Abstract

The nutritional status of toddlers is an important indicator in determining the quality of public health. In the working area of Beringin Raya Health Center, the coverage of toddlers with weight gain (N/D) in 2024 only reached 66.09%, below the national target of 88%. This community service aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of local food-based Supplementary Feeding (PMT) in increasing N/D coverage. A retrospective comparative descriptive method was used with total sampling of 23 nutritionally vulnerable toddlers. The intervention was carried out for 14 days using local ingredients such as tofu, chicken nuggets, and processed corn, accompanied by cadre assistance and Village Community Deliberation (MMD). The results showed an increase in the average weight from 9.89 kg to 10.00 kg. Inhibiting factors included low maternal nutrition literacy, weak economic conditions, and poor sanitation. The intervention also resulted in cross-sector commitments to support program sustainability. Conclusion: Local food-based PMT has proven effective in increasing toddler weight, but program integration with nutrition education, continuous mentoring, and policy support is necessary.

Abstract

Inisiasi Menyusu Dini (IMD) adalah tahap awal yang krusial dalam menunjang keberhasilan pemberian ASI eksklusif, yang memiliki peranan penting bagi tumbuh kembang dan kesehatan anak. WHO/UNICEF merekomendasikan agar IMD dilakukan dalam kurun waktu 30 hingga 60 menit pertama setelah bayi lahir, sebagai bagian dari Strategi Global Pemberian Makan Bayi dan Anak Usia Dini. Peneitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui riwayat pelaksanaan IMD pada balita stunting usia 12–59 bulan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Sawah Lebar, Kota Bengkulu pada tahun 2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi, serta melibatkan 12 ibu balita sebagai responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar ibu melakukan IMD dengan bantuan bidan atau tenaga kesehatan, namun durasinya belum sesuai dengan standar, hanya berlangsung 5–15 menit setelah persalinan. Selain itu, beberapa bayi tidak menjalani IMD karena dilahirkan melalui operasi caesar, langsung dirawat di NICU, atau segera dimandikan setelah lahir. Kurangnya pemahaman ibu mengenai pentingnya IMD juga menjadi faktor penghambat. Disimpulkan bahwa pelaksanaan IMD di wilayah ini masih belum optimal, sehingga diperlukan peningkatan pengetahuan ibu dan dukungan tenaga kesehatan untuk mencapai pelaksanaan IMD yang sesuai anjuran

Abstract

Abstrak: Diabetes mellitus (DM) merupakan gangguan metabolik memerlukan pendekatan penatalaksanaan komprehensif, pengaturan asupan zat gizi makro dan aktivitas fisik seperti senam diabetes. Ketidakseimbangan asupan mempengaruhi kontrol glikemik, senam diabetes teratur dapat meningkatkan sensitivitas insulin. Tujuan kegiatan untuk mengetahui asupan zat gizi makro penderita senam Oce Diabetes Melitus (OceDM). Metode yang digunakan adalah sosialisasi, praktek, partisipasi, ceramah, diskusi dan wawancara terstruktur. Mitra kegiatan adalah pihak puskesmas dan kader posbindu berjumlah 12 orang Peserta senam berjumlah 41 orang. Kegiatan 3 tahap yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi dilakukan terhadap proses dan efektifitas. Hasil diperoleh asupan karbohidrat kategori kurang 35 orang (85,4%), asupan protein kategori kurang 28 orang (68,3%), asupan lemak kategori tinggi 21 orang (51,2%) dan asupan serat kategori kurang 38 orang (92,6%). Terbentuk kader senam OceDM Terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan peserta sekitar 70% tentang diit DM yang diberikan. Disarankan pemangku kebijakan dan mitra kegiatan memotivasi peserta melaksanakan diit DM.Abstract: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder that requires a comprehensive management approach, regulating macronutrient intake and physical activity such as diabetes exercise. Intake imbalance affects glycemic control, regular diabetes exercise can improve insulin sensitivity. The purpose of this activity is to determine the macronutrient intake of Oce Diabetes Mellitus (OceDM) exercise patients. The methods used are socialization, practice, participation, lectures, discussions, and structured interviews. The activity partners are the community health center and 12 Posbindu cadres. The exercise participants numbered 41 people. The 3-stage activity, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation, was carried out on the process and effectiveness. The results obtained were categorized as insufficient carbohydrate intake in 35 people (85.4%), insufficient protein intake in 28 people (68.3%), high fat intake in 21 people (51.2%), and insufficient fiber intake in 38 people (92.6%). OceDM exercise cadres were formed. There was an increase in participants' knowledge of the DM diet provided by around 70%. It is recommended that policy makers and activity partners motivate participants to implement the DM diet.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease with symptoms of hyperglycemia caused by abnormalities in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Central obesity is caused by excessive fat deposits in the abdomen. Excessive fat accumulation results in insulin resistance, which is one of the factors in increasing blood glucose levels in diabetes mellitus sufferers. Diet is very influential in controlling blood sugar levels in the body to avoid complications due to diabetes mellitus. The aim is to determine the relationship between abdominal circumference and eating patterns with blood sugar levels in adult diabetes mellitus sufferers. The design used in this research was analytical observational using a cross-sectional approach, the total number of respondents was 76 people, with purposive sampling technique. The data taken is central obesity data by measuring abdominal circumference directly using a Mettline measuring tape and eating patterns using the Percieved Dietary Adherence Questionnaire (PDAQ) form. Statistical analysis uses the Chi-square test to determine the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable. The research results showed that 82.9% of respondents had central obesity and 52.6% of respondents had a diet that did not comply with dietary recommendations for diabetes mellitus sufferers. Based on statistical tests using chi square, it shows that there is a relationship between abdominal circumference and blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus sufferers (p value = 0.019) and eating patterns and blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus sufferers (p value = 0.006). The conclusion of this research is that there is a relationship between abdominal circumference and diet and blood sugar levels in adult diabetes mellitus sufferers in the UPTD area of the Puskesmas Pasar Ikan, Bengkulu City in 2024.

