Abstract

This study seeks to examine the impact of service quality and facilities on student happiness at Dr. Soetomo University, utilizing brand image as a mediating variable. The context of this research is based on the challenges faced by Dr. Soetomo University in maintaining and increasing the number of students, amidst tight competition between universitiesIn order to fulfil student expectations, the quality of services and facilities must be improved, as evidenced by the recent fall in student enrolment. This study tests the association between variables using a quantitative approach and path analysis tools. Data were obtained through questionnaires distributed to students of Dr. Soetomo University, which were then analyzed using various statistical tests to determine the validity, reliability, and significance of the relationship between variables. The results indicated that student satisfaction is significantly influenced by the quality of service and the availability of facilities. Furthermore, brand image was demonstrated to mediate the association between service quality and facilities with student satisfaction. A positive brand image can increase student satisfaction even though there are shortcomings in service quality or facilities. These findings indicate that in order to improve student satisfaction, Dr. Soetomo University needs to focus on improving brand image in addition to improving service quality and facilities. This research makes a significant contribution to university management in understanding the factors that influence student satisfaction. The implication is that Dr. Soetomo University is advised to improve its brand image through effective communication strategies and overall service improvements.

Abstract

General Background: Early childhood education plays a crucial role in shaping children’s development, yet teachers often struggle to conduct systematic initial assessments for identifying children with special needs. Specific Background: Despite inclusive education being a global and national priority, many kindergarten teachers lack the necessary skills, leading to delayed interventions and missed opportunities for tailored support. Knowledge Gap: Previous training programs remain mostly theoretical, one-directional, and disconnected from real classroom contexts, with limited research combining guided training and Project-Based Learning (PjBL) for early assessment in preschool settings. Aims: This study aimed to improve kindergarten teachers’ skills in conducting initial assessments of children with special needs through guided training using a PjBL approach. Results: Using collaborative School Action Research in two cycles, findings showed significant improvements in teachers’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor competencies, with more structured assessment practices and reflective attitudes toward inclusive education. Novelty: The study introduces an integrated training model that extends the application of PjBL from instructional design to early assessment, an area rarely explored in early childhood education research. Implications: The proposed model provides a replicable framework for education authorities and early childhood institutions to strengthen teacher competence in inclusive education, contributing to sustainable improvements in service quality and supporting broader educational equity goals.Highlight : Teachers’ ability in early assessment improved through guided training with PjBL. Competence increased across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. The model supports sustainable inclusive education practices. Abstract

Kata kunci: Perilaku penggunaan alat Kontrasepsi IUD, usia, paritas, pendidikan, pengetahuan, sikap, dukungan suami, peran petugas kesehatan ABSTRACT The government promotes long-term contraceptive methods, such as Intrauterine Devices (IUD), to slow population growth by effectively spacing pregnancies. Despite their effectiveness, However, interest in the Intrauterine Device (IUD) remains low . This study aimed to identify factors associated with IUD use behavior among family planning acceptors at the Ketabang Health Center, Surabaya. A total of 106 family planning acceptors were selected using purposive sampling techniques.  Independent variables included age, parity, education, knowledge, attitude, spousal support, and the role of healthcare providers, while the dependent variable was IUD usage behavior. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α<0.05. Results showed that 84% of respondents were not IUD users. Most were in the pregnancy-spacing age group, multiparous, had upper secondary education, positive attitudes, and reported good healthcare provider support. Nearly half had adequate knowledge, and spousal support ranged from poor to good. Statistical analysis indicated significant associations between IUD use and education (p=0.022), knowledge (p=0.038), attitude (p=0.008), and spousal support (p=0.000). In contrast, age (p=0.629), parity (p=0.810), and the role of healthcare providers (p=0.190) were not significantly associated. These findings suggest that family planning programs should prioritize educational interventions, promote positive attitudes toward IUDs, and encourage partner involvement, especially from husbands. Meanwhile, factors not significantly associated with IUD use should be reviewed to refine and focus program strategies more effectively. Key words: IUD use behavior, age, parity, education, knowledge, attitude, husband support, role of health workers
