Abstract

LKPD (Student Worksheet) based on discovery learning  is intended to provide learning knowledge directly in the process of meaningful learning activities so as to direct students to find learning concepts. This study aims to determine the level of feasibility, practicality and effectiveness of LKPD based  on Discovery Learning to train students' critical thinking skills on respiratory system material. Researchers used the R&D (Research and Development) method  using a 4-D development model (Define, Design, Development and Desemminate) developed by S. Thiagarajan, Dorothy S. Semmel, and Melvyn I. Semmel in 1974. The test subjects in the study consisted of 36 students from class XI IPA SMA PAB 4 Sampali. The results showed that the feasibility value of developing LKPD from material experts was 86.1% with the very feasible category and LKPD experts by 75% with the feasible category. Then the percentage of practical scores for LKPD development from biology teachers and students of science XI was 82.14% and 83.47% respectively with the practical category. The effectiveness of LKPD development based on individual completeness from  the pre-test  and post-test students obtained an average N-Gain  score of 62.14, so the use of the method has been effective because the N-Gain normality value obtained between 0.30 < g < 0.70 with the "effective" criterion. Then for the N-Gain score value of 0.62, this value is in the medium category because the N-Gain score is between 0.3-07 with the category "medium N-Gain". From the overall results including valid, practical and effective categories, it can be concluded that LKPD based  on Discovery Learning on the equipment system material is suitable for use and distribution to PAB 4 Sampali High School.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to explore the implementation of the Independent Learning Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar) and the challenges faced by teachers during its implementation. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The subjects of the study are the School Principal and Biology teachers at SMA Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan. Data collection involved observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was ensured through Technique Triangulation. The findings indicate that SMA Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan has implemented various aspects related to the Independent Learning Curriculum, one of which is the application of the Pancasila Student Profile through Project-Based Learning. Based on interviews, teachers encounter challenges in determining assessments that align with the intended learning objectives, especially in project-based learning scenarios. This confusion stems from the variety of assessment types such as presentations, projects, products, oral assessments, written assessments, and others. To address these issues, both the School Principal and teachers attend monthly training sessions as part of the Teacher Working Group (Kelompok Kerja Guru, KKG) to tackle problems and enhance teacher competence in teaching and learning activities.

Abstract

This research utilized a cooperative learning model of make a match type assisted by a 3D application to investigate the influence of students' conceptual understanding on the topic of the digestive system in Grade XI of a Private High School in Medan City. The objectives of this study were to determine the impact of using the cooperative learning model of make a match type assisted by a 3D application and to assess students' conceptual understanding of the digestive system material. The research design employed was a non-equivalent control group quasi-experimental approach with a quantitative method. The study was conducted with an experimental group and a control group. The instruments administered to both groups consisted of pretest (before treatment) and posttest (after treatment) essay questions adjusted according to conceptual understanding indicators. Data analysis included descriptive statistical approach, inferential analysis, and independent t-test hypothesis testing to evaluate the influence and differences in students' conceptual understanding between the experimental group (treatment) and the control group using conventional learning models. The results of this study indicated that the posttest scores in the experimental group increased by 73.95 points, compared to only 12.19 points in the control group. The findings suggest a significant impact of the treatment (experimental group) on students' conceptual understanding of the digestive system material in one of the Private High Schools in Medan City.