Abstract

The Indonesian Nutritional Status Study (SSGI) in 2022 showed that the prevalence of underweight is still quite high in Indonesia at (17.1%). Underweight or low body weight can be interpreted as a condition where infants or toddlers fail to achieve their ideal body weight. Having a nutritional status with a BB/U indicator on the threshold <˗2 SD. The main factors that cause underweight are inadequate food intake and infectious diseases. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between consumption of protein, fat and history of infectious diseases with underweight toddlers aged 12 - 59 months in the working area of Cahaya Negeri Health Center, Seluma Regency in 2024. This research method uses analytical descriptive with a cross sectional approach with a sample size of 50 underweight toddlers. The data taken were protein and fat consumption data by interview using the Semi FFQ form, history of infectious diseases by interview using a questionnaire and body weight data carried out by directly weighing the toddlers. Statistical analysis uses the Pearson correlation test. The average protein consumption was 16.8 grams, the average fat consumption was 22.5 grams, the average history of infectious disease was 2 times in the last 3 months and the average z-score result was -2.2. Protein consumption was associated with underweight (p=0.000), fat consumption was associated with underweight (p=0.003) and a history of infectious disease was associated with underweight (p=0.001). There is a relationship between the consumption of protein, fat and a history of infectious diseases in underweight toddlers aged 12 - 59 months in the working area of Cahaya Negeri Health Center, Seluma Regency in 2024. There is a need to provide a nutritious menu for additional food and monitor growth and development in underweight toddlers.   ABSTRAK Studi Status Gizi Indonesia (SSGI) 2022 menunjukan bahwa prevalensi underweight masih tergolong cukup tinggi di Indonesia sebesar (17,1%.). Underweight atau berat badan kurang dapat diartikan kondisi dimana anak bayi atau balita gagal dalam mencapai berat badan idealnya. Memiliki status gizi dengan indikator BB/U diambang batas < ˗2 SD. Faktor utama yang mengakibatkan underweight adalah asupan makanan yang kurang dan penyakit infeksi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara konsumsi protein, lemak dan riwayat penyakit infeksi dengan balita underweight usia 12 – 59 bulan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Cahaya Negeri Kabupaten Seluma tahun 2024. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif analitik dengan pendekatan Cross Sectional dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 50 balita dengan underweight. Data yang diambil adalah data konsumsi protein dan lemak dengan cara wawancara menggunakan formulir Semi FFQ, riwayat penyakit infeksi dengan cara wawacara menggunakan kuesioner serta data berat badan yang dilakukan dengan penimbangan langsung kepada balita. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji korelasi pearson. Rata rata konsumsi protein yaitu 16,8 gram, rata rata konsumsi lemak yaitu 22,5 gram, rata rata riwayat penyakit infeksi yaitu 2 kali dalam 3 bulan terakhir dan rata rata hasil z-skor yaitu -2,2. Konsumsi protein berhubungan dengan underweight ( p=0.000), konsumsi lemak berhubungan dengan underweight (p=0.003) dan riwayat penyakit infeksi berhubungan dengan underweight (p=0.001). Ada hubungan antara konsumsi protein, lemak dan riwayat penyakit infeksi dengan balita underweight usia 12 – 59 bulan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Cahaya Negeri Kabupaten Seluma tahun 2024. Perlunya pemberian menu yang bergizi pada makanan tambahan dan pemantuan tumbuh kembang pada balita  underweight.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem influenced by multiple factors, including dietary intake and maternal conditions. Low calcium and zinc intakes can hinder bone growth and metabolic processes, thereby increasing the risk of stunting. In addition, short maternal height, as a reflection of past nutritional status, played a role in fetal growth. This study aimed to analyze the association between calcium and zinc intake, maternal height, and the incidence of stunting among children in Bengkulu City. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design and was conducted at the Sawah Lebar Primary Health Center, Bengkulu City, from April to May 2024. A total of 77 children aged 6–59 months were selected using simple random sampling. Dietary intake data were obtained through interviews using a semi-FFQ, while nutritional status was assessed using the height-for-age index. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation test. The results showed a significant association between calcium intake (r = 0.636), zinc intake (r = 0.280), and maternal height (r = 0.290) and stunting. In conclusion, the importance of adequate Ca and Zn intake and maternal nutritional status in supporting child growth. Therefore, nutritional interventions should be implemented early, not only for children but also for adolescent girls as future mothers.

