Abstract

The question of how to improve the learning of students who score low in mathematics poses a significant challenge for researchers and teachers. Researchers investigated whether the use of video could help low-achieving students. To achieve this goal, this research uses a qualitative approach. Data was collected through interviews, pre-test, and post-test. This study involved 15 students from 3 different classes and two mathematics teachers. The researcher interviewed students and teachers about their first impressions using videos and gave a pre-test and post-test to check the answers' sentences. This study indicates that video makes it easier for students to remember the material, and students can influence what affects their understanding of mathematical concepts. The use of video proved to be an effective strategy in increasing the knowledge of mathematical concepts of low achieving students.

Abstract

Abstract: The improvement in teachers' professional competence is one of the key components to be continuously pursued to enhance the quality of education. E-mentoring has surfaced as a superior option, in contrast to conventional mentoring, by providing accessibility and adaptability. This research aims to analyse and evaluate e-mentoring and traditional mentoring for teachers' professional development, focusing on why e-mentoring might be preferred over traditional mentoring to support teachers' professional competence. The research method employs a systematic literature review of 15 articles accessed from 2020-2024. The results indicate that e-mentoring offers more accessibility and flexibility, while traditional mentoring excels in building strong interpersonal relationships. Factors influencing effectiveness include the quality of the mentor-mentee relationship, the use of technology, and the program design. Although e-mentoring shows great potential, particularly in overcoming geographical barriers, its effectiveness depends on careful implementation and adequate technological support

Abstract

The abundance of information in text and visual formats poses challenges for learners in effectively understanding and utilizing it. This study investigated the role of infographic writing, facilitated by the Canva application, in enhancing English language learning at Institut Ilmu Sosial dan Manajemen STIAMI. Specifically, it examined how infographic creation supports the development of persuasive writing skills, drawing on Victor Schwab’s Writing Theory, which identifies five essential elements: grabbing attention, showing benefits, providing proof, convincing, and calling to action. Using a descriptive case study method, the research analyzed 82 student-created infographics from the English class in the Business Administration study program. The methodology included evaluating the infographics against Schwab’s criteria and assessing their alignment with the Semester Learning Plan (RPS) to determine whether learning outcomes matched the instructional objectives. The findings revealed that while infographic writing offers potential for enhancing visual and linguistic competencies, most infographics did not meet all five criteria of Schwab’s persuasive writing framework. Common deficiencies included weak attention-grabbing elements and insufficient proof or calls to action. Furthermore, the analysis showed misalignment between the expected learning outcomes in the RPS and the actual results, particularly in terms of text structure and linguistic precision. These gaps highlighted the need for clearer instructional guidelines and targeted teaching strategies to help students effectively integrate persuasive writing principles into infographic design. This study underscored the importance of aligning pedagogical tools like infographics with established learning goals to maximize their impact on English language acquisition.

Abstract

Neurolinguistic research on language processing in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has progressed markedly in the last ten years. The variability in research methodologies and results frequently hinders the formation of a holistic comprehension of advancements in this domain. This study is to do a comprehensive literature review to summarize and evaluate publication trends, principal subjects, and commonly employed methodologies in neurolinguistic research focused on language processing in children with ASD. This analysis also indicates underexplored research areas and gaps that can inform future investigations. This research used a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology in accordance with PRISMA criteria to examine academic papers from many databases, including Google Scholar and Scopus. The research identifies numerous significant trends, such as heightened focus on lexical and semantic perception impairments, the application of brain imaging technology, and linguistics-based therapies. These findings are anticipated to provide a reference for more targeted future study and facilitate the development of therapies designed to improve language skills in children with ASD.

Abstract

Blended learning is not just simply combining online learning with face-to-face learning. It is dynamic and context dependent. It can be viewed from different contexts and perspectives. Different context has different needs and characteristics. It needs different blend of blended learning. But, blended learning has one same ultimate goal, i.e. to determine the most appropriate blend to make optimum learning experience occur. Recent literatures and studies showed that e-learning and blended learning are synonymous with synchronous and asynchronous learning. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to propose a conceptual model of blended learning design and its definition viewed from the perspective of those learning setting. This conceptual model, called quadrant of blended learning. It consists of four quadrants, i.e.: 1) quadrant 1: live synchronous learning; 2) quadrant 2: virtual synchronous learning; 3) quadrant 3: collaborative asynchronous learning; and 4) quadrant 4: self-directed asynchronous learning. As a conceptual model, it is expected that it can provide framework and idea for instructional designers in designing effective blended learning strategies.
