Abstract

Abstrak : Keterampilan abad 21 siswa dapat ditingkatkan melalui pemberian instrumen evaluasi berbasis HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills). Berdasarkan analisis situasi pada sekolah mitra masih banyak guru yang belum menggunakan instrumen evaluasi berbasis HOTS dikarenakan ketidakmampuan guru dalam menyusun soal tes berbasis HOTS serta belum berbasis teknologi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam menyusun soal evaluasi berbasis HOTS dengan menggunakan aplikasi Live Worksheet. Kegiatan terdiri dari 3 tahap yaitu, (1) persiapan; (2) pelaksanaan; dan (3) evaluasi. Sekolah mitra yaitu SMA N 1 Benai Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi Provinsi Riau dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 30 orang. Ukuran ketercapaian kegiatan berdasarkan peningkatan pretest dan posttest serta angket respons peserta. Hasil kegiatan diperoleh bahwa pengetahuan peserta pelatihan meningkat sebesar 48.9% dan guru sudah dapat memasukan soal kedalam aplikasi live worksheet. Berdasarkan hasil angket mendapat respons positif dari peserta pengabdian mencapai 95.8% dengan kategori sangat baik. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian dapat meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam menyusun soal evaluasi berbasis HOTS melalui aplikasi live worksheet.Abstract: One way to improve students' 21st century skills is through the provision of evaluation instruments based on HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) abilities. Based on the situation analysis at SMA N 1 Benai, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province, many teachers have not used HOTS-based evaluation instruments due to the teacher's inability to prepare HOTS-based test questions and an evaluation system that is not yet technology-based. This service activity aims to improve the teacher's ability to compile HOTS-based evaluation questions using the Live Worksheet application. Service activities consist of 3 stages, namely, (1) preparation; (2) implementation; and (3) evaluation. The partners in this activity were SMA N 1 Benai, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province with 30 participants. The measure of the achievement of community service activities can be seen from the increased value of the pretest and posttest as well as the questionnaire responses of the community service participants. The results of the service activities obtained data that the knowledge of the training participants increased by 48.9% and the teacher was able to enter questions into the live worksheet application. Based on the results of the questionnaire, it received a positive response from the service participants reaching 95.8% in the very good category. It can be concluded that community service activities can improve teachers' abilities in compiling HOTS-based evaluation questions through the live worksheet application.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk merancang poster berbasis pengaruh ekstrak daun rumput teki sebagai bioherbisida terhadap gulma bandotan pada materi ekosistem kelas X Biologi SMA. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Juli - November di Laboratorium Alam Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Riau. Penelitian ini menggunakan 2 tahapan, penelitian tahap I menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan RAL yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan dengan perlakuan P1, P2, P3, P4 dan P5 berturut – turut menggunakan larutan ekstrak daun rumput teki sebanyak 3500 ppm, 4000 ppm, 4500 ppm dan 5000 ppm. Parameter penelitian meliputi panjang akar, berat basah, berat kering, tinggi tanaman dan jumlah daun. Analisis hasil menggunakan ANOVA dan uji lanjut DMRT pada taraf 5%. Penelitian tahap II rancangan poster menggunakan 3 tahapan yaitu tahap analisis, desain dan pengembangan. Hasil penelitian tahap eksperimen, ekstrak daun rumput teki berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan gulma bandotan. Perlakuan P5 konsentrasi 5000 ppm memiliki kemampuan paling tinggi dalam menekan pertumbuhan dengan panjang akar 3,37 cm, berat basah 0,34 gr, berat kering 0,085 gr, tinggi tanaman 2,7 cm dan jumlah daun 7 helai. Berdasarkan hasil validasi poster menunjukkan hasil sangat valid dengan rata-rata penilaian 3,51 yang ditinjau dari aspek kelayakan isi, kebahasaan, tampilan dan kegrafisan. Hasil rancangan poster dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran.

Abstract

Teachers play a role in planning, implementing, and evaluating the learning process. During online learning, teachers must be able to design online learning that is effective, efficient, innovative, and interesting. Based on interviews with teachers who are members of the Science MGMP SMP in Pekanbaru, information was obtained that the majority of teachers still have difficulty evaluating online learning. According to students carrying out evaluations through WhatsApp groups makes them less motivated. This service activity aims to improve teachers’ mastery of technology in using the Kahoot and Quizizz applications as an evaluation system during online learning and fostering creative and innovative attitudes. The method in community service activities is through training and technical guidance which is carried out through face-to-face and online mentoring. Participants were given a pretest and posttest questions to see the achievement of material content and were given assignments. It is known that the average pretest score of the trainees is 61.58, and the posttest value of the participants is 91.58. Seen an increase in the value of participants with N-Gain of 0.77, which indicates an increase in the value of participants in the high category. The quality of the outputs of the tasks collected by the participants was also very good. It can be concluded that the service participants have been able to create interactive quizzes based on Kahoot and Quizizz and are able to apply them in the learning process.

