Abstract

The use of KCl fertilizer in plant cultivation can improve soil fertility. KCl fertilizer can increase the growth and production of eggplant, both in quality and quantity. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the dose of KCl fertilizer on the growth and production of eggplant. This study is a one-factor trial using a completely randomized design (CRD). The factor tested was the dose of KCl fertilizer which consisted of 6 levels, namely: without KCl fertilizer (D0), 25 grams/plant (D1), 50 grams/plant (D2), 75 grams/plant (D3), 100 grams/plant (D4), 125 grams/plant (D5). Each treatment was replicated 4 times, and each replication consisted of 2 plants. The observation variables in this study were plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, number of fruits per plant, fruit length per plant, wet weight, and dry weight of the plant. Observations of plant height and number of leaves were carried out when the eggplant plants were 14 DAP with an interval of 7 days until the vegetative growth ended. The treatment dose of KCl fertilizer had a significant effect on the growth and production of eggplant plants. Dosage of KCl 125 gr/plant resulted in the best growth seen in plant height and a higher number of leaves, respectively 88.00 cm and 37.00 fruit. The highest eggplant production at the dose treatment KCl fertilizer 125 g/plant seen in the number of fruit, fruit length, wet weight, and dry weight of fruit per plant each of 7 pieces; 19.92 cm; 1,152.97 grams and 228.04 grams.

Abstract

According to Government Regulation No. 18 of 2008 concerning the Processing of Household Waste and Types of Household Waste provides the definition of waste as the rest of human daily activities or natural processes in solid form. The waste problem is an important issue that needs to be addressed in various regions in Indonesia. In general, the types of waste can be divided into three types, namely organic/wet waste, inorganic/dry waste, and also hazardous waste consisting of chemical waste that requires special attention in its management. The problems above can be overcome by carrying out 3Rs, namely reducing the use of products that have the potential to become waste (Reduce), reusing products that have been used in order to reduce the waste that arises (Reuse), utilizing unused products so that they have value without polluting the environment. the spread of plastic waste drastically (Recycle). Based on the description of the problems above, this community service aims to: (1) Provide knowledge about independent waste management to the community in Mojoroto Village, Mojoroto Village, Kediri City, (2) Increase knowledge about waste sorting techniques before disposal, (3) Increase opportunities for creativity and community innovation in the use of plastic bottle waste as a planting medium. The results of this service, the community is increasingly interactive in farming and enthusiastically motivated in developing the agricultural sector in the city area by utilizing the residents' yards. Menurut Peraturan Pemerintah No. 18 Tahun 2008 Tentang Pengolahan Sampah Rumah Tangga dan Sampah Sejenis Sampah Rumah Tangga memberikan definisi sampah sebagai sisa kegiatan sehari-hari manusia atau proses alam yang berbentuk padat. Permasalahan sampah menjadi isu penting yang perlu segera ditangani di berbagai wilayah di Indonesia. Secara umum jenis sampah dapat dibedakan menjadi tiga macam, yaitu sampah organik/basah, sampah anorganik/kering, dan juga sampah berbahaya yang terdiri dari limbah kimia yang memerlukan perhatian khusus di dalam pengelolaannya. Permasalahan di atas dapat diatasi dengan melakukan 3R, yaitu mengurangi penggunaan produk yang berpotensi menjadi sampah (Reduce), menggunakan kembali produk yang sudah terpakai agar dapat berkurang sampah yang timbul (Reuse), memanfaatkan produk bebas yang tidak terpakai sehingga memiliki nilai tanpa mencemari lingkungan mampu mengurangi penyebaran sampah plastik secara drastis (Recycle). Berdasarkan uraian permasalahan di atas, pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk : (1) Memberikan pengetahuan mengenai pengelolaan sampah mandiri pada masyarakat di Desa Mojoroto Kelurahan Mojoroto Kota Kediri, (2) Menambah pengetahuan mengenai teknik pemilahan sampah sebelum dibuang, (3) Menambah peluang kreativitas dan inovasi masyarakat pemanfaatan limbah botol plastik sebagai wadah media tanam. Hasil pengabdian ini, masyarakat semakin interaktif dalam bercocok tanam dan termotivasi antusias dalam mengembangkan bidang pertanian di wilayah kota dengan memanfaatkan lahan pekarangan rumah warga.

