Abstract

Several marine product processing sectors still produce by-products that are not optimally managed and utilized, including Patin fish bones (Pangasius hypophthalmus) as a by-product of marine product processing. In this era that demands sustainability, waste management has become a crucial issue. It is no longer about how waste can be destroyed, but how waste management has an impact. From a mineral perspective, patin fish bones are rich in calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P), which play an important role in bone and tooth formation, making them a potential source for value-added products. Patin fish bone floss is a value-added product as an innovation in the utilization of Patin fish bones, which in its manufacture uses natural additives, one of which is young jackfruit. The dietary fiber in young jackfruit helps maintain the dry texture of the floss because the fiber in young jackfruit can absorb oil content, thereby increasing stability during cooking. The results of the study also prove that the average sensory score was 8.5 for shredded fish with the addition of young jackfruit, and 8 for shredded fish without the addition of young jackfruit. This proves that the addition of young jackfruit greatly affects the production of shredded patin fish bones. Not only does it have health benefits, but patin fish bone abon as an innovative product also has added value in the economic sector, namely as a business idea with low production costs and a social impact through the creation of jobs.

Abstract

The exploitation of natural resources in coastal areas and small islands in Indonesia shows the strong influence of the ideology of extractive capitalism. This ideology often causes ecological conflicts. For example, in the case of the rejection of gold mining that occurred on Sangihe Island, North Sulawesi. This article examines the contemporary Indonesian novel Perempuan yang Tunggu di Lorong Menuju Laut by Dian Purnomo in representing this problem. This study is a qualitative study with an interdisciplinary approach. The main theoretical framework used is ecocriticism (Glotfelty & Buell), extractive capitalism (Gudynas, Harvey, and Bebbington), and the concept of slow violence (Nixon) with a close reading method of the text. The results of the study show that the novel represents: the ideology of anthropocentric-extractive capitalism that reduces Sangihe Island to an economic commodity; dismantles the mechanism of power that conquers law and politics through the practice of elite and ruler collusion; displays the ecocentric resistance of the Sangihe community based on ancestral wisdom and spirituality. In conclusion, this novel voices an ideological critique of the hegemony of anthropocentrism and extractive capitalism and calls for a just and sustainable ecological awareness. Given the novel's limited data, further studies could consider exploring other research subjects or developing a theory of this research subject.

Abstract

UMKM Kerupuk Subur is one of the SMEs quite well-known for its cracker products and is located at Jl. Gedongkuning Gg. Nuri No.66, RT.2/RW.33, Wonocatur, Banguntapan, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. Product packaging is one of the important factors in maintaining the quality of the crackers to keep them crispy and not easily soggy. Currently, UMKM Kerupuk Subur still uses ordinary plastic packaging that is only tied with a string, so its protection against physical damage and product quality deterioration is still limited. Besides functioning as a protector, product packaging also serves as a consumer attraction that can influence purchasing decisions. In 2024, UMKM Kerupuk Subur experienced a production and sales decline of 4.58 percent, which is suspected to be influenced by packaging factors. This study aims to develop Kerupuk Subur packaging based on customer criteria and needs. The Green Quality Function Deployment approach is used to obtain comprehensive information in designing packaging according to consumer needs and preferences. The results of identifying consumer needs show priorities such as packaging that is easy to open, resealable, transparent, environmentally friendly, durable, and tear-resistant. Based on these needs, packaging development alternatives were designed, including an easy-open system, durable and tear-resistant packaging, and resealable packaging to maintain product quality and crispness. Then, testing was conducted with 50 respondents to assess consumer satisfaction. The level of consumer satisfaction falls into the satisfied category, with an average score of 4.18, where 80% of respondents stated they were satisfied or very satisfied with the designed packaging prototype.
