Abstract

Background : Daycare centers provide early childhood education from morning to evening, serving children from six weeks to school age. They are essential for working parents, offering continuous care and supervision. Many daycare centers struggle to provide effective education and care, highlighting the need for better curriculum designs. The Montessori method, known for its child-centered approach, offers a potential solution.Aim : To analyze the implementation of the Montessori method in daycare services for children aged one to three years, focusing on curriculum design, execution, and evaluation.Method : This study uses a literature review method, gathering data from primary and secondary sources. Information was collected, organized, and analyzed to understand the effectiveness of the Montessori method in daycare settings.Result : The Montessori method emphasizes child-centered learning with teachers as observers and facilitators. Key principles include a prepared environment, direct and concrete learning, respect, observation, and mixed-age groups. For children aged one to three, the curriculum focuses on five areas: eye and hand coordination, music and movement, practical life activities, arts and crafts, and language. Continuous evaluation through observation and personalized reports supports holistic child development.Conclusion : The Montessori method is effective for daycare services for children aged one to three years. It promotes child development through a structured, child-centered approach, with teachers facilitating independent learning. Continuous evaluation helps in understanding and supporting each child's growth, making the Montessori method a valuable approach for early childhood development in daycare settings.

Abstract

From an early age, it is important for parents to teach their children a disciplined lifestyle. In their role as the closest figures to the child, parents bear the responsibility of shaping discipline. Self-discipline is regarded as a valued asset for a child's development, as it can have positive effects throughout their adulthood. The practice of discipline can mold a child's personality to be more organized and strengthen their ability to regulate themselves. The implementation of discipline is often associated with punishment, which can lead to child abuse. Speaking of child abuse, one of the forms that is often overlooked and considered normal is verbal abuse. This study aims to describe parents’ perspectives on the use of verbal abuse in disciplining children aged 5-6 years. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The method used is a case study. The research location was at Cendekia Pasir Putih Kindergarten Depok, West Java. The research was conducted in May 2023. Data collection using interviews and documentation. Interviews were conducted in depth with six parents. The results showed that parents' understanding of non-violent discipline is still low. Parents tend to believe that discipline and stern reprimands are acceptable without considering the long-term impact on the child's development. The implementation of discipline sometimes still involves using harsh words toward the child.

Abstract

Abstract School readiness is an essential factor for the academic success of primary school students, and children's social skills influence it, as well as teachers' understanding of transitional learning and parental support. This study examines students' school readiness, focusing on these three variables. Through a survey using tests, questionnaires, interviews and document analysis, this study was conducted among elementary school students in DKI Jakarta. It also developed a standardized school readiness instrument and a transition learning model for early-grade teachers. Results show that 50% of parents prioritize reading, 48.8% writing and 38.1% arithmetic as academic readiness. However, non-academic aspects such as disciplinary behaviour (98.8%), social skills (98.8%), emotion regulation (98.9%), independence (98.9%), and self-confidence (100%) were highly prioritized. In addition, 100% of parents supported a conducive educational atmosphere, teachers who respect students, a playful approach in the early grades, and fun learning media. In conclusion, school readiness covers academic and non-academic aspects in a balanced way, contributing to national policies to support developmentally appropriate transition learning in the early grades of primary school. The findings support Government policy in developing developmentally appropriate transition learning models for young children in the early grades of primary school. Keywords: School Readiness; Transitional Learning Model; Literacy Numeracy; Social Skills Abstrak Kesiapan sekolah merupakan faktor penting bagi keberhasilan akademis siswa sekolah dasar, dipengaruhi oleh keterampilan sosial anak, pemahaman guru tentang pembelajaran transisi, dan dukungan orang tua. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji kesiapan siswa masuk sekolah, dengan fokus pada ketiga variabel tersebut. Melalui survei menggunakan tes, kuesioner, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen, penelitian ini dilakukan pada siswa sekolah dasar di DKI Jakarta. Penelitian ini juga mengembangkan instrumen standar kesiapan sekolah dan model pembelajaran transisi bagi guru kelas awal. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 50% orang tua memprioritaskan kemampuan membaca, 48,8% menulis, dan 38,1% berhitung sebagai kesiapan akademik. Namun, aspek non-akademik seperti perilaku disiplin (98,8%), keterampilan sosial (98,8%), regulasi emosi (98,9%), kemandirian (98,9%), dan kepercayaan diri (100%) sangat diprioritaskan. Selain itu, 100% orang tua mendukung suasana pendidikan kondusif, guru yang menghargai siswa, pendekatan bermain di kelas awal, dan penggunaan media pembelajaran yang menyenangkan. Kesimpulannya, kesiapan sekolah mencakup aspek akademik dan non-akademik secara seimbang, berkontribusi pada kebijakan nasional untuk mendukung pembelajaran transisi yang sesuai dengan perkembangan anak usia dini di kelas awal sekolah dasar. Temuan ini mendukung kebijakan pemerintah dalam mengembangkan model pembelajaran transisi yang sesuai dengan perkembangan anak usia dini di kelas awal sekolah dasar. Abstract

