Abstract

The environment is a critical issue in sustainable development in Indonesia, with significant variations in environmental quality between regions. This study seeks to examine the influence of the Regional Government Budget, COVID-19 (as a dummy variable), Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and the Human Development Index (HDI) on the Environmental Quality Index (EQI) in Indonesia. The data for this study were obtained from BPS–Statistics Indonesia and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, covering the period from 2018 to 2022. The analysis employs multiple linear regression using panel data. Panel model testing indicates that the fixed effects model with cross-sectional lag provides the best fit. The results show that, collectively, all variables have a significant influence on Indonesia's Environmental Quality Index (EQI). Individually, the Regional Government Budget for environmental purposes, the COVID-19 dummy variable, and the Human Development Index (HDI) have a significant positive impact on EQI. In contrast, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) has a significant negative effect. These findings highlight the need for comprehensive macro-socioeconomic policies to sustain and enhance environmental quality in Indonesia.

Abstract

One of the industries that have been most negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic is the tourism industry, which has seen a major drop in international travel, an increase in domestic travel, and changes in consumer behavior. This study aims to study the intention of people to travel and the willingness of people to pay more for safety and precautions when traveling. These studies have addressed the matter of the lack of research on changes in the behavior and patterns of travelers. A total of 239 valid questionnaires were collected using an online survey with a purposive sampling technique. The PLS-SEM is employed to test the model. The theory of planned behavior (TPB) as a conceptual framework. Perceived risk influences the attitude of Indonesian Tourists in post-pandemic but has no influence on perceived behavior control. Attitude has a positive and significant direct influence on intention to travel and willingness to pay more. Perceived behavior control influences on intention to travel but no influence on willingness to pay more. Lastly, the intention to pay more does not influence willingness to pay more. The empirical findings have the potential to enhance the implementation of safety precautions in tourism services and the formulation of efficient strategies to revive tourism. This study substantially contributes to the body of knowledge because presented empirical proof of travel behavior patterns in Indonesia in the post-pandemic.

Abstract

Abstract

Starting in 2004 with the issuance of the Law on Financial Relations between the Central and Regional Governments, the era of Regional Transfers also began. This transfer to the regions is expected to solve many problems of inequality in the regions that have not been reached by the central government. Based on BPS data in 2020, Indonesia's population reached 270 million with the percentage of poor people still in double digits. The pandemic from 2020 to 2022 also contributed to the increase in poverty. The pandemic in that year increased unemployment in the community which also contributed to poverty. In addition, the high birth rate, which according to several studies, is also a contributor to poverty. This research takes secondary panel data sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance, the Ministry of Finance. This study uses the Random-Effect model by taking data for the period 2020 to 2022. The results showed that TKD, Birth, and Unemployment together had a positive impact on poverty. However, it was found that the unemployment variable had no significant effect. With this research, the government is expected to make TKD more targeted and control the birth rate.

Abstract

The consumption of bottled drinking water (BDW) shows a significant upward trend globally, but is accompanied by public confusion regarding the fundamental differences between the various types of products available, especially mineral water and demineralized water. This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis based on scientific evidence of the two types of water. Using a systematic literature review of indexed primary research articles, this study examines the differences in definition, production process, chemical composition, and implications for human health. The analysis shows that mineral water, with its natural mineral content, calcium, and magnesium, significantly benefits bone and cardiovascular health. Conversely, long-term consumption of demineralized water is not recommended for the general population because it risks causing electrolyte imbalances and leaching essential nutrients from food during cooking. The optimal choice of water type is proven to be highly dependent on individual physiological contexts; mineral water is ideal for daily hydration and athlete recovery, while demineralized water has a crucial role in specific medical applications such as hemodialysis and has the potential to reduce the risk of kidney stones in susceptible individuals. It is concluded that mineral water is a physiologically superior choice for daily consumption by the general public. Better public education is needed to improve consumer understanding in choosing drinking water that suits their health needs

