Abstract

Abstrak: Kemelekan sains dan kemelekan inkuiri adalah dua hal penting yang harus dikuasai secara memadai oleh peserta didik dalam era globalisasi. Telah dilakukan penelitian dengan tujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat kemelekan sains dan kemelekan inkuiri guru-guru mata pelajaran IPA SMP. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 25 orang guru IPA SMP yang sedang menempuh program S2 pada Program Studi Magister Pendidikan IPA di Universitas Mataram tahun akademik 2012/2013. Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan pola pretes-postes dan diberikan perlakuan berupa pelatihan berjenjang dengan total waktu 400 menit (4 kali tatap muka). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kemelekan sains dan inkuiri guru-guru IPA SMP masih tergolong rendah. Dalam pola pelatihan berjenjang seperti ini guru hanya mampu meningkatkan kemelekan sains sebesar 1% dan kemelekan inkuiri sebesar 5%. Mengingat pentingnya peran kemelekan sains dan kemelekan inkuiri bagi peserta didik maka perlu dilakukan upaya sistematis untuk meningkatkan kompetensi profesional para guru khususnya aspek kemelekan sains dan kemelekan inkuiri.Kata kunci: kemelekan, sains, inkuiri Abstract: Science literacy and inquiry literacy are two important aspects of life skills needed by both teachers and students in this globalization era. This research has been undertaken to analyzed science and inquiry literacy of high school science teachers in West Nusa Tenggara Provence. The research subjects consist of 25 teachers who joined the master degree in  the Magister Study Program of Educational Sciences in the University of Mataram during academic year 2012/2013. The research has been designed as one group pretest-postest experiment. The teacher students have been trained for 4 times of lecturer classes which equal to 400 minutes. The results of this research shown that the average scores  of science literacy and inquiry literacy of those student teachers can be categorized as low level (M ≤ 50%). The average scores of science literacy increased only 0,7 % and the inquiry literacy score increased about 5% after the training. Due to the important of these aspects in the context of science, therefore it is strongly recommended to constructs systematic and continuous efforts to help improve the teachers professional competences includes the science literacy and inquiry literacy.Keywords: literacy, sience, inquiry

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas dan pengaruh multimedia interaktif berbasis flash (MIBF) dan model 5E terhadap  keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Desain penelitian eksperimen adalah pretest-postest non-equivalent control group dan setting pelaksanaan penelitian dengan rancangan faktorial  2 x 2. Populasi penelitian adalah kelas VIII SMPN6 Mataram, sebanyak 196 siswa yang tersebar di 7 kelas. Sampel  dipilih dengan simple random sampling dan diperoleh 97 siswa yang tersebar di 4 kelas yakni kelas VIIIB menerapkan model pembelajaran 5E tanpa menggunakan MIBF, kelas VIIIC menerapkan model pembelajaran 5E dan menggunakan MIBF, Kelas VIIID menerapkan model pembelajaran 2EK tanpa MIBF, dan kelas VIIIE menerapkan model 2EK dan menggunakan MIBF. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengaruh penggunaan MIBF (F = 100,96, p = 0,00) dan model 5E (F = 65,46, p = 0,00) pada sikap terhadap sains. Terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara MIBF dan model 5E (F = 38,64, p = 0,00) terhadap keterampilan perpikir kritis dan terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara MIBF dan model  5E(F = 13,05, p = 0,00) pada sikap terhadap sains siswa. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa MIBF dan model 5E efektif meningkatkan sikap tergadap sains.Kata kunci: MIBF, model 5E, sikap terhadap sains. Abstract: The aim of this study was to know effectiveness and effect of flash based interactive multimedia (FBIM) and 5E model toward students attitudes toward science. Experimental research desain was pretest-postest non-equivalent  control group and faktorial  2 x 2. The population consist of  196 students spread in 7 classes. These classes are grade VIII in SMPN6 Mataram. Sample  was choosen by using simple random sampling, Sample of this reseacrh consist of  97 students spread in 4 classes are grade VIIIB applied 5E model without FBIM grade VIIIC applied 5E model and FBIM, grade VIIID applied  2EK model without FBIM, and grade VIIIE applied 2EK model and  FBIM Result of experiment reseach shows that there are significant effect of FBIM (F = 100.96, p = 0.00) and 5E model (F = 65.46, p = 0.00) on attitudes toward science. There are significant effect of interaction between FBIM and 5E model (F = 13.05, p = 0.00) on attitudes toward science. It can be concluded that FBIM and 5E model are effective to enhance students attitudes toward science.Keywords: Flash based interactive multimedia, 5E model, attitudes  toward science.

