Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the correlation or relationship between the tourism sector and the Original Regional Income  of Maros Regency for the 2014-2023 Period. This study also aims to show the relationship between the three related variables, namely the number of visitors variable, restaurant variable and hotel occupancy variable that are influential in Maros Regency from 2014 to 2023. According to BPS, Maros Regency PAD has a large source of PAD from various economic sectors. Increasing PAD in an area can include job creation and improving community welfare. Tourism is one of the sectors that can be developed into a sector that contributes to PAD with the contribution of levy and tax revenue. The data used is secondary data from 2014 to 2023 for Maros regency obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Maros Regency Youth and Sports Tourism Office. The analysis was carried out by the Spearman Rank test using SPSS 25. The results of the study show that the tourism sector has a correlation or relationship with the PAD of Maros Regency. The restaurant variable had a strong relationship with PAD, while the variable of visitors and hotel occupancy had a strong relationship with PAD. This study also shows that an increase or decrease in the tourism sector has a direct impact on the amount of PAD obtained by Maros Regency, so that the tourism sector can be said to be one of the factors that can determine the stability and economic growth of Maros Regency.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic that struck the world caused a multisectoral crisis, weakened economic growth, and limited people's ability to carry out daily activities. Weakening growth led to a decline in per capita income, which in turn exacerbated income inequality. Income inequality is reflected by the Gini ratio index. In Southeast Sulawesi, the Gini ratio index increased during the COVID-19 pandemic and was consistently higher than the Gini ratio indices for Sulawesi Island and the national average. Therefore, this study aims to examine how economic growth, poverty, unemployment, the Human Development Index (HDI), and infrastructure impact income inequality in post-COVID-19 Southeast Sulawesi. This study employs a quantitative method, using secondary data from 2023 for each district/city in Southeast Sulawesi, obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The analysis was conducted using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method with Eviews 12 software. The results of the study indicate that, partially, the variable of economic growth has a negative and significant effect on income inequality in post-COVID-19 Southeast Sulawesi. The poverty variable has a negative but insignificant effect on income inequality. The unemployment variable has a positive but insignificant effect on income inequality. Meanwhile, the variables of the Human Development Index and infrastructure have positive and significant effects on income inequality. Simultaneously, economic growth, poverty, unemployment, the Human Development Index, and infrastructure collectively influence income inequality in post-COVID-19 Southeast Sulawesi.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to introduce food product innovation through the processing of tofu into Mozzarella Tofu as an effort to increase the economic value of local food ingredients and encourage community entrepreneurial skills. This activity was carried out through mentoring and guidance to participants in Bungoro District, Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency for two weeks. The activity stages included an introduction to tools and materials, an explanation of the manufacturing process, hands-on practice of making Mozzarella Tofu, and an evaluation of the product results. The results of the activity showed that tofu can be developed into a more attractive, practical, and marketable food product by combining it with mozzarella cheese. This product has a savory taste, soft texture, and a melted cheese sensation that can attract the interest of consumers from various groups. In addition, the marketing strategy was designed using the 4P concept, namely product, price, place, and promotion, with direct sales and promotions through social media such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. This activity implies that simple food innovations based on local food ingredients can increase creativity, entrepreneurial skills, and opportunities for developing culinary businesses in the community.
