Abstract

Humans spend most of their time producing goods and services, which can come from factories or offices. They also spend some of their time consuming goods and services provided by others, other factories, or other offices. With the remaining time, humans also worry about what they will produce and consume in the future. Several activities take place within a city, where the approach considers the city as a living unit with integrated economic activities within it. Quality human resources are the main foundation in realizing a smart city because they are users, developers, and drivers of technology. The purpose of this study is to explain the role of quality human resources in realizing smart cities. To answer this question, a qualitative analysis approach was used, utilizing secondary data such as theoretical concepts from books and other relevant sources. The results show that quality human resources are skilled and digitally literate individuals who play a role in realizing smart cities by providing innovation in urban solutions, increasing the efficiency of public services, actively participating in decision-making, and contributing to the city's sustainable development.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of parental income and financial literacy on the financial management behavior of students (santri) at the Murotalul Qur’an Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School in Tasikmalaya. The research was motivated by unstable saving behavior among students, indicating inconsistent financial management. Using a quantitative explanatory approach, data were collected from 145 respondents through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that both parental income and financial literacy significantly influence students’ financial management behavior, with an R² value of 0.64. Financial literacy is the dominant factor, meaning students with higher financial knowledge tend to plan, save, and manage their spending better. Parental income supports financial stability but is not the sole determinant of behavior. The study concludes that financial education integrated with Islamic values is essential to build responsible and sustainable financial habits among students.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has intensified the use of social media in daily work activities, yet excessive information exposure may reduce individuals’ cognitive capacity. This study aims to analyze the mediating role of brain rot in the relationship between social media use, mental well-being, and employee productivity. A total of 282 active workers in Indonesia participated as respondents through a survey instrument adapted from previous studies, and the data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that social media use and mental well-being have negative effects on brain rot, while brain rot negatively affects employee productivity. Furthermore, brain rot significantly mediates the relationship between social media use and productivity, as well as the relationship between mental well-being and productivity. These findings highlight that declining cognitive capacity serves as a crucial mechanism linking digital behavior and psychological conditions to work performance, offering empirical contributions to the literature on digital overstimulation and its implications in the workplace, while also providing opportunities for future research on interventions to minimize the negative effects of digital content consumption on productivity.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of leadership style on employee performance with work motivation as a mediating variable. In modern organizational environments, leadership has been recognized as a critical determinant of employee performance. Effective leadership fosters a supportive work environment, enhances intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, and ultimately contributes to improved employee performance. Although numerous studies have explored the direct relationship between leadership and performance, few have rigorously assessed the mediating role of motivation using a large, representative sample. This study employed a quantitative approach using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and surveyed 100 employees from various departments of PT KLM Tangerang to test the hypothesized relationship. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using regression and mediation analyses. The results indicate that leadership style significantly influences motivation, which in turn positively influences employee performance. Furthermore, motivation partially mediates the relationship between leadership style and performance, suggesting that leadership practices foster higher motivation, which improves performance outcomes. These findings corroborate recent literature demonstrating consistent positive effects of leadership and motivation on performance. This study contributes to organizational behavior theory by providing empirical evidence on the mediating mechanisms of motivation and offers practical implications for human resource management. Organizations should prioritize leadership development programs and motivational strategies to strengthen employee performance and organizational effectiveness.