Abstract

Inovasi metode pembibitan dengan satu mata tunas disebut dengan bud chips. Metode bud chips dapat meningkatkan kualitas bibit tebu karena jumlah anakan banyak dan pertumbuhannya seragam. Kegiatan ini bertujuan memberikan keilmuan tentang metode bud chips dan pelatihan pembibitan bud chips di polybag bagi petani tebu di Desa Tanon Kecamatan Papar Kabupaten Kediri. Kegiatan awal adalah tim berkoordinasi dengan pihak terkait di Desa tanon untuk menjelaskan maksud, tujuan, dan teknis pelaksanaan. Penyuluhan dilakukan di aula Kelurahan Desa Tanon dengan dihadiri para petani dan warga sekitar. Pendampingan setelah penyuluhan adalah praktek langsung pembibitan metode bud chips. Evaluasi dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan dengan wawancara sederhana. Peserta penyuluhan menyambut baik dan antusias mengikuti penyuluhan dan pendampingan pembibitan tebu metode bud chips di polybag. Peserta tertarik mencoba metode bud chips di polybag untuk meningkatkan produktitivas tanaman tebu Kegiatan ini juga sebagai sarana transfer teknologi dalam membantu pemecahan permasalahan di masyarakat khususnya dalam budidaya tanaman tebu

Abstract

Corn cultivation techniques can be performed using a conventional tillage system (CovTS) and conservation tillage system (CosTS), which consists of minimum tillage (MT) and no-tillage (NT) systems. These systems have been implemented by almost every corn-producing region in Indonesia. One of these areas is Patianrowo District, Nganjuk Regency of East Java Province, Indonesia. The study was conducted to analyze the comparison from the economic side, such as the use and cost of farming inputs, revenue, income, and farming feasibility of the two cultivation systems. The study applied the methods of interview, documentation, and literature study in collecting the required data. Differences in costs, income, and the R/C ratio of maize farming from the two cultivation systems were tested statistically for independent samples. The analysis results stated that the no-tillage system was economically more profitable than the conventional system. A higher R/C Ratio value indicated that the NT system was more efficient in using costs, coupled with production time, than the CovTS. However, statistically, the two cultivation systems did not differ in production and income but showed a significant difference in labor employment. The condition of an area experiencing labor difficulties and supported by soil types such as grumosol is suitable for implementing a no-tillage system. In this case, the local government, through field extension officers, can guide farmers' decision to apply either cultivation system. Providing information, knowledge, and skills will assist maize farmers and other related parties in making decisions to obtain maximum profit and increase welfare.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe use of medicinal plants continues to grow along with the increasing awareness of natural products. This community service activity is a collaboration of lecturers and students that aims to increase the added value of medicinal plants into herbal drinks that are healthy and economically prospective. The activities was carried out in Dusun Ganggang Malang, RT 04 TW 08, Sumengko Village, Sukomoro District, Nganjuk Regency. Implementation methods include observation, socialization and counseling, training in herbal beverage processing (liquid, powder), and activity evaluation. The result of this community service activity is that the people in Ganggang Malang Hamlet, RT 04 RW 08, Sumengko Village, Nganjuk Regency, are familiar with various medicinal plants and have used them for cooking spices and herbal medicines. This herbal drink processing training was an interesting activity and received a positive response from the people of Sumengko Hamlet. The manufacture of medicinal plants into healthy and nutritious herbal drinks to increase added value economically. The activity evaluation shows that the understanding of the types, benefits, methods of making herbal drinks (liquid and powder), packaging methods, and business opportunities is quite good, above an average of 70%. This activity is a means of transferring technological innovation from academics to the community.Keywords: herbal drinks, added value, medicinal plant ABSTRAKTanaman obat terus berkembang pemanfaatannya seiring semakin meningkatnya kesadaran terhadap produk alamiah. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini merupakan kolaborasi dosen dan mahasiswa yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan nilai tambah tanaman obat menjadi minuman herbal yang sehat dan prospektif secara ekonomi. Kegiatan dilakukan di Dusun Ganggang Malang RT 04 TW 08 Desa Sumengko Kecamatan Sukomoro Kabupaten Nganjuk. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan adalah observasi, sosialisai dan penyuluhan, pelatihan pengolahan minuman herbal cair dan serbuk, serta evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan adalah masyarakat di Dusun Ganggang Malang RT 04 RW 08 Desa Sumengko Kabupaten Nganjuk cukup mengenal berbagai tanaman obat dan telah memanfaatkan untuk bumbu dapur dan obat herbal. Pelatihan pengolahan minuman herbal ini sebagai kegiatan yang menarik dan mendapat respon positif dari masyarakat. Pengolahan tanaman obat menjadi minuman herbal yang sehat dan bergizi untuk meningkatkan nilai tambah secara ekonomi. Hasil evaluasi kegiatan menunjukkan pemahaman terhadap jenis, manfaat, cara pembuatan minuman herbal (cair dan serbuk), cara pengemasan dan peluang usaha cukup bagus diatas rata-rata 70%. Kegiatan ini menjadi sarana transfer inovasi teknologi dari akademisi kepada masyarakat.Kata Kunci: minuman herbal, nilai tambah, tanaman obat