Abstract

The application of science and technology (IPTEK) in education has generated several learning innovations, including the use of media in learning. The purpose of this research was to develop a product in the form of project-based learning (PjBL) animated videos based on the circulatory system material for grade XI in high schools, which is valid, practical, and suitable for use. Research and development (R&D) activities included data collection on student and teacher needs. The development phase aimed to produce learning media products involving media experts, subject matter experts, and biology teachers. Subsequently, the product was tested with 12 students in a limited group and then with 38 students in a broader group to determine its media feasibility. The development of PjBL-based animated video products was evaluated using instruments covering several aspects: validation sheets for media, including text composition balance, images, sound, and video, color selection, physical criteria, practicality, and long-term usefulness. Validation sheets for content included aspects of learning promotion, curiosity enhancement, presentation support, material accuracy, and student engagement. Practitioner validation sheets covered material, language, and presentation aspects, while student response questionnaires addressed material, language, and presentation. Based on the expert media validation assessment recapitulation, the overall score indicated the product was highly valid and suitable for use in learning, with an average percentage of 84.00%. Similarly, the expert content validation recapitulation showed the product to be highly valid and suitable for use in learning, with an average percentage of 88.00%. The practitioner assessment by biology teachers indicated the product was highly practical and suitable for use in learning without revision, with an average percentage of 91.19%. Additionally, the limited and broad group product tests showed an average student response rate of 85.00%, indicating that the developed animated video is suitable for use in learning without revision.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and produce a product in the form of a valid and practical science process skill-based LKPD that can improve students' skills in science process skills. The research methodology used is research and development (R&D) using the 4D development model. Data collection was carried out through interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The data analysis method used is qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that the developed LKPD is feasible to use. Based on the results of observations and interviews, LKPD is able to facilitate students to conduct investigations and play an active role in the learning process so that it can improve the results of students' scientific work. The percentage of effectiveness achieved was 88.625% (very effective) and the level of practicality was 92.5% (very practical). The results of the N-Gain test showed an average N-Gain of 0.5709 (moderate) and a percentage of 57.09% (quite effective). Thus, it can be concluded that the developed LKS is feasible to use in learning activities and can improve students' science process skills.

Abstract

rgumentation is one of the methods used to strengthen students' scientific concepts, especially in biology learning. This quantitative study aims to determine the effect of argumentation skills on students' scientific literacy and also to find out the improvement of students' scientific literacy by using argumentation skills of class X IPA-1 MAS CIPTA students of Simpang Dolok village. The population in this study involved the entire class X IPA-1 MAS CIPTA Simpang Dolok village, the sampling in this study used a simple random sampling technique without a control class. The instruments in this study were Essay test questions with scoring that adapted from TAP (Toulmin's Argumentation Petteren) for argumentation skills and essay tests for scientific literacy. The data was collected using a tabular sheet obtained from the argumentation Skill scores and the pretest and posttest scores for scientific literacy. As well as document documentation and photos. The data analysis technique uses the calculation of the N-gain score of scientific literacy due to the influence of Argumentation Skills, while the hypothesis testing uses a simple linear regression test and a paired simple t-test. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive and significant linear effect between argumentation skills on students' scientific literacy and a significant increase in students' scientific literacy using argumentation skills. Keywords: scientific literacy, problem based learning, argumentation skill. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i3.pp1286-1295

Abstract

The scientific literacy understanding ability of Indonesian students according to PISA results from 2000 to 2012 shows that Indonesia continues to decline in rank. In 2015, Indonesia's PISA score has increased, although it increased, it is still much lower than the international average PISA 500 score. Teaching materials are one of the factors that affect students' understanding of scientific literacy. A balanced aspect of scientific literacy has not been fully incorporated into teaching materials in Indonesia. Therefore, it is necessary to develop balanced teaching materials for science. This study aims to determine the characteristics, feasibility, legibility, and improvement of students' scientific literacy. The research method used is research and development. The object of this research is SMP Karya Bunda. The sampling technique was carried out using a simple random sampling technique. The final product of this research is educational material that presents aspects of scientific literacy, namely science as knowledge, science as research, science as a mindset, and the interaction between science, technology, and society. The results of the feasibility test showed that the teaching materials met the criteria very well with a score of 87.98. The results of the readability test showed that the teaching materials used were easy to understand with average readability of 67%. The test results (victory test) showed that the average understanding of the experimental class's science understanding was 67.3%, while the control class was low at 30.8%. These results indicate differences in the improvement of scientific literacy between students who use technical materials and those who use ordinary materials in school.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of scientific literacy of high school biology textbooks grade XI based on the theme of scientific literacy and specifically this study emphasizes the dimensions of scientific literacy. This study uses a qualitative approach with the method (content analysis). The selection of biology textbooks analyzed using purposive sampling technique obtained two biology textbooks grade XI used in Medan Tembung District. Data on the assessment of scientific literacy was collected by analyzing one chapter in the biology textbook. Data analysis was conducted using the documentation method. The results of the research on the two books showed that scientific literacy as a body of knowledge became the most dominant dimension appearing in book II at 75% while in book I at 72.5%. The dimension of science as a way of thinking has a small proportion in book II which is 45%, while in book I it is 42.5%. Science as a way of investigation with an average percentage in book II of 45%, while in book I it is 42.5%. The dimension of science and its interaction with technology and society appears more after science as a body of knowledge, in book II which is 55% and book I is 52.5%. From these results, it can be concluded that the level of scientific literacy of grade XI high school biology textbooks used in Medan Tembung District is quite good according to the assessment criteria. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat literasi ilmiah buku teks pelajaran Biologi SMA kelas XI berdasarkan tema literasi ilmiah dan secara khusus penelitian ini menekankan pada dimensi literasi ilmiah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode (content analysis). Pemilihan buku teks pelajaran biologi yang dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling didapat dua buku teks pelajaran biologi kelas XI yang digunakan di Kecamatan Medan Tembung. Data penilaian terhadap literasi ilmiah dikumpulkan dengan menganalisis satu bab pada buku teks biologi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan metode dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian pada kedua buku menunjukkan bahwa literasi sains sebagai batang tubuh pengetahuan menjadi dimensi yang paling dominan muncul pada buku II sebesar 75% sedangkan pada buku I sebesar 72.5%. Dimensi sains sebagai cara berfikir proporsinya sedikit pada buku II yaitu sebesar 45%, sedangkan pada buku I 42.5%. Sains sebagai jalan investigasi dengan rata-rata persentase pada buku II sebesar 45%, sedangkan pada buku I sebesar 42.5%. Dimensi sains dan interaksinya dengan teknologi dan masyarakat muncul lebih banyak setelah sains sebagai batang tubuh pengetahuan, pada buku II yaitu sebesar 55% dan buku I sebesar 52.5%. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa tingakat literasi ilmiah buku teks pelajaran biologi SMA kelas XI yang digunakan di Kecamatan Medan Tembung cukup baik sesuai dengan kriteria penilaian.