Abstract

Critical thinking is an ability that has a specific purpose for empowering thinking activities in science education and other disciplines. This study aims to determine student perceptions of applying the Research Based Learning in training student’s critical thinking skills. This research is quantitative descriptive. This type of research is used to analyze data by describe or describe the data that has been collected as it is. The population in this study were all students of biology education, Riau University, while the sample in this study were biology education students in semester 3 of class A who took Biology Learning Media courses. The sampling technique is through purposive sampling. The instrument used is a student response questionnaire and observation sheets that emphasizes the description of the achievement of critical thinking indicators according to Marzano and interview sheets. The questionnaire data were analyzed by calculating the percentage of student responses and the interview data were analyzed qualitatively. The result showed that students gave a positive response to the Research Based Learning in training students’ critical thinking skills by 94% and were in the very good category. The indicators of “open thinking” and “able to provide ideas” are critical thinking indicators that get responses reaching 100%. In line with the observation results that the indicator "able to provide ideas" obtained the highest percentage, namely 88% in the very good category. Each stage in the Research Based Learning in this study provides opportunities for students to develop their critical thinking skills. The results of this study can be used as a reference for developing research-based learning strategies in other subjects.

Abstract

Critical thinking is an intellectual process in making ideas and concepts logically and allows students to analyze their thinking in making choices and drawing appropriate conclusions. However, in fact, in the observations made by lecturers on students, it is still difficult to understand and complete the tasks given by the lecturers, students' critical thinking skills are still low. This study aims to improve critical thinking skills through the “student as researchers” strategy. This study uses quantitative analysis with a one group pretest posttest design. The sample in this study were Biology Education students in semester 3 (three) class A who took the Learning Media course. Data were obtained from critical thinking questionnaires and observation sheets. The data were analyzed through significance test and Gain Normalization. The research data shows that students' critical thinking abilities have increased by 0.70 in the high category after participating in learning with the "Student as Researcher" strategy. The indicator for compiling “able to express ideas/ideas” is an indicator that has the highest increase compared to other critical thinking indicators, which is 0.79 in the high category. It can be concluded that the “student as researchers” strategy can improve students' critical thinking skills

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the characteristics of nitrifying bacteria (nitrifying bacteria) in catfish processing waste in Koto Mesjid Village which are used to design booklets in biology learning material for class X high school bacteria which were conducted from September 2022 to January 2023. This type of research uses experimental and descriptive methods. The parameters used included the morphological characteristics of the bacterial colonies, namely macroscopic observations consisting of colony shape, colony color, colony edges and colony elevation and microscopic observations consisting of gram staining and bacterial cell shape. The results of the study found six bacterial isolates that showed different characteristics, namely having clear white, cream, white, and milky white colors, the shape of the colonies found were round and irregular, the edges of the colonies were wavy, flat and jagged, the elevation of the colonies was flat and raised, the surface of the colony is shiny and not shiny, the cell shape is round and rod, gram is negative and positive. Dominant gram negative bacteria were found.Keywords: Characteristics, Isolate, Booklet

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of salinity concentration on the growth profile of Bacillus cereus strain IMB-11 in degrading biodiesel fuel. This type of research was carried out using the experimental method of the effectiveness of salinity concentration on the growth profile of Bacillus cereus strain IMB-11 in degrading biodiesel fuel. This research was carried out at the Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau in December 2022 - January 2023. The data collection method used was visual observation of the growth of Bacillus cereus strain IMB-11 and the number of colonies. Results The results of the study in stage 1, the most effective bacterial growth occurred on the 3rd day, where in treatment 2 a salinity concentration of 2.5 ppm gave a more effective growth of the growth profile of the Bacillus cereus strain IMB-11 in degrading biodiesel fuel in the amount of total colonies 131x106 CFU/mL, followed by the 3rd treatment with a concentration of 5 ppm salinity with a total colony of 96 x 106 CFU/mL, treatment 4 with a concentration of 7.5 ppm salinity with a total colony of 48 x 106 CFU/mL, treatment 5 salinity concentration of 10 ppm with a colony count of 48 x 106 CFU/mL. The conclusion obtained from the study is the effectiveness of a salinity concentration of 2.5 ppm providing more effective growth on the growth profile of the bacteria Bacillus cereus strain IMB-11 in degrading biodiesel fuel with a total number of colonies of 131x106 CFU/mL.Key Words: Salinity, Degradation, Biosolar

