Abstract

Obesity is a condition resulting from an imbalance between energy intake and expenditure, leading to excess energy stored as fat tissue. Factor contributing to obesity in adolescents primary stem from dietary patterns. This study aims to determine the relationship between energy intake, carbohydrate intake, fiber intake, physical activity, and obesity among 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Ngamprah, West Bandung Regency. A cross-sectional research design was employed, with a sample size of 48 students with random sampling. The sampling technique used was random sampling. Data collection involved interviews, questionnaires, and measurements of weight and height. The data was analyzed using Chi-square and logistic regression tests. The findings revealed that 26 students (54,2%) were obese, while only 2,1% met the daily fiber requirements. Significant relationships were found between energy intake (p=0,000), carbohydrate intake (p=0,000), and physical activity (p=0,003) with obesity. However, no significant association was found between fiber intake and obesity (p = 1,000). The variable that significantly influenced obesity was energy intake (p = 0,008; OR = 24,227; CI: 2,339-250,902), while carbohydrate intake (p = 0,076; OR = 4,837; CI: 0,848-27,597) and physical activity (p = 0,367; OR = 2,274; CI: 0,381-13,556) do not directly influenced obesity. Enhancing students’ understanding and behaviors regarding balanced nutrition, along with boosting physical activity through extracurricular activities, is necessary to reduce obesity among adolescents.

Abstract

The stunting prevalence stunting in Cimahi as a result of the 2022 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey  was 16.4. The prevalence of stunting is expected to 14% by 2024. The education level  and nutritional knowledge of toddler mothers is significantly related to the incidence of stunting. However, the education level and nutritional knowledge of toddler mothers in Cimahi are still low. Therefore, nutrition education is needed to increase the knowledge of toddler mothers regarding stunting. The study aimed to determine the influence of nutrition education using the stunting prevention education calendar (kalsiting) on the knowledge of toddler mothers for stunting prevention. This study used quasi experiment design, two groups with control group. The research location in Pasirkaliki Village, Kota Cimahi, West Java. The research sample was 30 mothers who had children aged 0-59 months. Statistical analysis used the Willcoxon test, independent t-test, Paired t-test, Mann Whitney U test. The results showed that the average score of knowledge increase in the treatment group was higher than that of the control group (p=0.031<0.05), there was a significant difference in the average increase in knowledge between the treatment group and the control group. However, there was no difference in the average increase in Z-Score height by age (HAZ)and weight by age (WAZ) before and after three months of nutrition education using leaflet media (p>0.05). Providing nutrition education using the media of the stunting prevention nutrition education calendar (Kalsiting) and by using leaflet media has been proven to significantly increase maternal nutrition knowledge.

Abstract

Adolescents are a vulnerable group when it comes to nutrition-related obesity issues. Obesity is a chronic disease resulting from excessive fat accumulation and is a major risk factor for non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Nutrition knowledge is an important factor as it impacts attitudes and behaviors. This study aimed to assess the differences in nutrition education using video and PowerPoint media on knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to balanced nutrition in the prevention of non-communicable diseases among adolescents. The research design was quasi-experiment with a pre-posttest control group design. The study was divided into two groups: the treatment group at SMAN 1 Cimahi, and the control group at SMAN 3 Cimahi in August – November 2024. The results showed a significant effect of nutrition education using video media on knowledge (p = 0.000), attitudes (p = 0.001), and behavior (p = 0.010). The average knowledge score before and after education using video media was 54.24 to 76.97, there was an increase of 22.73 points, the average attitude score was 49.93 to 52.24 increased 2.31 points and the average behavior score was 43.39 to 46.45 increased 3.06 point. The difference in average knowledge was 9.2 points, attitude 1.61 points and behavior 0.67 points higher in the treatment group than the control group. Conclusion: Nutrition education using video media is more effective in improving knowledge of balanced nutrition in the prevention of non-communicable diseases among adolescents compared to PowerPoint media, but it is not more effective in improving attitudes and behaviors related to balanced nutrition.

