Abstract

Slow learners in inclusive elementary schools often experience difficulties in communication and problem-solving, partly due to limited access to interactive and contextual learning media. This study aimed to develop and evaluate an Immersive Virtual Reality (IVR)-based experiential learning model to enhance these skills. The study employed a Design-Based Research approach comprising needs analysis, design, implementation, and reflection phases. Participants included accompanying teachers and slow learner students from several inclusive elementary schools in East Java. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, observations, interviews, questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test instruments. Quantitative data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests, while qualitative data supported the refinement of the intervention.Expert validation indicated high feasibility, with average scores ranging from 4.7 to 4.8 across all aspects, categorized as “very worthy,” including content suitability, visual design and interactivity, integration of experiential learning principles, usability, and appropriateness for slow learners. Effectiveness testing revealed significant improvements in students’ communication skills (mean scores increasing from 66.7 to 83.0) and problem-solving skills (from 69.4 to 87.7), with p = 0.000 0.05 for both variables. The findings demonstrate that IVR-based experiential learning is both feasible and effective in enhancing communication and problem-solving skills among slow learners. By offering immersive, interactive, and meaningful learning experiences, this approach supports skill development in inclusive settings and highlights the potential of technology-enhanced pedagogy for diverse learners.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of using Augmented Reality (AR) technology in interactive storybooks on elementary students’ scientific literacy. The rapid development of digital technology requires innovative learning media to enhance students’ understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the Non-Equivalent Control Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The sample consisted of two groups of fifth-grade students at SDN Margorejo I/403 Surabaya, with 26 students in the experimental group and 26 students in the control group. Data were collected using scientific literacy tests (pretest and posttest) and student response questionnaires, and analyzed through N-Gain, normality, homogeneity, and Independent Samples t-test. The results showed that the experimental group achieved a higher improvement (N-Gain = 0.45, moderate category) compared to the control group (N-Gain = 0.22, low category). The hypothesis test indicated a significant difference (Sig. = 0.005 < 0.05), confirming that AR-based interactive storybooks significantly improve students’ scientific literacy. Additionally, questionnaire results revealed positive student responses, with high levels of motivation, interest, and engagement during learning. These findings suggest that integrating AR technology into interactive storybooks is an effective and innovative learning medium to support science education in elementary schools, despite challenges related to technological access and infrastructure.

Abstract

Early Childhood Education (ECE) is a crucial foundation in preparing Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045. However, limited learning media remains a challenge, including for Ananda Toys MSME in Karangtanjung Village, Sidoarjo, which produces Educational Play Tools (EPT). The main problems include the absence of business legality, limited product innovation, simple marketing practices, and weak financial record-keeping. This community service program aims to empower MSMEs through assistance in obtaining business legality, training in innovative EPT production based on the Flour Press Cutter, strengthening product branding and digital marketing, and training in simple financial recording. The program was implemented using a participatory approach through socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation, involving 40 participants consisting of business actors, youth organizations (Karang Taruna), PKK members, and PAUD/elementary school teachers. The results show an increase in MSME competitiveness through the acquisition of business legality, product innovation, expanded digital marketing, and more systematic financial management, while also supporting improvements in the quality of early childhood education and community welfare.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the improvement in science literacy skills of fifth-grade elementary school students through the application of Interactive Digital Storybooks based on Augmented Reality (AR) through deep learning. This research is based on the background of low literacy skills among students, which are influenced by conventional learning methods that lack context and are not yet optimal. The research method used is descriptive quantitative through a one group pretest-posttest design, namely one group of students is given a pretest, then given treatment in the form of the application of interactive digital storybook media based on AR through a deep learning approach, and then given a posttest. The subjects of this study were fifth grade students of SD. Data collection techniques were carried out through science literacy skill tests and questionnaires on student responses to the application of learning media. Data analysis was carried out based on quantitative descriptive by comparing the results of the pretest with the posttest and calculating the percentage increase in science literacy skills. The results of the study proved that there was an increase in students' science literacy skills after the application of the learning media, as evidenced by the posttest scores being higher than the pretest scores. In addition, the students' responses to the use of the media were in the very good category. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the media.

Abstract

Mangrove planting has great ecological benefits, including preventing abrasion, absorbing carbon, and supporting biodiversity. However, mangrove degradation due to land conversion and lack of public awareness requires intervention in the form of ecosystem rehabilitation. This activity also integrates environmental education to increase student awareness. The purpose of this service is to integrate mangrove conservation practices in project-based learning for students, involving instructional design theories that are relevant to real environmental issues. This activity also aims to support collaboration between universities and coastal communities. The results of this service are education to increase participants' understanding of the role of mangroves and correct planting techniques, seedlings are planted according to ecological conditions, with assistance to ensure success, then observation of seedling growth, additional rehabilitation, and community empowerment to maintain the sustainability of the program. The conclusion is that mangrove planting is not only beneficial for environmental conservation but also improves community welfare through ecotourism development. This activity supports sustainable development goals while providing practical learning experiences for students.
