Abstract

Background: The 2022 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey results show that the stunting rate reaches 21.6%, wasting 7.7%, and underweight 17.7%. Malnutrition problems in toddlers, especially those suffering from Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI), are often exacerbated by the provision of Complementary Feeding that does not meet nutritional standards. Therefore, greater attention to complementary feeding quality is essential to improving children's nutritional status and reducing the risk of ARI complications. Objective: To identify the relationship between the quality of complementary breastfeeding and nutritional conditions, such as underweight, wasting, and stunting, in children under two years of age suffering from ARI, as an urgent effort to address malnutrition problems and improve children's health in vulnerable communities. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design with a target of toddlers aged 6-24 months who suffered from ARI, with a sample of 96 children. Data on complementary breastfeeding was collected through interviews using questionnaires, as well as weight measurements with digital scales and height with a lenghtboard. Statistical analysis using the Chi-square test. Results: Nutritional problems in two-year-old children with ISPA were found to be 44.8% underweight, 60.4% wasting, and 36.5% stunting. Complementary Feeding quality that did not meet the recommendations was significantly associated with the incidence of being underweight (p-value 0.035; OR 2.488), and wasting (p-value <0.0001; OR 6.657), but was not significantly associated with the incidence of stunting (p-value 0.95; OR 0.973).Conclusion: The quality of Complementary Feeding that does not meet nutritional standards in children with ARI is significantly related to the incidence of underweight and wasting.

Abstract

Abstract

High blood pressure is a global health problem with increasing prevalence and is associated with sodium, fiber, and fat. The high consumption of fast food is a serious public health concern, primarily due to the unbalanced nutritional composition of fast food. Fast food is very high in saturated fat and sodium. High sodium content contributes to increased body fluid volume, which can trigger hypertension, while saturated fat contributes to atherosclerosis, or narrowing of the arteries. To analyze the relationship between fat and sodium consumption from fast food and blood pressure in adults in the Telaga Dewa Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in Bengkulu City. This study used a cross-sectional design, with a sample size of 61 adults (21–65 years old) selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using a correlation test. The average fat consumption of respondents was 52.7 g, and sodium consumption was 763.1 g. The average systolic blood pressure was 127 mmHg, and diastolic blood pressure was 85 mmHg. The analysis showed a significant association between fat consumption and blood pressure (p=0.000) and between sodium consumption and blood pressure (p=0.000). Consumption of fat and sodium in fast food is related to blood pressure, showing a strong relationship, meaning that the higher the intake of fat and sodium, the greater the tendency for increased blood pressure. There is a relationship between showed a significant association between fat consumption and blood pressure, so sodium and blood pressure.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The role of Posyandu cadres is crucial as the spearhead in public health services. However, many cadres still do not have adequate understanding and skills. Ideally, cadres are able to manage Posyandu independently because they understand the needs of the community in their area. The purpose of this study is to improve the knowledge and skills of cadres in monitoring toddler growth accurately and standardized in the Kembang Seri Health Center area. The method used in this activity is to fill out a pretest sheet followed by providing counseling related to anthropometric measurement and filling out a posttest sheet. The type of normality test used is the Shapiro-Wilk type normality test. The results of the Paired Sample T-Test test show that the average value of the difference (mean difference) between the pretest and posttest is -35.714 with a calculated t value = -17.678, degrees of freedom (df) = 6, and a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) = 0.000. Conclusion: The training provided to Posyandu cadres has a significant effect on increasing their knowledge and skills in conducting anthropometric measurements and interpreting KMS. Keywords: Training, Knowledge, Anthropometry.