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever has a staggering 390 million cases to date and was the predominant virus in 128 countries in 2022. This study aims to determine vaccination safety and response with respect to negative endpoints over time in the cohort. A systematic review and meta-analysis was performed according to the 2020 PRISMA statement. Comprehensive searches were performed for primary open-access articles in the PubMed and Scopus databases from years 2013-2023. Statistical analysis used random effect modelling a pooled relative risk would be calculated for the efficacy of the vaccine using proportional difference methodology, with 960 articles retrieved (10 articles meeting inclusion criteria incorporated 157,345 study participants) data was arrived in a 2023 publication whereby. The findings were as follows: the tetravalent dengue vaccine had an overall pooled efficacy of 64.6% (95% CI 47.4%-76.2%) and I² 94.7%, with TAK-003 being more efficacious (76.8%, 95% CI 60.8%-86.2%) than CYD-TDV (53.6%, 95% CI 28.9%-69.7%) in symptomatic dengue. The dengue vaccine showed promising efficacy and satisfactory immune response, with TAK-003 showing more consistent performance than CYD-TDV, especially in the absence of heterogeneity between studies. Implications: These findings support the implementation of dengue vaccination with preference for the TAK-003 platform, demonstrating better efficacy consistency to maximize benefits and minimize risk..

Abstract

Urban areas struggle with inefficient mobility, uneven facility distribution, and declining quality of life. The concepts of self-contained neighborhoods and the 15-minute city offer solutions by promoting access to essential services within a 15-minute walk. Nevertheless, empirical studies in fast-growing metropolitan cities in Jabodetabek remain limited, despite their vulnerability to urban sprawl, spatial fragmentation, and unequal access. This study examines residential neighborhoods in the Jabodetabek cities through a household survey that measures walking times to 42 types of facilities, calculated using Google Maps. Data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and a one-sample t-test against the 15-minute benchmark. Results show an average walking time of 16.35 minutes (SD = 4.18), exceeding the target. Basic services like minimarkets, primary schools, mosques, pharmacies, and community halls are accessible within 10 minutes, while non-basic services—including recreation, education, finance, and minority worship—require over 20 minutes. These findings indicate that the surveyed neighborhoods only partially fulfill the self-contained principle. The results are consistent with prior studies highlighting that metropolitan regions face difficulties in implementing the 15-minute city due to spatial imbalances and limited pedestrian infrastructure. In conclusion, residential neighborhoods in Jabodetabek cities have not yet fully achieved the criteria of self-contained neighborhoods. Policy directions should therefore focus on redistributing non-basic facilities, improving safe and comfortable pedestrian infrastructure, and promoting mixed-use development integrated with transit-oriented development (TOD) to reduce reliance on motorized vehicles and enhance urban quality of life.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Estimating normal distribution parameters is one of the fundamental problems in statistics that has attracted the attention of researchers for more than two centuries. This study aims to analyse and compare the performance of six normal distribution parameter estimation methods, which include Method of Moments (MoM), Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE), Least Squares Estimation (LSE), Bayesian Estimation, Percentile Matching, and Generalised Method of Moments (GMM), through a systematic and comprehensive approach. The methodology of this study combines rigorous theoretical mathematical derivation for each estimation method with empirical evaluation through extensive Monte Carlo simulations. Each method was derived mathematically from the basic principle to the final estimator formula, then implemented in a simulation with 500 replications on various sample sizes, i.e. n = 30, 50, 100, and 200, of the normal distribution of N (5, 4). In small samples with n = 30, Percentile Matching showed the highest MSE for   parameter estimation with a value of 0.162, while MoM, MLE, and LSE showed the best performance with MSE for μ parameter of 0.127 and MSE for parameter 0.067. The main conclusions of this study show that MLE provides an optimal balance between statistical accuracy and computational efficiency for most practical applications. Bayesian Estimation shows good stability at all sample sizes and is superior when informative prior information is available.
