Abstract

Persistent gender gaps in labour-force participation (LFPR) constrain productivity and inclusive growth across East Asia and the Pacific (EAP). While many factors shape women’s economic engagement, structural gender inequality and disparities in human capital are consistently cited as key explanations. This study examines whether cross-country variation in the LFPR gap (male minus female, percentage-point difference) is associated with (i) the Gender Inequality Index (GII) and (ii) the male–female gap in secondary-education attainment. We conduct a cross-sectional, country-level analysis using secondary data from the United Nations Development Programme’s Human Development Report Statistical Annex (reference year 2023). Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) is estimated with heteroskedasticity-robust (HC3) inference. Robustness checks include institutional and health covariates—women’s representation in parliament, adolescent birth rate, and maternal mortality. Multicollinearity diagnostics (variance inflation factors) indicate low collinearity among regressors. Descriptive patterns show that countries with higher GII values and wider secondary-education gaps tend to exhibit larger LFPR gaps. In multivariate models, higher GII is positively and statistically associated with wider LFPR gaps. The secondary-education gap is positively related to the LFPR gap, though its magnitude and significance attenuate when institutional and health controls are included. Results remain directionally stable across specifications. Reducing gendered participation penalties in the EAP likely requires a dual strategy: expanding women’s secondary-education completion and strengthening enabling institutions (e.g., anti-discrimination enforcement, childcare and care infrastructure, safe and flexible work arrangements). Future work using panel or microdata is warranted to assess dynamics and mechanisms more precisely.

Abstract

Namun, tantangan utama meliputi rendahnya literasi keuangan, belum optimalnya digitalisasi UMKM, dan belum termanfaatkannya limbah minyak jelantah menjadi produk bernilai jual.

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between career adaptability and career anxiety among job-seeking individuals with disabilities in Indonesia and tested the mediating role of Future Time Perspective (FTP) within the frameworks of Career Construction Theory and Social Cognitive Career Theory. Survey data from 120 respondents were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. Results show that career adaptability significantly reduces career anxiety and strongly predicts FTP. However, FTP neither predicts career anxiety nor mediates the relationship between adaptability and anxiety. These findings suggest that under structural labor-market constraints, adaptability functions primarily as a direct self-regulatory resource rather than through future-oriented cognition. The study highlights contextual limits of temporal cognition models and underscores the importance of strengthening adaptability in career interventions for individuals with disabilities

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of work–life balance and flexible work arrangements on work fulfillment among Generation Z employees in hybrid work systems, with employee engagement acting as a mediating variable. A quantitative research design was employed by collecting data from 200 Generation Z employees who had at least one year of experience working in a hybrid system. Data were gathered through an online questionnaire using validated measurement scales and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 4. The results reveal that work–life balance and flexible work arrangements have a positive and significant effect on employee Engagement and work fulfillment. Employee engagement also significantly influences work fulfillment and partially mediates the relationships between work–life balance, flexible work arrangements, and work fulfillment. The model shows moderate explanatory power with R² values of 0.315 for employee engagement and 0.371 for work fulfillment. These findings imply that organizations should design hybrid work policies that emphasize balanced work-life boundaries, structured flexibility, and engagement-enhancing practices to improve sustainable work fulfillment among Generation Z employees.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of work expectations on intention to apply among Generation Z in Indonesia, with a particular focus on the mediating roles of social media use and organizational attractiveness in the context of digital recruitment. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed using a cross-sectional survey of 231 Generation Z individuals preparing to enter the labor market, and the data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that work expectations do not have a direct effect on intention to apply; however, they significantly influence both social media use and organizational attractiveness. Furthermore, social media use has a significant positive effect on intention to apply, whereas organizational attractiveness does not show a significant influence. Mediation analysis indicates that social media use fully mediates the relationship between work expectations and intention to apply, while organizational attractiveness does not act as a mediator. These results imply that social media serves as a critical mechanism in translating job seekers’ expectations into application intentions, highlighting the importance for organizations to optimize digital recruitment strategies through interactive, informative, and engaging social media content to effectively attract Generation Z talent.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work-life balance and compensation on turnover intention, both directly and through job satisfaction as a mediating variable, among Generation Z employees working in coffee shops in Pontianak City. The method used is quantitative, employing Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The research sample involved 194 respondents, namely students aged 18–26 years who are still actively studying and have at least one year of work experience in a coffee shop, which was selected through the purposive sampling method. The results of the study show that Work-Life Balance has a negative and significant effect on Turnover Intention, both directly and indirectly through Job Satisfaction, as a mediating variable, among Generation Z employees working in coffee shops in the Pontianak City area. Meanwhile, compensation does not have a significant direct effect on Turnover Intention, but it has a positive and significant effect on Job Satisfaction, which, in turn, reduces Turnover Intention. In addition, Job Satisfaction has been shown to have a negative and significant effect on Turnover Intention and to mediate the relationship between Work-Life Balance and Compensation for Turnover Intention.
