This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The study's results show that the multicultural classroom program has successfully incorporated Pancasila values into students' daily lives. This has led to positive changes in how they behave toward cultural diversity, such as becoming more independent, working together, and tolerant. The study concludes that multicultural classroom programs have proven to be effective in introducing and practicing Pancasila values in students' lives, both in the school environment and in their social interactions. It's clear from this study that there needs to be a curriculum document to make sure that the multicultural classroom program works with the national goals of building character through Pancasila values in secondary schools.

Abstract

This study explores how formal education preserves local culture through an ethno-learning approach in government-based schools in Cirebon, Indonesia. Using a multisite ethnographic method, the research was conducted over one year in four secondary schools known for integrating Cirebonese cultural values into teaching. The integration of local culture such as tari topeng (mask dance), gamelan, the Cirebonese language, and the Jelajah Budaya (Cultural Exploration) program helps strengthen students’ cultural identity, develop moral character, and foster positive social dispositions. Teachers act as cultural mediators, connecting tradition with contemporary education. Student engagement varies depending on family background and cultural exposure outside school. Challenges include limited resources, inconsistent student interest, and the need for more adaptive, student-centered pedagogies. The study highlights that culture-based education is not merely supplementary but foundational in forming character, reinforcing identity, and promoting cultural sustainability. It argues for a more contextual, humanistic model of education that aligns with local realities while addressing global educational demands.

Abstract

This study investigates the local expertise of Nyangu (traditional rice cooking) in the Sundanese community as a source of cultural character education principles, emphasizing health, food security, and moral-social aspects.  The study uses an integrated literature review strategy to synthesis qualitative and quantitative data from many disciplines, including cultural anthropology, education, and nutrition.  Thematic analysis yielded three key findings:  (1) Nyangu boosts health by producing resistant starch, lowering the glycemic index, and lowering the risk of diabetes and obesity compared to modern rice cookers. (2) It incorporates food security through zero-waste practices, repurposing leftovers into traditional meals (e.g., opak, pepes), and demonstrates sustainable resource management in line with the SDGs.  (3) The practice instills moral-social values such as community eating (botram) and food reverence, which promote social cohesiveness and cultural identity. The conclusions underline the importance of Nyangu in sustaining Sundanese history in the face of globalization, with implications for incorporating its values into official and informal education curricula. This integration can potentially strengthen cultural identity, encourage sustainable practices to counter cultural degradation, and call for a legislative framework linking traditional practices with modern educational institutions.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to dismantle the implementation of the recruitment and selection policy for the Flag Raising Troop (Paskibra) from the perspective of Pancasila character education. The research method uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. Primary data were obtained from official documentation of the implementation of Paskibra recruitment in 514 Indonesian regencies/cities. Secondary data were obtained from laws and regulations, technical instructions, activity reports, and reputable scientific publications relevant to youth policy, character education and Pancasila ideology. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles & Huberman interactive model consisting of three stages: i) data reduction; ii) data presentation; and iii) conclusions. The validity of the findings used triangulation of sources and techniques, as well as repeated verification to ensure consistency of interpretation. The results of the study reveal a dilemma between maintaining national standards (height, age, and passing the Pancasila Ideology Education test) and equal opportunities across all regions. The main challenges include: i) budget limitations; ii) demographic equality; iii) unequal digital infrastructure; iv) weaknesses of the Paskibraka Transparency Application. The research findings yielded strategies including: i) evaluating discretionary policies; ii) strengthening digital infrastructure; iii) increasing the capacity of regional managers; iv) integrating Pancasila character education from the pre-selection stage in schools. Thus, the Flag Raising Team (Paskibraka) can become a strategic vehicle for training future national leaders with integrity, discipline, and a national spirit
