Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the application of the Iqra Method in strengthening the quality of Qur'an recitation of MTs Qoryatul Qur'an Weru Sukoharjo students. The main focus of the research is to assess the effectiveness of this method in improving the accuracy of machraj, the application of tajweed laws, and the fluency of students' recitation. The background of the study is based on the low quality of Qur'anic reading among madrasah students, so an approach that not only emphasizes basic literacy, but also fosters sustainable reading that is tartil and religious is needed. Methods: The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of one tahfiz teacher and ten seventh grade students selected by purposive sampling. Data were obtained through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model through the stages of data reduction, presentation, and verification. Validity was strengthened by triangulation of sources and techniques. Results: The results showed that the gradual, systematic, and corrective application of the Iqra Method improved students' ability to pronounce letters, apply the laws of tajweed, and read fluently and correctly.

Abstract

Difficulty in comprehending Javanese, which has a rich vocabulary and many expressions, makes it challenging for students to find the moral values contained within the text. Therefore, the objective of this research is to determine the students' ability to find moral values and to identify the factors influencing their ability to do so in the Javanese folk tale, "Gunung Tugel," for 4th Grade Javanese Language subject. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques involved observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity was checked using a credibility test with triangulation, utilizing other sources outside the data for cross-checking purposes. The data analysis technique employed the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of Data Reduction, Data Display, and Verification. The results indicate that the students' ability to find moral values in the "Gunung Tugel" story is low. This is reflected in their inability to identify the inherent moral values. Students tend to view the story merely as entertainment without delving into the underlying meaning. This limitation suggests that the development of students' intellectual capacity in evaluating and reflecting on moral values from narrative texts is not yet optimal. Influencing factors include: minimal student interest and motivation towards folk tales, the perception that folk tales are only entertainment, the "Gunung Tugel" story being considered less interesting by some students, and constraints in understanding the language of the story, which becomes the main obstacle in finding the moral values.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the creativity of Qur’anic Literacy (Baca Tulis Al-Qur’an/BTA) teachers and to analyze its implications for improving the Qur’anic reading quality of tenth-grade students at SMA Islam 1 Surakarta. The study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, in which participants were selected through purposive sampling, involving BTA teachers, students, and school administrators. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using an interactive thematic analysis technique. The findings indicate that teacher creativity is reflected in the use of adaptive teaching methods, differentiated strategies based on students’ abilities, and the creation of a supportive and reflective learning environment. These strategies contribute to improvements in reading fluency, accuracy of makhraj, application of tajwid rules, and students’ confidence. The novelty of this study lies in its conceptual synthesis that the improvement of Qur’anic reading quality occurs through the integration of varied methods, differentiated instruction, and teachers’ emotional support as a unified pedagogical system. Furthermore, this study emphasizes that teacher creativity is a contextual and reflective practice in Islamic education, particularly at the senior high school level.

Abstract

This article aims to conduct bibliometric research on ship crew members who carry out guard duty on ships. Research gaps in watchkeeping studies are identified and analyzed. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, namely by describing data visualization. The keyword chosen is "watchkeeping". Data was collected from journals that have been published in Scopus indexed journals using publish or perish (PoP) and completed using Mendeley. Next, the data is input into VOSviewer. The results obtained from the publish or Perish search found as many as 200 articles on the topic of watchkeeping published in the period from 1960 to 2023. Next, the results of data processing with VOSviewer obtained results based on keywords divided into 6 clusters. Overall, bibliometric analysis on the topic of watch keeping provides important insights into the research analyzed, which will help researchers, practitioners and policy makers understand the latest developments which are increasingly dynamic and continue to develop.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to (1) determine the attendance rate of 11th-grade students at the library in MAN 1 Surakarta, (2) determine the reading literacy level of 11th-grade students at MAN 1 Surakarta, (3) determine the effect of the attendance rate of 11th-grade students at the library on reading literacy at MAN 1 Surakarta. This research uses a quantitative research type with a survey method. The data collection methods used are questionnaires and documentation. To test the hypothesis, statistics were used with simple regression analysis techniques. The population in this study consists of 473 students, and according to Arikunto, 25% of the population can be taken if it exceeds 100 people, so the sample size for this study is 118 respondents, namely 11th-grade students at MAN 1 Surakarta for the 2024/2025 academic year. The research results show that: 1) The attendance rate of 11th-grade students at MAN 1 Surakarta is categorized as "sufficient" with an average score of 17.2, which falls within the interval of 14-20. 2) Reading literacy among 11th-grade students at MAN 1 Surakarta is 70 students with a percentage of 59%.3) Based on the hypothesis test results using the product moment correlation and simple regression analysis, a value of 0.554 was obtained. While the significant value at 95% is 0.176, the calculated r is greater than the table r, thus it can be concluded that HA is accepted, which is "There is a significant influence between the attendance rate of 11th-grade students and reading literacy at MAN 1 Surakarta."

Abstract

This study examines the roles and strategies of Islamic Religious Education teachers in addressing Qur’an reading difficulties among second-grade students at Kuttab Al-Husnayain. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed to understand students’ reading difficulties, teachers’ pedagogical responses, and the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting Qur’anic learning. Data were collected through classroom observation, interviews, and documentation and validated through extended observation and triangulation. Data analysis followed the interactive process of data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings identified four major difficulties: distinguishing similar hijaiyah letters, articulating letters according to their correct makh?rij, differentiating long and short sounds, and maintaining learning focus and motivation. Teachers addressed these difficulties through four interconnected roles as educators, instructors, mentors, and evaluators. Their strategies included daily Qur’an reading habituation, collective reading, repetition, talaqqi, individual assistance, direct correction, and continuous evaluation. A religious school environment, varied instructional methods, and parental cooperation supported the learning process, while differences in students’ initial abilities, insufficient home practice, and low motivation hindered progress. The study concludes that Qur’anic literacy instruction requires individualized guidance, systematic repetition, direct teacher modeling, supportive emotional interaction, and continuity between school and family. Therefore, schools are recommended to strengthen structured Qur’an reading assistance, routine formative evaluation, and sustained teacher-parent collaboration to provide continuous support for students experiencing reading difficulties.