Mengenalkan budaya Indonesia sejak usia dini dapat menumbuhkan nilai toleransi dan rasa cinta tanah air. Namun, guru PAUD seringkali menghadapi keterbatasan media pembelajaran yang relevan dan menarik untuk mengenalkan budaya kepada anak-anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengalaman guru dalam menggunakan Kotak Nusantara, sebuah media permainan berbasis pendekatan Montessori, sebagai sarana mengenalkan literasi budaya Indonesia kepada anak usia 5–6 tahun. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek empat guru kelas berbeda di Sekolah Aluna Montessori, Jakarta. Setiap guru mengajar siswa yang berbeda dan menggunakan media selama dua bulan dalam proses pembelajaran rutin. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam, dan studi dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara tematik menggunakan koding terbuka dan model Miles & Huberman. Hasil penelitian yaitu 1) Guru dapat mengenalkan literasi budaya secara konkret pada anak usia dini, 2) Pengetahuan budaya yang perlu dikenalkan kepada anak sudah tersedia pada Kotak Nusantara, 3) Terdapat buku panduan yang membantu guru dalam mengenalkan literasi budaya melalui Kotak Nusantara. Dengan demikian, Kotak Nusantara efektif sebagai media alternatif  membantu guru dalam mengenalkan literasi budaya di pendidikan anak usia dini.

Abstract

Kemampuan untuk memahami cerita dan minat baca yang anak miliki merupakan dua aspek penting dalam perkembangan anak usia dini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan kegiatan book-sharing dalam meningkatkan pemahaman cerita dan minat baca pada anak usia 4-5 tahun di dua Lembaga TK Karawang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif serta data yang dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara dengan guru dan dokumentasi selama aktivitas kegiatan book-sharing di kelas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan book-sharing dilakukan secara rutin dengan metode interaktif yang melibatkan ekspresi vokal, penggunaan gambar, serta pertanyaan terbuka untuk merangsang pemahaman cerita. Anak menunjukkan peningkatan dalam memahami alur, karakter, serta pesan moral dalam cerita. Selain itu, terdapat perubahan positif pada sikap anak terhadap buku, ditandai dengan meningkatnya ketertarikan anak untuk memilih buku secara mandiri dan keinginan untuk mendengar cerita lebih lanjut. Faktor pendukung dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan ini meliputi ketersediaan buku bergambar yang sesuai usia, peran aktif guru dalam membimbing interaksi, serta suasana kelas yang kondusif. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penerapan book-sharing sebagai bagian dari strategi literasi awal yang menyenangkan dan bermakna dalam pendidikan anak usia dini.