Abstract

Boyolangu District is a famous papaya-producing area and the largest in Tulungagung Regency. The local papaya farming community is active in farming. They succeeded in producing approximately 10 tons of papaya in 2020. This number has decreased by more than half from the previous year in 2019. This is inseparable from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the community complaint about a large amount of papaya stem waste after harvest. Waste management is a separate problem for farmers. Not to mention the added problem of the low price of papaya per kilogram. Therefore, a community service program aims to overcome the target community's problems with superworm (Zophobas morio) breeding education and training. The activity conducted by the team of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Kadiri empowering the papaya farming community in Boyolangu District, Tulungagung Regency to manage papaya stem waste as an alternative feed for superworm breeding. Farmers were invited to breed superworm as their additional income and improve the standard of living of the family. This activity mainly focused on the introduction and training of superworm breeding. The activity was beneficial for the social, economic, and environmental life of the target community.

Abstract

Kegiatan penyuluhan pertanian di Desa Klepek Kecamatan Kunjang Kabupaten Kediri bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi untuk kendala beberapa petani penanam benih kacang panjang. Salah satu kendala yang dihadapi petani di sana yaitu banyaknya benih yang ditolak (rejected) oleh mitra perusahaan benih dikarenakan benih mengalami kerusakan terserang oleh hama kutu-kutuan. Kegiatan penyuluhan ini merupakan kerjasama Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Kadiri dengan PT. East West Seeds Indonesia. Pemaparan materi dilakukan secara lengkap oleh kedua pemateri dan dilanjutkan dengan diskusi. Diskusi berjalan dengan lancar dan baik. Audients antusias dengan apa yang telah dipaparkan oleh pemateri. Hasil kegiatan penyuluhan ini yaitu peserta penyuluhan mendapatkan pengetahuan dan wawasan tentang teknik penyimpanan benih kacang panjang yang benar serta mengetahui jenis-jenis hama pasca panen yang umumnya menyerang hasil biji-bijian pasca panen khususnya kacang panjang. Dengan begitu, para petani kemitraan benih kacang panjang dapat menerapkan ilmu yang telah didapatkan dalam prakteknya dilapang. Penyuluhan ini bermanfaat sekali bagi petani kemitraan benih kacang panjang karena dapat menjawab dan memberi solusi terhadap permasalahan yang selama ini dihadapi oleh petani kemitraan benih kacang panjang.

