Abstract

Teaching anxiety is feeling powerless and experiencing tension in teaching. A high level of anxiety affects the quality of teaching performance and teachers’ teaching resilience. This study aims to describe teaching anxiety levels and coping strategies of EFL novice teachers in teaching four English skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). This study employed a descriptive quantitative design. The data were collected by using online surveys. Total sampling was employed, and ten novice teachers of Islamic schools in Sidrap regency, South Sulawesi, completed online questionnaires adapted from DASS 42 and the COPE scale. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics. The findings showed that EFL novice teachers experience severe anxiety in teaching productive skills (speaking 15.5 and writing 15.1) and moderate anxiety in teaching receptive skills (listening 13.8 and reading 14.8).EFL novice teachers used problem focused strategies more than emotion-focused strategies to combat their anxiety. Keywords: Teaching Anxiety; Coping Strategy; EFL Novice Teachers

Abstract

Time management in group assignments is a key factor in students' academic achievement. However, many students still face challenges in managing their time optimally, which affects team performance quality. This study aims to analyze the influence of self efficacy and self-regulation on students' time management in the context of group assignments. A quantitative research method was employed using a multiple linear regression analysis design. The study sample consisted of 150 active students from IAIN Parepare, selected through a cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring self-efficacy, self-regulation, and time management scales. The results indicate that self-regulation has a significant impact on students' time management, whereas self efficacy does not show a significant effect. These findings suggest that students with strong self-regulation skills are better able to plan, prioritize tasks, and complete assignments on time compared to those who rely solely on self-efficacy. The implications of this study highlight the importance of self-regulation training in academic settings to enhance the effectiveness of group assignments. Therefore, educational institutions are encouraged to develop learning strategies that focus on strengthening self-regulation to support students' academic success.

Abstract

This study explores the utilization of digital learning media in arts and culture education within the context of Indonesian schools abroad (Sekolah Indonesia Luar Negeri/SILN). Through a systematic literature review, the research investigates how digital tools can support the preservation and promotion of Indonesian cultural identity while enhancing student engagement and creativity. The findings reveal that digital media, including interactive multimedia platforms and virtual learning environments, play a significant role in making arts and culture education more accessible, interactive, and relevant for students living in multicultural environments. Benefits include increased student motivation, collaborative learning opportunities, and the development of critical digital skills. However, the study also identifies several challenges, such as limited technological infrastructure, uneven access to digital resources, and insufficient teacher training in integrating technology into culturally rich curricula. The research highlights the need for a more comprehensive approach that includes professional development for educators, curriculum adaptation, and investment in digital infrastructure. While the study is limited by its reliance on secondary sources, it provides valuable insights into the potential and limitations of digital media in global cultural education. These findings contribute to the ongoing discourse on digital transformation in education and offer practical recommendations to enhance the implementation of digital learning in arts and culture, particularly in international school settings.

Abstract

Purpose – This study investigates how different gadget use patterns affect toddler speech develop-ment, addressing concerns about passive screen time limiting verbal interaction opportunities.Design/methods/approach – A qualitative case study design was used to gain in-depth insights into children’s behavior in their social context. Participants were selected purposively based on parental reports of gadget use. Inclusion criteria were toddlers aged 1 year 8 months to 4 years (M = 2.75 years) with typical development and no diagnosed disorders. Exclusion criteria included neurological conditions and prior speech-language therapy. The final sample consisted of 16 toddlers (7 girls, 9 boys), categorized into intensive users (frequent, prolonged exposure to non-interactive content) and limited users (gadgets used mainly for calls or video chats with relatives). Data collection included semi-structured parent interviews (30–45 minutes), naturalistic observation, and developmental screenings by a licensed child psychologist. Validity was ensured through triangulation and member checking. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis involving coding, categorization, and theme development.Findings – Thematic analysis identified three key themes: rich verbal interaction fosters early speech, passive screen exposure hinders language acquisition, and early or unsupervised gadget use disrupts developmental timing. Children with limited gadget use developed age-appropriate speech, used spontaneous verbal expressions, and required no speech therapy. In contrast, toddlers with intensive gadget use showed limited vocabulary, reduced responsiveness, and in many cases required speech therapy. These developmental disparities were closely linked to differences in caregiver interaction, content type, and exposure duration.Research implications/limitations – This study offers contextual insight from Indonesia using triangulated qualitative methods, though its small sample limits generalizability. Broader, mixed-method studies are recommended.Practical implications – The findings emphasize limiting passive gadget use and encouraging active verbal interaction. Parenting programs and early education should promote language-rich environments and conscious media use. Digital tools should support interactive, not passive, use. Early intervention, including parental involvement and therapy, is essential.Originality/value – This study adds to the discourse on early media exposure by offering practical insights for parents, educators, and policymakers to support toddlers’ speech development.Paper type Research paper

Abstract

The integration of Islamic psychotherapy into contemporary mental health and rehabilitation frameworks has gained increased scholarly attention in recent years. This study presents a systematic literature review of peer-reviewed articles published between 2010 and 2025, focusing on the application, effectiveness, and theoretical foundations of Islamic psychotherapy in diverse settings. Utilizing the PRISMA 2020 protocol, 45 articles were selected from databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, and Garuda. Thematic analysis revealed three major trends: the implementation of Islamic psychotherapy within faith-based institutions, the theoretical integration of Islamic principles with Western psychotherapeutic models such as CBT, and outcome-based empirical evaluations. Despite promising findings, the review identified significant gaps in scalability, methodological rigor, and digital adaptation. Few studies explored applications in public institutions or the potential of mobile and teletherapy platforms. The findings underscore the need for a more inclusive, interdisciplinary approach that bridges spiritual values and scientific practice. This study contributes to the development of culturally sensitive mental health strategies and calls for greater integration of Islamic psychotherapy into mainstream psychological services, supported by empirical validation, professional training, and digital innovation
