Abstract

Heavy metal is one of the water pollutants that are harmful to the environment and humans. Cockle (Anadara granosa) is only used for meat so that the shells become waste that pollutes the environment. This study examines the ability of cockle shell powder as an adsorbent in the process of adsorption of heavy metals cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), and lead (Pb). The ability of the adsorbent was tested through the batch method, using a glass beaker (100 ml) at a speed of 90 rpm; initial metal concentration 20 ppm; adsorbent weighing 0.1 – 0.5 grams; contact time of 20 minutes and 30 minutes. The results showed that the adsorbent weighing 0.5 grams can reduce > 75% concentration of cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), and lead (Pb). Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption isotherms of cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), and lead (Pb) had R2 > 0.9.

Abstract

Background: The needs of Indonesian people for animal protein from meat are still quite high, but the fulfillment of meat demand has not been sufficient. Many obstacles faced by farmers in developing their livestock business, one of which is helminthiasis. Helminth infections can occur due to feed problems or poor maintenance management. Helminth infestation in the digestive tract can cause intestinal mucosal damage, which can reduce the efficiency of food absorption, causing livestock productivity losses in body weight, milk production, quality of meat, skin, and innards. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of helminthiasis and the type of helminths that infected cattle in UPT. Laboratorium Kesehatan Hewan Provinsi Jawa Timur. Method: This study used sedimentation and Whitlock floating method. Result: The highest prevalence in 2017 occurred in Tuban City, which was 6,69%, while the lowest was in Gresik Regency, which was 0%. Whereas in 2018, the highest prevalence occurred in Lamongan City, which was 9,42% and the lowest prevalence in Ngawi Regency, which was 0,22%. The type of helminth that infects the cattle the most in 2017 is Fasciola sp. as many as 114 cases, with the highest number occurring in Magetan Regency, which was 44 cases. In 2018, Fasciola sp. also the most common type of helminth found to infect cattle in 202 cases, with the highest number occurring in Magetan and Pacitan Regency, which was 34 cases.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see how adding the amino acid lysine to commercial feed affects the amount of EPA and DHA in catfish (Pangasius sp.) flesh. This study is an experimental study with a totally randomized design that includes four treatments and five replications. P0 (100% commercial feed + 1.2 percent amino acid lysine), P2 (100% commercial feed + 2.2 percent amino acid lysine), and P3 (100% commercial feed + 3.2 percent amino acid lysine) were the treatments. The parameters observed were EPA and DHA in catfish meat. Data analysis used ANOVA and continued with the DUNCAN test (p 0.05). The results showed that the addition of the amino acid lysine to commercial feed for 30 days of maintenance was able to increase the EPA and DHA content in catfish meat. The highest EPA content was obtained by treatment P1 (1.2% amino acid lysine), which was 0.597%, while the highest DHA content was obtained by treatment P2 (2.2% amino acid lysine), which was 0.747%. Our findings demonstrate that adding the amino acid lysine to the diet can result in nutrient-rich catfish flesh. However, studies on the influence of lysine amino acid on the growth rate, survival rate, and cholesterol ratio in catfish flesh are predicted to enhance the productivity of this very nutritious fish.

Abstract

Abstract

AbstractEel (Monopterus albus) are mostly bream a potential cultivated currently. Eel has a high cholesterol a month 185mg/10gram. Limit of the normal body needs cholesterol is 160-200 mg per day. The content of high cholesterol are not comparable with the content of unsaturated fatty acids eel meat. The unsaturated fatty acid on meat eel very low at α-linolenat acid of 0,46%, EPA of 0,22%, DHA of 2,12%, Linolenat acid of 7,42% and Arakidonoit acid of 1,75%. One effort can be done to increase omega-3 and omega-6 is through engineering feed, with the addition of supplements fatty acids that originated from marine organisms are expected to Omega-3 content and Omega-6 can increase in the meat eel. Research is aimed to increase Omega-3 content and Omega-6 flesh of eel. This research uses experimental methods to a draft random complete consisting of five treatment, four times remedial. Analysis data using statistical tests fingerprint variety of analysis of variant (ANOVA) to know the influence of treatment.