Abstract

Abstrak: Saat ini sekolah belum menerapkan suasana belajar yang mengembangkan kemampuan siswa, terutama dalam kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Sehingga tingkatan kemampuan berpikir siswa hanya berada pada tataran berpikir tingkat rendah yang tidak memiliki penalaran dan kemampuan menyelesaikan  masalah yang nyata. Pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan strategi pembelajaran kooperatif menjadi alternatif pendekatan pembelajaran yang dapat meningktakan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh penerapan pembelajaran (PBM terintegrasi STAD, PBM dan STAD), kemampuan akademik siswa dan interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran dengan tingkat kemampuan akademik siswa terhadap kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah dan hasil belajar kognitif biologi siswa kelas X SMAN 3 Mataram. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi experiment  dengan Pretest-Posttes Nonequivalent Control Group Design, perlakuan dengan seting faktorial 2 x 3. Populasi penelitian sebanyak 480 siswa yang tersebar dalam 12 kelas. Teknik sampling dipilih dengan cluster random sampling dan diperoleh 120 siswa yang tersebar dalam 3 kelas. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan  adanya pengaruh yang signifikan (p<0,05) pada penerapan strategi pembelajaran (PBM terintegrasi STAD, PBM dan STAD) terhadap kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah  dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa.  Tingkat kemampuan akademik siswa (tinggi dan rendah) juga menunjukkan pengaruh yang signifikan (p<0,05) terhadap kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah  dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Namun interaksi antara srategi pembelajaran dengan kemampuan akademik siswa tidak berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah  dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa (p>0,05). Kata kunci: Pembelajaran berbasis masalah, strategi kooperatif, kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah, hasil belajar kognitif. Abstract: Currently the school has not implemented a learning environment that develops students' skills, particularly in the ability to solve problems and cognitive learning outcomes of students. So the level of students' thinking skills are only at the level of the low-level thinking and reasoning that does not have the ability to solve real problems. Approach to problem-based learning and cooperative learning strategies into alternative learning approach that can drive the students' learning outcomes. This study aimed to investigate the effect of the application of learning (STAD integrated PBL, PBL and STAD), academic ability of students and interaction between learning strategy and academic level of students' ability to problem-solving ability and cognitive learning outcomes biology class X student of SMAN 3 Mataram. This research is a quasi-experiment with pretest Posttes Nonequivalent Control Group Design, treatment with 2 x 3 factorial setting. The study population of 480 students in 12 classes spread. Sampling technique selected by random cluster sampling and obtained 120 students spread into 3 classes. Statistical test results showed a significant effect (p <0.05) on the application of learning strategies (STAD integrated PBL, PBL and STAD) the ability to solve problems and cognitive learning outcomes of students. Students' level of academic ability (high and low) also showed a significant effect (p <0.05) to the problem-solving skills and cognitive learning outcomes of students. However, the interaction between the strategy of learning with students' academic abilities do not affect the ability to solve problems and cognitive learning outcomes of students (p> 0,05).Keywords:      Problem-based learning, cooperative strategies, problem-solving skills, cognitive learning outcomes.

Abstract

Abstrak : Penelitian tindakan kelas merupakan salah satu proses inkuiri yang penting untuk dilaksanakan oleh guru dalam rangka meningkatkan kualitas proses dan hasil belajar peserta didik. Ada tiga karakteristik PTK yang perludipahami yakni, 1) dilaku-kan atas dasar adanya masalah yang dipicu oleh kesadaran guru bahwa praktik pembelajaran yang dilakukannya di kelas memerlukan perbaikan, 2) merupakan suatu bentuk kegiatan inkuiri yang dilakukan melalui refleksi diri, dan 3) dilaksanakan di dalam kelas oleh guru secara terintegrasi dengan kegiatan pembelajaran dan dapat menjadi tindakan inovatif guru dalam proses pelaksanaan tugas profesinya. Dalam rangka mengembangkan semangat dan kemampuan guru untuk melaksanakan PTK maka guru perlu difasilitasi untuk berperan serta sebagai peneliti pendamping dosen, diciptakan peluang dan akses untuk mengikuti diseminasi tentang hasil penelitian dan teori-teori serta praktik PTK di sekolah.Kata kunci : PTK, inkuiri, teori-praktik, peneliti pendampingAbstract : Classroom action research is one form of teacher inquiry activities to improve the quality of teaching processes and student learning achievements. There are three important characteristics of classroom action research (CAR) that should be known by teacher. First, it is conducted by teacher based on their awareness in relation to his/her teaching process. Second, it is a teacher’s inquiry activity which should be conducted through self reflection. Third, it is conducted by teacher as form of teaching innovation during his/her professional activities. In the efforts to developsteacher spirits and ability to proceeds classroom action research, therefore it is important to provide broad facility for teacher to be involved in lecturer’s research activities as co-researcher and to joint dissemination of scientific articles about theories and practices of the lassroom action research.Keywords : CAR, inquiry, theory-practices, co-researcher

