Abstract

This research identifies leadership styles at private universities in Central Java, analyzes organizational culture, and formulates strategies for the success/survival of private universities. Primary data was obtained through in-depth interviews with 9 university leaders as informants, with stratified sampling based on excellent, excellent, and good accreditation categories. Semi-structured interviews focused on leadership approaches, organizational culture, success strategies, and challenges. The data were analyzed using ATLAS.TI with thematic analysis. The results show that private universities have characteristics, such as leadership styles, that form different organizational cultures. There are differences in higher education management strategies between accreditation categories, especially in strategic priorities according to institutional goals. Superiorly accredited universities tend to prioritize research excellence, international collaboration, and innovative academic programs. The implication is that understanding the relationship between leadership, organizational culture, and strategic priorities can help universities align these elements for optimal effectiveness in achieving success in the competitive environment of higher education.

Abstract

Piyungan Landfill in Bantul, Indonesia, still uses an open dumping system, leaving environmental impacts. This research examined the effects of open dumping on the socioeconomic and health conditions of nearby populations. Surveys and interviews using questionnaires were employed with households as the analysis unit. From four sub-villages (Ngablak, Banyakan III, Sentulrejo, and Baruwan I), 128 respondents were sampled randomly. Statistical quantitative analysis was employed to analyze the research data. Descriptive statistics were selected to describe sample data. Data were then expressed as percentages and presented in pie charts. Results show that for people who salvaged recyclables, the landfill was their primary source of livelihood. More than half (62.5%) earned an average of IDR1,093,095 (approximately USD70) per month as waste pickers. However, open dumping lowered the environment’s aesthetic value due to the unpleasant view and smell, and large populations of animals like rats, flies, cats, and mosquitoes attracted to waste piles. Nearly all respondents (90.6%) expressed their anxiety about these adverse effects, triggering social conflicts. It was claimed that property values and public health were, however, unaffected. Most respondents stated that the landfill did not lower the property values (96.9%) and did not cause health concerns (71.9%).

Abstract

Umbul Sidomukti is an excellent tourist area with several tourist objects. Umbul Sidomukti tourism was designated as a tourist attraction because the area has a potential economic value from the tourism sector. This study aims to determine the economic value of the Umbul Sidomukti tourist attraction based on the travel cost method (TCM). This study uses the travel cost method based on primary data from in-person interviews and online surveys with 105 visitors visiting the Umbul Sidomukti tourist area. The study results show that the relationship between travel costs and distance and the number of tourist visits has a ceteris paribus negative relationship following tourism demand. Service and income variables have a positive effect that is not significant. Meanwhile, the potential economic value of the Umbul Sidomukti tour is estimated at Rp. 28,142,763,075 per year. This research can be used to develop natural tourism objects using the travel cost approach, especially the Umbul Sidomukti tourism object.

Abstract

Background. Research Background The importance of occupational safety and health (OHS) standards to safeguard employee welfare and company performance, research on the review of companies' compliance with OHS through a field inspection approach is highly relevant. This background is due to the fact that OHS standards have been established and regulated, but companies' compliance with these standards is often inconsistent. Purpose. The objectives of this study are many-fold. As a first step, the study aimed to evaluate the company's level of compliance with applicable OHS standards. It is important to know the general level of compliance in the workplace. In addition, the purpose of the study was to find places where compliance may not be fully met. This identification can form the basis for improvement initiatives. Method. This study used the field inspection method, which involves a direct visit to a work site to observe and evaluate the implementation of occupational safety (OSH) standards. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews with relevant personnel, and examination of OHS-related documents. A sample of companies was randomly selected from various industrial sectors to represent a wider range of people. Results. According to the study, there are differences in the level of companies' compliance with OHS standards. While some companies have low levels of compliance, others still have low levels of compliance. Compliance is often breached in areas such as the use of personal protective equipment, emergency evacuation procedures, and handling of hazardous chemicals. Lack of OHS training, lack of management oversight, and high production priorities are some of the factors affecting compliance. Conclusion. In conclusion, this study emphasizes how important it is to improve OHS standards in companies to make the working environment safer and healthier. Suggested improvements include more OHS training, more management supervision, and more sanctions for OHS violations.

This research discusses the strategies employed by Islamic religious counselors in empowering the community of Kampung Dakwah in the Punggur District of Central Lampung Regency. The study aims to analyze the strategies of Islamic religious counselors, identify challenges, and examine the outcomes achieved through the implementation of the strategies used by Islamic religious counselors in empowering the community in Kampung Dakwah. This research is qualitative in nature and employs observation, interviews, and documentation as methods of data collection. The data sources are divided into two categories: primary data sources and secondary data sources, which will be analyzed using data triangulation and conclusion drawing methods. The findings of this research indicate that: (1) The strategies employed by Islamic Religious Counselors in community empowerment in Kampung Dakwah are carried out through stages of awareness raising, transformation of intellectual improvement, and strategy evaluation. (2) The challenges faced include the limited capability of religious counselors in the field of economic empowerment.
