dari 14,29 % menjadi 71,43 %, kategori cukup dari 42,86 % menjadi 28,57 % dan kategori kurang dari 42,86 % menjadi 0%. Produk yang dihasilkan berupa kopi jahe arab yang ditingkatkan kualitas produknya dan dapat diperjualbelikan dalam skala yang lebih luas.  Kata Kunci: UMKM, Kopi, Pengaron, Martapura, Produk ABSTRACT Coffee is one of Indonesia's plantation commodities which has very good development potential, considering that coffee consumption in Indonesia is still very high. Currently, the development of Martapura specialty Pengaron coffee is still not optimal. Improve product quality by increasing the number of product size variations and redesigning more attractive packaging. The Partner Team is the Martapura Arab Ginger Coffee MSME with the stages carried out consisting of activity preparation, socialization of product innovation, packaging redesign, mentoring and evaluation. The product innovation carried out was related to size variations and changes to a more modern packaging design. There are three size variations, namely sachet packaging (10 grams/sachet), 100 grams and 250 grams. The evaluation results regarding the level of knowledge carried out before and after the socialization of activities increased for the good category from 14.29% to 71.43%, the sufficient category from 42.86% to 28.57% and the less than 42.86% category to 0 %. Abstract

ABSTRAK Pengembangan eduwisata berbasis tanaman herbal memiliki potensi strategis dalam meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat sekaligus melestarikan kearifan lokal. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Landasan Ulin Utara (LAURA), Banjarbaru, Kalimantan Selatan dengan mitra Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Sri Rejeki yang berfokus pada budidaya sayur mayur dan tanaman herbal. Tujuan kegiatan adalah memperkuat tata kelola eduwisata melalui pendampingan manajemen, pengelolaan keuangan digital, peningkatan fasilitas berbasis teknologi, serta penambahan koleksi tanaman khas Kalimantan. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan, penerapan teknologi, pendampingan, serta    evaluasi. Hasil menunjukkan terbentuknya struktur organisasi pengelola, sistem pembukuan berbasis digital, inovasi produk herbal melalui teknologi (slow juicer, mesin cup sealer, portable booth), serta penyusunan katalog wisata. Program ini juga menghasilkan peningkatan kapasitas manajerial anggota KWT dan memperkuat keberlanjutan usaha eduwisata Laura. Kesimpulannya, penguatan aspek manajemen dan fasilitas pendukung mampu meningkatkan daya saing eduwisata berbasis herbal sehingga berpotensi berkembang dari skala lokal menuju nasional. Kata Kunci: Eduwisata, Herbal, Tanaman, KWT Sri Rejeki.  ABSTRACT The development of herbal-based educational tourism holds strategic potential in enhancing community welfare while preserving local wisdom. This program was carried out in Landasan Ulin Utara (LAURA) Subdistrict, Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, in collaboration with the Sri Rejeki Women Farmers’ Group (KWT), which focuses on horticulture and herbal cultivation. The main objective was to strengthen the management of educational tourism through managerial assistance, the implementation of digital financial systems, the improvement of technology-based facilities, and the enrichment of herbal plant collections native to Kalimantan. The methods applied included socialization, training, technology implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The results showed the establishment of an organizational structure for tourism management, the adoption of a digital bookkeeping system, the introduction of herbal product innovations supported by technology (slow juicer, cup sealer machine, portable booth), and the preparation of a tourism catalog. The program also enhanced the managerial capacity of KWT members and reinforced the sustainability of Eduwisata Laura. In conclusion, strengthening management aspects and supporting facilities has proven to increase the competitiveness of herbal-based educational tourism, with the potential to expand from the local to the national level. Keywords: Educational Tourism, Herbs, Plants, KWT Sri Rejeki.

Abstract

Women's insufficient cardiovascular awareness remains a major obstacle in preventing cardiovascular disease (CVD) within this demographic. Addressing key contributing elements such as inactive lifestyles and insufficient physical activity among females is essential. The SEJIWA group, a women's fitness team in Padang, aims to foster healthy living, consistent physical training, and advancement in cardiac wellness. This program seeks to strengthen cardiovascular awareness and establish routine exercise culture among SEJIWA members. Various techniques were employed, encompassing educational sessions, promotional activities, health assessments, and practical training. The program ran from July through August 2025, with participation from 30 female SEJIWA members. Results revealed enhanced cardiac awareness score following education (50.04 versus 69.80), elevated physical activity measurements after weekly exercise routines (642.56 versus 940.38 MET). The majority exhibited unhealthy waist measurements, most participants were either obese or overweight, over half demonstrated elevated blood pressure readings and hypertension, most showed high cholesterol levels, while only a minority presented with elevated blood glucose. This program illustrated the efficacy of combined interventions including education, promotional strategies, screening, and consistent exercise in enhancing awareness and behavioral patterns. Nevertheless, the substantial CVD risk factors observed among participants highlight the critical need for sustained programs targeting CVD prevention in women.

Abstract

Saluang belum (Luvunga sarmentosa Kurz) is a member of the endemic plants of Central Kalimantan, which the local community has traditionally used as a traditional medicine to cure several kinds of diseases. Characterization of the ethanolic extract of Saluang belum root is needed to facilitate the consistency of safety and quality. Therefore, this research needs to be carried out to complete the data on the characterization of the ethanolic extract of Saluang belum root. The material used is Saluang belum root collected from Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. There is no standard for Saluang belum extract. The results showed that name of the extract was Sarmentosa radix extractum; Indonesian name was Saluang belum; Latin name was Luvunga sarmentosa Kurz; part that used was root; reddish dark brown colour; typical smell; bitter flavour; contains carbohydrate, allylic alcohol and terpenoid compounds; density 0,82 g/ml; water content 4,865%; total ash content 1,74%; acid insoluble ash content 0,31%, negative residual solvent; Pb contamination 3,206 mg/kg; Cd contamination <0,001 mg/kg; total plate count 1,0 x 102 colonies/g; mold contamination 1,0 x 102 colonies/g; yeast contamination < 1,0 x 100 colonies/g.