Abstract

The use of brazilien for borax detection is because the chemical properties of this compound are greatly influenced by pH which results in a change in the color of the brazilien. This compound gives an orange color at a pH range of 6-7 and yellow at an acidic pH, while at a pH range of 7-10 it gives a red color and at a pH >10 it gives a purplish red color. This research uses Brazilian extract from sappan wood for borax detection. By utilizing this compound extract, the use of chemical reagents for the detection of borax in food samples can be minimized. Apart from that, it can increase the added value of these crop commodities and can take advantage of the abundant natural resources in Indonesia. This research aims to develop a method that is accurate, simple and cheap and does not use special instruments to diagnose borax based on digital imaging, which includes extraction of brazilien from sappan wood using a maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent and water with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer, ratio optimization brazilin extract with boric acid, optimization of measurement time. The results of the research show that the solvent that provides optimum absorbance for brazilin extraction is water or distilled water, with a ratio of brazilin extract and boric acid of 1:1 and the measurement time is 5 minutes.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how Citizenship Education (PPKn) is implemented to shape the character of second-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Sukamanah in Tanggeung, Cianjur. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, the research gathered data through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and analysis of documentation related to learning activities. The findings show that PPKn learning delivered through teacher modeling, guided discussions, and consistent habitual practices effectively cultivates key character values, including discipline, honesty, responsibility, and tolerance. The integration of PPKn material with Islamic moral teachings further enhances students’ comprehension of their rights and obligations, while also reinforcing positive behavior in their daily routines. Despite these strengths, the study identifies several challenges, such as the limited availability of learning media and the diverse backgrounds of students, which influence the learning dynamics in the classroom. Overall, the results emphasize that PPKn serves as an essential foundation for character education, and its implementation needs to be continuously strengthened through innovative instructional approaches, supportive school policies, and active collaboration with students’ families to ensure optimal character development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of a deep learning approach in developing conceptual understanding among early childhood learners at PAUD Al-Fathanah. A descriptive qualitative method was employed through observation, interviews, and documentation involving 15 children and one classroom teacher. The findings indicate that deep learning effectively supports children’s conceptual development by engaging them in meaningful exploration, purposeful play, and real-life learning experiences. Children were able not only to recall information but also to connect new ideas with everyday situations. Additionally, the learning environment promoted a sense of comfort and enjoyment, as children displayed higher levels of enthusiasm and active participation. The child-friendly atmosphere and well-designed play-based activities contributed to joyful and meaningful learning experiences. This study concludes that deep learning is a promising approach to strengthening conceptual understanding, enhancing learning comfort, and increasing children’s motivation to learn. These findings highlight the importance of designing child-centered, contextual, and reflective learning experiences in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aims to outline how aqeedah and moral values are applied in the learning process of fourth-grade students at MI Ridogalih, examine the strategies teachers use to internalize these values, and identify factors that support or hinder the process. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the research gathered data from the Aqeedah–Akhlaq teacher, instructional documents, and records of the school’s religious activities. Data collection was conducted through guided interviews and document review, and the analysis followed the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results show that the incorporation of aqeedah and moral education is implemented through consistent religious habituation, exemplary behavior demonstrated by teachers, and the integration of Islamic principles into classroom instruction. Contributing factors include the strong religious environment of the school and active parental engagement, while obstacles stem from the influence of digital media and the varied backgrounds of students’ families. The study concludes that combining habituation practices, teacher role modeling, and value integration plays a significant role in reinforcing students’ Islamic character development.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the religious habituation strategies implemented at PAUD Adz-Dzikra in developing religious and moral values among children aged 5–6 years, as well as to analyze the behavioral changes resulting from these practices. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research involved 50 children and 4 teachers. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the habituation activities—such as Iqra reading practice, short surah memorization, Dhuha prayer, and the Friday Cleaning program—significantly contributed to the development of children’s religious and moral values. Children not only recognized basic religious teachings but were also able to apply them in real actions, including reading hijaiyah letters, performing simple worship, demonstrating politeness, honesty, helpfulness, and maintaining personal and environmental cleanliness. The religious habituation strategies applied at PAUD Adz-Dzikra proved effective in internalizing religious and moral values in accordance with the indicators of the Early Childhood Development Achievement Standards (STPPA) stated in the Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation No. 137 of 2014. This study confirms that consistent habituation is a fundamental approach to developing religious character in early childhood.

Abstract

Limited post-disaster food access emphasizes the importance of providing nutritious and easily consumed emergency food for all age groups, especially vulnerable pregnant women. Cookies, a potential emergency food, are formulated from highly nutritious local ingredients such as mocaf (Modified Cassava Flour), catfish flour (Pangasius sp.). This study aims to determine the effect of mocaf and patin fish flour formulations on the quality and nutritional value of Motin Cookies as an alternative emergency food for pregnant women. The research design was a one-factor CRD experimental study with mocaf and patin fish flour formulation formulations F1 (80%:20%), F2 (70%:30%), and F3 (55%:45%). The research method used a hedonic test to determine the organoleptic properties, calculation method to determine energy and carbohydrate content, titrimetry to determine protein content, gravimetry to determine fat content, ICP-OES to determine iron (Fe) content, and UV-Vis spectrophotometer to determine antioxidant activity values. The results of the study concluded that there were no significant differences in the hedonic test on the aspects of color, aroma, taste, texture and overall. Cookies with a 55%:45% formula have better acceptance than other formulas. The nutritional value of Motin Cookies per serving (50 grams) is 218.82 kcal of energy, 8.76 grams of protein, 8.81 grams of fat, 26.11 grams of carbohydrates, and 2.04 mg of iron. The antioxidant activity of Motin Cookies IC50 of 1325.79 mg/L is categorized as a very weak antioxidant. Further research is needed regarding the intervention of providing Motin Cookies as an alternative emergency food for pregnant women.

Abstract

Background: Iron (Fe) is a geochemically active element that needs to be monitored because excessive levels in water can reduce water quality and pose health risks. WHO sets a safe limit of Fe in drinking water at 0.3 mg/L. This condition demands an accurate, simple, and applicable Fe detection method without complex instruments. Objective: This study developed a digital imaging-based Fe(III) detection method using a natural reagent, malacca fruit extract, which is rich in gallic acid and forms a blue Fe-gallic acid complex. Methods: The study design included laboratory experiments involving gallic acid extraction, optimization of the Fe(III): extract ratio, optimization of measurement time, and evaluation of linearity, precision, accuracy, LoD, LoQ, and t-test against the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. Results: The results showed an optimum Fe(III): extract ratio of 1:2, with reaction stability up to the 5th minute. A linear relationship was obtained in the range of 0.1–2 ppm (R² = 0.9969), with an LoD of 0.1377 ppm and a LoQ of 0.4589 ppm. The %RSD values ​​of 2.34–3.82% indicate good precision, while the accuracy ranges from 92.76–111.2%. A t-test confirmed that the digital imaging results were not significantly different from those of UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Conclusion: Overall, this method offers a portable, economical, and environmentally friendly analytical approach for Fe(III) detection and provides a basis for the development of digital application-based diagnostic systems using natural reagents.