Abstract

Materials for producing organic fertilizers are abundant around the house, cheap, and easy to reach. Various kitchen and household organic wastes can be processed into fertilizer, including vegetable waste, skin and fruit residue, food waste, and agricultural and livestock waste. Although farmers can make their organic fertilizers from various natural ingredients, expert assistance is needed for fertilizer production with more consistent results. Provision of knowledge about the essential elements of plant needs that a variety of natural ingredients can represent can increase the ability to produce quality organic fertilizers. The community service team at the Faculty of Agriculture, Kadiri University, took the initiative to introduce the management of kitchen waste into organic fertilizer, its functions, its advantages, its production, and its application on land or planting media to partner communities: farmers and their families in Nganjuk Regency. The partner community welcomed it well. Not only did they directly benefit from this training, but also this community service project contributed to the closer partnership between community members and between communities and higher education institutions for sustainable development.Bahan untuk pembuatan pupuk organik tersedia melimpah di sekitar rumah, murah, dan mudah dijangkau. Beragam limbah organik dapur dan rumah tangga dapat diolah menjadi pupuk termasuk sisa sayuran, kulit dan sisa buah, limbah makanan, dan limbah pertanian serta peternakan. Meski petani dapat membuat sendiri pupuk organik dari beragam bahan alami, pendampingan ahli diperlukan untuk produksi pupuk yang hasilnya lebih konsisten. Pembekalan pengetahuan tentang elemen penting kebutuhan tanaman yang dapat diwakili oleh beragam bahan alami tadi dapat meningkatkan kemampuan produksi pupuk organik berkualitas. Tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Kadiri berinisiasi untuk melakukan introduksi pengelolaan sampah dapur menjadi pupuk organik, fungsinya, keuntungan penggunaannya, cara pembuatan, dan aplikasinya di lahan atau media tanam kepada masyarakat mitra, petani dan keluarga tani di Kabupaten Nganjuk. Masyarakat mitra menyambutnya dengan baik, tidak hanya mereka memperoleh manfaat langsung dari pelatihan ini, namun juga proyek pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berkontribusi terhadap semakin eratnya kemitraan antar warga masyarakat dan antara warga dan institusi pendidikan tinggi untuk pembangunan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Vegetable pesticides are one of the agricultural inputs that are supportive of organic farming systems. Plants that have characteristics such as taste, smell, secondary metabolites can use as vegetable pesticides. Plants commonly used for vegetable pesticides include papaya, soursop, tobacco. The advantages of vegetable pesticides are cheap materials, simple processing, chemical-free, and environmentally friendly. The mortality rate of pests, diseases, and weeds by spraying botanical pesticides varies depending on the type of plant material, the life phase of the pest/disease/weed, and environmental conditions. This counseling and training activity, spearheaded by the Community Service Team of the Faculty of Agriculture, Kadiri University, collaborates with the local village government. This activity aims to socialize vegetable pesticides to control shallot pests in Ngumpul Village, Nganjuk Regency. The applications of organic farming systems using vegetable pesticides in the cultivation of shallots will increase yields and healthy products. Fulfilling the need for organic fertilizers and vegetable pesticides does not depend on the outside because the farmers are independent in producing them. In the future, vegetable pesticide products, in particular, can be a new opportunity to support the economy of farmers and society in general.Pestisida nabati merupakan salah satu input pertanian yang sangat mendukung dalam sistem pertanian organik. Tumbuhan yang mempunyai ciri khas baik rasa, bau, senyawa metabolit sekunder dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pembuatan pestisida nabati. Tumbuh-tumbuhan yang biasa digunakan untuk bahan pembuatan pestisida nabati, antara lain pepaya, sirsak, tembakau. Kelebihan pestisida nabati adalah bahan murah, sederhana pengolahannya, bebas bahan kimia dan ramah lingkungan. Tingkat kematian hama, penyakit maupun gulma dengan penyemprotan pestisida nabati bervariasi tergantung dari jenis bahan tumbuhan, fase hidup hama/penyakit/gulma maupun kondisi lingkungan. Kegiatan penyuluhan dan pelatihan pembuatan pestisida nabati ini diinisiasi oleh Tim Pengabdian Masyarakat Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Kadiri bekerjasama dengan Pemerintah Desa setempat. Kegiatan ini bertujuan mensosialisasikan pestisida nabati dari daun papaya untuk mengendalikan hama pada tanaman bawang merah di Desa Ngumpul, Kecamatan Bagor, Kabupaten Nganjuk. Penerapan sistem pertanian organik menggunakan pestisida nabati dalam budidaya tanaman bawang merah dapat meningkatkan hasil dan produk yang sehat. Pemenuhan kebutuhan pupuk organik maupun pestisida nabati tidak bergantung dari luar karena kemandirian petani dalam memproduksinya. Kedepannya produk pestisida nabati dapat menjadi peluang baru dalam menunjang perekonomian petani maupun masyarakat pada umumnya.

Abstract

Antiseptics in the liquid form known as hand sanitizers effectively reduce the spread of disease-causing microorganisms without hindering human movement during the COVID19 pandemic. Hand sanitizer is a purchased and homemade product to meet the family’s antiseptic needs using easy-to-find ingredients. Kadiri University Community Service Team, through Kukerta 2021 program in collaboration with Gayam Village Government, conducted a counseling and training program on hand sanitizer making. The hand sanitizer utilized materials accessible to the public, namely Ivory Betel (Epipremnum aureum), commonly found as an ornamental plant around the Gayam Village area. Hand sanitizer products have the potential to be developed. Making natural hand sanitizers in liquid form is easy and requires low costs with simple equipment and economic value. The results of this community service activity can be used to meet the preservation needs of the family and be sold through village grocery stores and village unit cooperatives in Gayam Village by installing a product label for the broader market. Antiseptik dalam bentuk cairan semprot yang dikenal dengan hand sanitizer berfungsi memutus penyebaran mikroorganisme penyebab penyakit secara efektif tanpa menghambat gerak manusia terutama di era pandemi COVID-19. Hand sanitizer bukan hanya produk yang dibeli melainkan dapat diproduksi sendiri untuk memenuhi kebutuhan antiseptik keluarga dengan memanfaatkan bahan yang ada di sekitar. Tim Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Kadiri melalui program Kuliah Kerja Nyata 2021 (Kukerta 2021) bekerjasama dengan Pemerintah Kelurahan Gayam, Kecamatan Mojoroto, Kota Kediri melakukan penyuluhan dan pelatihan pembuatan antiseptik cair dengan memanfaatkan bahan yang mudah diakses oleh masyarakat yaitu sirih gading (Epipremnum aureum) yang banyak ditemui sebagai tanaman hias pekarangan. Produk hand sanitizer memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan. Pembersih tangan dalam bentuk cair tidak sulit dan mahal untuk dibuat. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dapat digunakan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan keluarga, serta penjualan melalui toko-toko konsumen dan koperasi di Kelurahan Gayam dapat dilakukan dengan memberi label merek untuk pemasaran secara luas.