Masa balita, khususnya dua tahun pertama kehidupan merupakan usia emas bagi anak karena pertumbuhan dan perkembangannya yang cepat. Oleh karena itu, terjadinya gangguan nutrisi pada masa itu bisa bersifat permanen dan tidak dapat diubah. Penelitian ini mengkaji hubungan antara inisiasi dini pemberian air susu ibu dan vitamin A dengan status gizi. Total sampel yang dianalisis dalam penelitian ini adalah 1.592 anak di bawah lima tahun (balita) berusia 6-59 bulan yang diambil dari Pemantauan Status Gizi Indonesia 2015 di Bengkulu. Data termasuk usia, jenis kelamin, inisiasi menyusui dini, panjang kelahiran, berat lahir, suplementasi vitamin Adikumpulkan dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Berat dan tinggi anak diperoleh melalui pengukuran antropometri. Lebih dari setengah balita (54,6%) tidak mendapat inisiasi menyusui dini. Berdasarkan hasil analisis multivariat, variabel yang paling dominan terkait dengan indikator weight/age, height/age dan weight/height adalah inisiasi menyusui dini dan suplemen vitamin A. Balita yang tidak mendapat inisiasi menyusui dini berisiko 1,555 kali me-ngalami stunting dibanding balita yang mendapat inisiasi menyusui dini. Variabel yang paling dominan terkait dengan height/age adalah suplementasi vitamin A. Anak yang tidak mendapatkan suplemen vitamin A berisiko mengalami stunting 2,402 kali dibandingkan anak yang mendapat suplemen vitamin A. Toddler period, especially the first two years of life is considered as golden age for children because of their rapid growth and development. Therefore, the occurrence of nutritional disorders in the period can be permanent and irreversible. This study tried to assess correlation between early initiation of breastfeeding and vitamin A with nutritional status. The total of samples analyzed in this study was 1,592 toddlers aged 6-59 months that were drawn from 2015 Indonesia Nutritional Status Monitoring Survey in Bengkulu. Data including age, sex, early initiation of breastfeeding, birth length, birth weight, vitamin A supplementation were collected by using questionnaire. Weight and height of children were obtained through anthropometric measurements. More than half of the toddlers (54.6%) did not get early initiation of breastfeeding. Based on multivariate analysis results, most dominant variables related to weight/age, height/age and weight/height indicators were early initiation of breastfeeding and Vitamin A supplementation. Toddlers who did not get early initiation of breastfeeding are at risk of 1.555 times stunting compared to toddlers who got early initiation of breastfeeding. The most dominant variable related to height/age is vitamin A supplementation. Children who do not get vitamin A supplementation are at risk of stunting 2.402 times compared to children who get vitamin A supplementation.

Abstract

Traditional foods are foods consumed by a certain ethnic group in a specific region. The habit of consuming traditional foods is usually inherited by the family members, including toddlers, of a respective generation. The study aimed to determine relationship of maternal knowledge, attitude, and practices in traditional food feeding with stunting and wasting of toddlers in the farmer families of the Central Bengkulu District. This study employed a cross-sectional design with a sample of mothers with children aged 12–59 months. The sample included a total of 115 farmer families. Data on nutritional knowledge, attitude, practices about traditional food, sex of children, and the number of family members were collected via interviews conducted with the mothers; stunting and wasting status data were collected via height and weight measurements. Data were analyzed bivariately using the chi-square test. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was also used in this study. It was found that there was a relationship between nutritional knowledge of traditional food and nutritional status of weight-for-age (p-value = 0.031), and there was a correlation between nutritional practices of traditional food and wasting incidence (p-value = 0.012). According to the height-for-age index, the nutritional status was related to the maternal knowledge of traditional food, whereas the maternal nutritional practice with traditional food had a significant relationship with the weight-for-age index.