Abstract

Kasus kekerasan seksual pada anak usia dini di Indonesia masih tinggi, sehingga penting untuk memahami peran orang tua dalam pendidikan seks sejak dini. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi persepsi orang tua terhadap pendidikan seks pada anak usia dini. Studi ini menggunakan metode survei kuantitatif dengan kuesioner tertutup pada 100 orang tua siswa usia 5-6 tahun sebagai subjek penelitian. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif untuk mengidentifikasi pola persepsi dan dukungan orang tua. Hasil menunjukkan mayoritas orang tua memiliki persepsi positif dan mendukung pelaksanaan pendidikan seks, meskipun sebagian masih merasa canggung membahas topik ini. Implikasi penelitian ini menegaskan perlunya program sosialisasi dan edukasi yang berkelanjutan bagi orang tua, agar pendidikan seks dapat diberikan secara efektif di lingkungan keluarga. Salah satunya karena persepsi orang tua yang menganggap pendidikan seks tabu serta kurangnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam menyampaikannya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan model pengembangan profesionalisme guru PAUD di Indonesia dalam penggunaan teknologi Augmented Reality (AR) sebagai media pembelajaran. Topik ini masih belum banyak dibahas dalam studi-studi terdahulu, terutama dalam kaitannya dengan dukungan AR terhadap pengembangan profesionalisme guru PAUD di Indonesia. Kajian dilakukan dengan pendekatan narrative literature review terhadap 32 publikasibaik nasional maupun internasional yang terbit antara tahun 2017 hingga 2025. Hasil telaah menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan guru saat ini belum banyak memasukkan unsur pedagogi berbasis AR, padahal teknologi ini terbukti mampu meningkatkan partisipasi anak, memperkuat daya ingat, dan mengembangkan fleksibilitas berpikir. Artikel ini mengusulkan model pelatihan yang menekankan kompetensi digital, perancangan kegiatan pembelajaran berbasis AR, dan refleksi profesional yang berkelanjutan. Pendekatan lintas disiplin digunakan untuk menyusun model ini. Studi ini juga merekomendasikan sinergi antarpihak dalam penyediaan infrastruktur dan dukungan berkelanjutan bagi guru.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a contextual transition learning model to improve the readiness of early childhood schools in Jakarta. The method used is based on Borg & Gall's research and development process, which involves the stages of needs analysis, model design, limited testing, evaluation, and model refinement. A needs analysis of 150 children showed that 43% were ready, 38% were somewhat prepared, and 19% were not ready, with the main weaknesses identified in the social-emotional and independence aspects. The designed model consists of six phases: relaxation, orientation, exploration, collaborative planning, implementation, and expression, based on neuropedagogical principles. Limited testing results showed significant improvement, with the ready category increasing from 43% to 61%, while the not ready category decreased from 19% to 8%. Expert validation resulted in an average score of 3.78 (very good). These results suggest that the contextual transition model is effective in enhancing children's readiness and have implications for teacher practice, parental involvement, and systematic educational policy.

Abstract

This research aims to explore a father's involvement in parenting following a parenting study. This qualitative research uses a case study method which focuses on fathers' interests and needs in taking part in parenting studies, parenting studies being a source of knowledge and self-development for a father and the involvement of fathers who take part in parenting studies in the parenting process. Participants consisted of three fathers who participated in the Fatherman community. Research data was obtained from observation, interviews and documentation. Research data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. By utilizing parenting studies as a learning resource, fathers have an interest in studying parenting science based on Islamic foundations to be applied in daily care at home. This research describes the picture of fathers' involvement in parenting who took part in parenting studies. This research found several challenges, namely the lack of theory regarding parenting studies and the existence of several boundaries and norms that must be maintained regarding gender differences and marital status. Research recommends that parents, especially fathers, continue to have an interest in learning about parenting sciences to support the growth and development of children in care. It is hoped that this research will be useful for further research.

Abstract

Academic success is closely related to children's reading ability at school age. Subsequently, reading ability is largely determined by emergent literacy skills at preschool age. Considering the low national Indonesian student literacy skills ranked at the bottom layer of PISA international assessments, it becomes necessary to set up strategic methods to enhance children's emergent literacy at preschool age. There is no standardized method of teaching pre-reading ability in Early Childhood Education in Indonesia. Phonological awareness plays a significant role in reading ability, working memory, language skills, and letter knowledge. This article is part of a thesis that aims to see the effect of the foniks*PINTAR method based on phonics on the emergent literacy skills of kindergarten children. This is a qualitative study with literature research using PubMed and Google Scholar search engines with keywords phonological awareness, emergent literacy, phonics method, and foniks*PINTAR. Thirty-five relevant articles were obtained after following the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the research.It was concluded that research is required to see the effect of the foniks*PINTAR method, which is a structured, systematic, and multisensory phonics-based method on the emergent literacy skill of preschool-aged children.