Abstract

Siswa dalam lingkungan pendidikan saat ini harus mampu berpikir kritis. Keterampilan ini memungkinkan Anda menilai konten secara kritis dan mencapai kesimpulan yang cepat dan mendidik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana penggunaan HOTS dalam pembelajaran di kelas mempengaruhi kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas X SMA mengenai sistem ekskresi. Penelitian ini mengambil pendekatan kuantitatif dan menggunakan metode eksperimen semu. Dalam penelitian ini dikembangkan eksperimen semu dengan kelompok kontrol yang tidak dapat dibandingkan sebelum dan sesudah pengujian. Penelitian ini melibatkan seluruh siswa kelas XI sebagai sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok kontrol mempunyai skor rata-rata 52,26, sedangkan kelompok eksperimen mempunyai skor rata-rata 53,86 dan 84,23. Tingkat signifikansi dua sisi untuk uji-t sampel independen adalah 0,000, lebih kecil dari ambang batas 0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima, artinya pembelajaran diskusi kelas berbasis HOTS mempunyai pengaruh yang cukup besar terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI SMA pada sistem ekskresi.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah handout terintegrasi paradigma wahdatul ulum pada materi sistem pernapasan untuk menaikkan hasil belajar siswa MAS AL-FALAH ini layak, praktis, dana efektif dalam proses pembelajaraan. Metode penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) ini menggunakan model 4D (Define, Design, Develop. dan Disseminate). Instrumen penelitian menggunakan lembar observasi, lembar wawancara, lembar validasi, angket dan tes. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa handout terintegrasi paradigma wahdatul ulum pada materi sistem pernapasan yang dikembangkan telah valid, sehingga layak untuk diterapkan dalam proses pembelajaran dengan persentase 100% (ahli materi), 92,25 (ahli media), dan 92% (ahli agama). Selain itu, hasil angket respons guru dengan persentase 95% dan angket respons siswa dengan persentase 91,92% menunjukkan betapa praktis penggunaannya. Dilihat dari hasil N Gain yaitu sebesar 0, 81 maka handout dinyatakan efektif dengan kriteria “Tinggi”. Maka dari hasil penelitian dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa handout terintegrasi paradigma wahdatul ulum pada materi sistem pernapasan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa MAS AL-FALAH telah dinyatakan valid, praktis, dan efektif digunakan. Pengembangan handout pada penelitian ini dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa serta guru dapat menggunakannya sebagai bahan ajar selama proses pembelajaran.