Abstract

Abstrak: This research was conducted to determine the application of palm sugar to the organoleptic nata de sago and the design of biotechnology subject matter booklets for class XII high school level. This research was carried out in 2 stages, namely the experimental stage: the effect of palm sugar on the quality of nata de sago and the second stage of booklet design: analysis of the potential for developing teaching materials for biotechnology subject matter for class XII high school students. This study used an experimental method by conducting experiments at the Mathematics and Educational Sciences Education Laboratory (PMIPA), Pekanbaru. Sampling was carried out in a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications. The parameters in this study were thickness analysis, acidity (pH) analysis, and organoleptic tests. Based on the results of the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at the 5% level, palm sugar administration showed a highly significant different effect on the organoleptic of nata de sago. the administration of 100 grams of palm sugar gave the best increase in the quality of nata de sago and based on an analysis of the potential of the research results it could be used as a design material booklet for class XII high school biotechnology subjects.Kata Kunci : Organoleptik Nata de sago, Rancangan Booklet, Gula Aren

Abstract

Sabun cuci piring merupakan bahan yang telah menjadi kebutuhan sehari-hari terutama bagi ibu-ibu rumah tangga, sabun cuci piring memiliki fungsi sebagai penghilang kotoran dan lemak pada peralatan makan dan masak. Mahalnya produk sabun cuci dipasaran dapat diatasi dengan pembuatan sabun cuci piring sendiri dengan kualitas yang cukup baik dan lebih ekonomis yang dapat digunakan untuk kebutuhan sehari-hari maupun untuk dijual. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini yaitu memberikan penyuluhan dan pelatihan secara langsung tentang proses pembuatan sabun cuci piring cair sehingga nantinya dapat membuka peluang wirausaha untuk meningkatkan pendapatan keluarga. Metode yang digunakan yaitu melalui ceramah, diskusi dan praktik atau demonstrasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat sudah mampu membuat sabun cuci piring cair sendiri atas secara mandiri sehingga peluang untuk meningkatkan UMKM kampung tengah Desa Maredan.

Abstract

Abstrak: Observasi awal yang dilakukan di SD Islam Plus Ekatama menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan literasi siswa masih tergolong rendah. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi siswa SD. Mitra pada kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu siswa SD Islam Plus Ekatama yang berjumlah 16 siswa. Kegiatan terdiri dari (1) Persiapan, meliputi komunikasi, observasi, dan survey awal; (2) Pelaksanaan, meliputi kegiatan bimbingan intensif literasi; and (3) Evaluasi meliputi hasil peningkatan kemampuan literasi melalui kegiatan posttest. Untuk mengukur ketercapaian tujuan kegiatan yang dilakukan digunakan instrument soal Pretest dan Posttest. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh bahwa terjadi peningkatan nilai rerata Pretest yang awalnya 15,62 meningkat menjadi 46,56. Hanya ada satu siswa yang tidak mengalami peningkatan maupun penurunan (6,25%), sedangkan siswa lainnya (93,75%) mengalami peningkatan skor nilai Pretest dan Posttest. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan bimbingan intensif literasi dapat meningkatkan kemampuan literasi siswa.Abstract: Initial observations made at SD Islam Plus Ekatama showed that students' literacy skills were still relatively low. Partners in this service activityare Islamic Elementary School Plus Ekatama students totaling 16 students. Activities consist of (1) Preparation, including communication, observation, and initial survey; (2) Implementation, including literacy intensive guidance activities; and (3) Evaluation includes the results of increasing literacy skills through posttest activities. To measure the achievement of the objectives of the activities carried out, the pretest and posttest instrument was used. Based on the results obtained, there was an increase in the average pretest value, which was initially 15.62, increased to 46.56. There was only one student who did not experience an increase or decrease (6.25%), while the other students (93.75%) experienced an increase in their Pretest and Posttest scores. It can be concluded that literacy intensive guidance activities can improve students' literacy skills.