Abstract

Abstrak. Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi dan informasi yang sangat pesat akhir-akhir ini memberikan dampak pada hampir semua aspek kehidupan manusia, termasuk pada masalah lingkungan. Dalam rangka menghadapi permasalahan lingkungan  hidup yang sangat kompleks dan multidimensi, pembelajaran biologi memegang peran penting. Model pembelajaran biologi berbasis proyek dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif untuk mengem­bangkan sikap ilmiah dan kesadaran lingkungan di kalangan siswa. Materi pelajaran Biologi dalam pembelajaran berbasis proyek dapat diintegrasikan dengan mata pelajaran lain seperti Bahasa Inggris, Bahasa Indonesia, Matematika, dan IPS. Penugasan siswa untuk mengembangkan proyek-proyek biologi dapat membantu siswa untuk berlatih mengum­pulkan dan menganalisis data, mengidentifikasi variabel, menyelesaikan masalah, dan mengkomunikasikan hasil kerjanya. Melalui kegiatan mengerjakan proyek biologi siswa bahkan dapat berperan merehabilitasi kondisi lingkungan yang terancam rusak. Tentu semua hal tersebut akan dapat berhasil dengan adanya inisiatif, kerja keras, dan kolaborasi antara guru, sekolah, orangtua dan masyarakat.Kata kunci: biologi, proyek, sikap ilmiah, kesadaran lingkungan.Abstract: The development of science, technology and information which grow very rapidly nowadays affect almost all aspects of humans life includes the human’s environment. In order to solve the very complex and multi dimension environment problems, the teaching of biology plays an important role. Project based model of teaching biology can be an alternative to develop the students scientific attitude and their environment awareness.  This model of teaching capable of integrating the subject of biology to other subjects includes English, Indonesian, Mathematics, and Social Science. Student tasks in form of some projects help student to learn by doing through activities of collecting and analyzing data, to identify variables, to solve problems, and to communicate their project results. Furthermore, through project activities, student can involve to rehabilitate the unwanted environmental conditions. Of course, all of those efforts would be useful if there are initiatives, strong efforts, and collaboration between teacher, school staffs, student parents and the communities around the school.Key words: biology, project, scientific attitude, environmental awareness.

Abstract

Scientific Reasoning and Scientific Attitude are important aspects of scientific literacy for students to master because they are directly related to the development of science and technology. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Problem-Based Learning model on students' Scientific Reasoning and Scientific Attitude abilities. This type of research is classified as a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The study population consisted of 13 classes of the 10th grade of MAN 2 Mataram, from which two classes were selected as samples determined by purposive sampling techniques. Data were obtained by administering the Scientific Reasoning test and the Scientific Attitude questionnaire. Data analysis techniques include a comparison of average scores and the Mann-Whitney statistical test. The results showed that the experimental class obtained an average score of 75 points (formal), and the control class obtained a score of 72 points (transitional) on the Scientific Reasoning aspect. On the Scientific Attitude aspect, the experimental class obtained a score of 69 (High) and the control class obtained a score of 63 (Moderate). In addition, the Asympt. sig (2-tailed) value on the Scientific Reasoning aspect is greater than 0.05, which is 0.466, while on the Scientific Attitude aspect it is 0.003 or less than 0.05. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that although the Problem-Based Learning model has a significant effect on Students' Scientific Attitude Ability, its impact on Scientific Reasoning Ability is not statistically significant in the context of this study. This can be influenced by external factors that cannot be fully controlled in the research implementation process.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is an essential competency for prospective science educators in understanding scientific concepts, applying scientific methods, and making decisions based on scientific evidence. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Ecotourism-Based Field Practicum Model (MPLBE) in improving the scientific literacy of prospective biology teacher students. The subjects of the study were students of the Biology Education study program, FKIP, Mataram University, who took the vertebrate Zoology course. The research design used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The experimental group used the MPLBE model that focused on the study of ecology and conservation of the Megapodius reinwardt bird in the Gunung Tunak and Kerandangan Nature Tourism Parks, while the control group followed conventional practicums in the laboratory. The research instrument was a scientific literacy test that had been validated by experts. Quantitative analysis was performed on the effectiveness of the model using N-Gain and the Mann-Whitney Test. The results of the data analysis showed a significant difference in the increase in scientific literacy scores between the experimental and control groups. These findings indicate that the MPLBE model is effective in improving students' scientific literacy. This model not only strengthens the understanding of biological concepts contextually, but also builds environmental awareness and scientific thinking skills of prospective biology teachers. This study recommends the integration of ecotourism in biology learning as an innovative approach based on local potential.

