Abstract

Abstract: Bekasi Regency, being one of the key cities in Indonesia, offers a suitable setting to study the intricacies of marriage decision-making during a quarter-life crisis. This study focuses on the application of clustering algorithms to categorize individuals based on their marriage choices. Data was collected from a questionnaire completed by 110 respondents from Bekasi Regency, specifically individuals aged 18 to 30 who are single, including 80 women and 30 men. Data analysis was conducted using the RapidMiner software to evaluate the effectiveness of three clustering algorithms K-Means, X-Means, and K-Medoids in categorizing marriage decision patterns among young people experiencing a Quarter Life Crisis in Bekasi Regency. Results indicate that each algorithm has its own strengths and limitations in handling Quarter Life Crisis data. The results of the analysis show that the K-medoids algorithm provides the best clustering results with the lowest DBI value of 0.195, followed by the X-Means algorithm with a value of 0.199 and K-Means with a value of 0.207. These results can help understand the pattern of marriage decisions in the Quarter Life Crisis phase and help provide insights for policymakers in Bekasi Regency to make more effective intervention programs.            Keywords: K-Means; K-Medoids; X-Means  Abstrak: Sebagai salah satu kota besar di Indonesia, Kabupaten Bekasi memberikan konteks yang tepat untuk mempelajari kompleksitas pengambilan keputusan pernikahan di tengah krisis seperempat usia. Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia is the world's fourth-largest exporter of instant noodles, following South Korea, China, and Thailand, with a positive growth trend of 9.47% over the past five years (BPS, 2024). However, despite this growth, in 2022, Indonesian instant noodle products were recalled in several export destination countries due to contamination with ethylene oxide (EtO) and 2-chloroethanol (2-CE). This issue has the potential to reduce market access and hinder Indonesia’s export performance in the future, not only for instant noodles but also for processed food products in general. In this case, the Recursive Dynamics Computable General Equilibrium (RDCGE) model was constructed to analyze the trade impact of the product recall on Indonesia's export performance. Under the assumption of a 9% export decline in the Malaysian market, the results indicate a GDP reduction of -0.003%, a total export volume decrease of -0.006%, and a trade balance decline of USD -0.0014 million. From a consumer protection perspective, if EtO and 2-CE contamination is not mitigated, it will not only affect market access abroad but also pose risks to consumer safety domestically, particularly concerning food safety issues. Long-term consumption of food contaminated with EtO and 2-CE can lead to serious health problems. Considering the recommendations from the analysis, Government has proposed that EtO and 2-CE be included in the priority list of residues to be harmonized within the Codex framework.

Abstract

Unemployment among the productive-age population remains a significant issue in urban areas, particularly in Bekasi City, which recorded an open unemployment rate of 7.82% in August 2024—much higher than the national average of 4.91%. This study aims to classify productive-age unemployment using a machine learning approach with the K-Means Clustering algorithm to provide a more comprehensive understanding of unemployment patterns. This research adopts a quantitative approach with the use of SPSS version 25 and RapidMiner software. SPSS is used for validity, reliability, multicollinearity tests, optimal cluster determination, and ANOVA. Primary data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents, with 75 valid responses meeting the criteria (productive age, unemployed, and actively seeking employment). The research variables include age, education level, unemployment duration, perception of job opportunities, self-perception, and factors causing unemployment. The K-Means analysis resulted in three main clusters: the pessimistic cluster (low motivation), the neutral cluster (moderate perception), and the optimistic cluster (high motivation). Evaluation using ANOVA showed that the variables significantly differentiate between the clusters. These findings emphasize that productive-age unemployment is heterogeneous and requires cluster-based specific policies.
