Abstract

The enforcement of mandatory education programs facilitates funding for primary and secondary schools, aligning with legal provisions designed to boost student engagement. Nevertheless, a stark reality persists, with numerous children unable to attend school, leading to dropouts and an inability to progress. A key factor contributing to this issue is the School Operational Assistance (BOS) not covering essential educational costs like uniforms, books, and shoes. The challenge lies in identifying suitable recipients for Poor Student Aid, hindered by insufficient categorized support data. Addressing this, a targeted solution involves designing a system, utilizing the Analysis Hierarchy Process (AHP) Method. Decisions regarding poor student aid approval would then be grounded in rational, objective considerations. Proactively implementing a structured decision support system is crucial in assigning significance to criteria values and weights, tailored to SD Negeri Baddoka Makassar's needs. Through AHP, the selection process becomes more transparent, measurable, and accountable. The resulting decisions have the potential to enhance the efficiency of providing assistance to those genuinely in need.

Abstract

This study applies Monte Carlo simulation to analyze and compare the Value at Risk (VaR) of two Indonesian airline stocks—PT Garuda Indonesia (full-service carrier) and PT AirAsia Indonesia (low-cost carrier)—using daily return data from January to December 2023. The research examines risk-return characteristics at individual stock and portfolio levels across different confidence intervals (99%, 95%, and 90%). Results reveal that PT Garuda Indonesia exhibits higher expected returns (0.5168%) but also higher volatility (3.5980%) compared to PT AirAsia Indonesia (0.2412% return, 2.4868% volatility), reflecting their different business models. Remarkably, an equal-weight portfolio demonstrates extraordinary diversification benefits, with positive VaR values across all confidence levels, indicating robust downside protection even in adverse market conditions. At 99% confidence, the monetary VaR for a Rp100,000,000 investment shows potential maximum losses of Rp7,984,331 for Garuda and Rp5,460,951 for AirAsia, while the portfolio generates a minimum gain of Rp1,886,373. This study highlights the effectiveness of Monte Carlo VaR in capturing complex risk dynamics, demonstrates significant intra-sector diversification benefits challenging conventional diversification wisdom, and provides insights into how different airline business models translate into distinctive risk-return profiles. These findings have important implications for investment decision-making and risk management in specialized industry contexts, particularly in emerging markets.

Abstract

This study focuses on the implementation of the Multilingual BERT (mBERT) architecture combined with a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model to classify Instagram comments into positive, negative, and neutral sentiments. The primary objective is to support the monitoring of personal branding among recipients of the Bright Scholarship managed by the Baitul Mall BRILiaN Foundation (YBMRILiaN) at the Makassar Regional Office. The experimental results indicate that mBERT is capable of effectively analyzing sentiment from Instagram comments on scholarship awardees from Hasanuddin University and UIN Alauddin Makassar. Using a sample of 10 awardees, the model demonstrates a consistent increase in accuracy across epochs, achieving an average accuracy of 63.87% and a peak accuracy of 73.18% for Awardee 10, with a corresponding loss value of 1.094. These findings highlight the potential of this approach to assist scholarship organizers in systematically evaluating the personal branding of awardees on social media. Moreover, the analysis identifies one awardee whose personal branding performance may require further consideration regarding scholarship eligibility.