Abstract

Students’ limited ability to connect theoretical concepts with real-life phenomena, coupled with monotonous lecture-based teaching, has led to low engagement in learning. This study investigates the effect of the Quantum Learning model on students’ metacognitive skills and scientific reasoning. Using a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group, the study involved 41 tenth-grade students at SMA 1 Labuapi, divided into an experimental group (n = 20) and a control group (n = 21), selected through saturated sampling. The Metacognitive Skills Scale (MSS), adapted from Mustafa and Nuray, and a scientific reasoning test based on the Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoning (CTSR) developed by Lawson, were used for data collection. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests at a significance level of α = 0.05. Results showed significant improvement in both groups, with the experimental group experiencing greater gains in metacognitive skills (mean diff. = -20.050; SD = 5.624; p = 0.000) and scientific reasoning (mean diff. = -32.200; SD = 5.978; p = 0.000) compared to the control group (metacognitive: -11.905; SD = 5.558; scientific reasoning: -14.619; SD = 5.826; both p = 0.000). These findings indicate that the Quantum Learning model is effective in enhancing metacognitive awareness as well as scientific reasoning and is recommended for use in science education to improve student engagement and thinking skills.

Abstract

Biology learning in high school often faces challenges due to students’ reliance on teacher explanations and conventional textbooks, which tend to be less engaging and limit the development of critical and entrepreneurial skills. To address this issue, innovative teaching materials are needed that not only improve students’ understanding of biological concepts but also foster creativity and independence through entrepreneurship-based approaches. This study aims to develop and test the validity of biopreneurship-based biology teaching materials for high school students. The research employed a 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) with a focus on the first three stages. Validation of the teaching materials was conducted by three expert validators using questionnaires, and the results were analyzed with the Aiken index. The construct validity assessment produced values ranging from 0.58 to 0.94, while content validity ranged from 0.63 to 0.75, both categorized as valid. Additionally, the readability test using the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level showed that most of the text fell within the easy-to-moderate range, making it suitable for high school students. These findings indicate that the developed materials meet the scientific and pedagogical standards required for classroom use. Furthermore, the integration of biopreneurship elements into the biology content provides an innovative approach that not only enhances students’ conceptual understanding but also motivates them to develop an entrepreneurial spirit, particularly in managing biological resources. Overall, this study concludes that the developed teaching materials are valid, relevant, and beneficial for high school biology learning, making biology both meaningful and applicable to students’ real-life contexts.

Abstract

Biological literacy and scientific attitudes are important aspects that need to be developed in students because they are related to the ability to understand biological concepts contextually and foster scientific thinking. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' biological literacy and scientific attitudes. The type of research used is a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 58 eleventh-grade students at MAN Lombok Barat, selected using purposive sampling, with the experimental class receiving PBL instruction and the control class receiving conventional instruction. Data were collected through validated biology literacy tests and scientific attitude questionnaires. Data analysis techniques included mean value comparisons and ANCOVA tests using SPSS version 26. The results showed that the average biology literacy score in the experimental class increased from 53.8 to 72.5, while the control class increased from 53.5 to 76.6. In terms of scientific attitude, the experimental class improved from 32 to 36.9, while the control class increased from 36 to 37.2. The results of the ANCOVA test revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes in biological literacy, with a p-value of 0.004 (p < 0.05). Similarly, in the scientific attitude, a significant difference was observed with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the application of PBL has a significant effect on improving students' scientific attitudes; however, its effect on biology literacy is less optimal than that of conventional learning. This is thought to be influenced by time constraints and other external factors that cannot be fully controlled during the research.
