Abstract

Abstract

The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Republic of Indonesia recorded the occurrence of violence against women and children. In the period (1 January - 9 June 2021), there were 2,319 cases of violence against adult women with 2,347 victims and 3,314 cases of violence against children with 3,683 victims. Handling of victims of violence against women (KP) and victims of violence against children (KIA) in hospitals is not yet fully integrated and is similar to other general patient services. Hospital directors and staff must see cases of KP and KIA as cases that should be handled specifically so that victims receive comprehensive services both medically and legally, this paper is expected to be a reference procedure for hospitals that perform clinical forensic services in handling violence against women and children.

Abstract

Incidences of physical, psychological and sexual violence are common in Indonesia and tend to increase. All forms of violence, including domestic violence (KDRT) are violations of human rights and criminal law. KDRT can cause injury to the victim, good, moderate, not to mention psychological trauma. An assessment of the injury in this cases by the clinical forensics is absolutely necessary. A case report of a woman being abused by her husband causing physical and psychological injuries at RSUD dr. Soetomo Surabaya then made a report to the police. Upon examination by a medicolegal forensic expert, a wound that results in illness or an obstacle to carrying out work or living for a while. KDRT in short is an act against someone, causing physical, sexual, or psychological suffering or neglect within the household. Perpetrators can be subject to the PKDRT Law No. 23 of 2004 differs in views that can have the same impact but not in the household scope. Not every violence leaves scars. Even visible wounds have different degrees before the law. The role of medicolegal forensic specialists is needed in clinical forensic cases like this, while the law imposed becomes the authority of the authorities.

Abstract

Suicide is an unnatural way of dying. The prevalence of suicide is still high in several countries, including Indonesia. Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, in Indonesia, there are more than 16,000 suicides every year. The following is a report of a suicide case that was autopsied at Bhayangkara Hospital and carried out for toxicological examination. At the crime scene, a plastic bottle containing a cloudy blue liquid was found around the victim. The results of the laboratory examination of the gastric samples taken during the autopsy and the plastic bottles showed that they contained hydrochloric acid. Article 133, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code explains that there is a need for good cooperation between investigators and forensic doctors to determine the cause of death. Forensic laboratory examination is very helpful in determining the cause of death

Abstract

It is assumed that Mongoloid’s migration came from western and northern part of Indonesia in various waves of migration. The migrant population then mixed with initial inhabitants, which are Australomelanesoid. The wave of migration moved further to the eastern Indonesia and mixed with migrant that entered from east (Papua). Some researches show that the concentration of mixture (hybridization) of migration was around Wallace’s line. Gilimanuk is one of prehistoric site that yields Neolithic human remains. It is assumed that Gilimanuk can give worthy information about human variation at that time. The aim of the research is to describe the human genetic variation at site of Gilimanuk. The material is DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) has been extracted from many piece of bone of Gilimanuk’s human remains. We used STR (short tandem repeat) two loci (THO1 and TPOX) to gain human genetic variation. The result show all of sample yields band with different allele. This evidence confirms that they have a genetic affinity is not the same, or their genes from several population.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia is currently experiencing Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic which affects all sectors of life, therefore Indonesia is starting to prepare for New Normal era, including in health care sector. COVID-19 was previously known as novel Coronavirus Disease-19 (nCoV-19), where World Health Organization (WHO) declared it as a global pandemic in March 2020. New Normal era is an era of coexistence with COVID-19, resulting in new habits that were rarely or never practiced before. One practice that can be applied in health care sector is to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to treat COVID-19 patients to prevent casualties for health workers. Health care providers are prone to contract aerosol and droplet transmission while treating patients, resulting in cytokine storm, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and acute lung injury (ALI), which leads to death. Purpose: This mini review study used to explain the using of artificial intelligence in the new normal era against pandemic COVID-19 in the field of health services. Reviews: This pandemic COVID-19 restricts all of the communication between person to person. It also challenged the health service sector because the health service sector is the first line to combat the COVID-19. It is now popular to use artificial intelligence. This using can be used to help the health service sector in combating the COVID-19 pandemic especially in this new normal era. Conclusion: COVID-19 pandemic affects all aspects of life, especially health care sector, therefore AI use is important to prevent the deaths of health workers because of this pandemic.

Abstract

Forensic experts in uncovering the truth of a case must go through identification, documentation, and collection of evidence. Sometimes at a crime scene, lip prints are found on the surface of an object such as the mouth of a plastic bottle. Lip print research on plastic bottle mouths was carried out for 1, 3 and 7 days. There are 21 samples with details of 3 as controls, 6 samples for the first day, 6 samples for the 3rd day, and 6 samples for the 7th day. DNA extraction using DNAzol, quantification using UV spectrophotometer, and DNA amplification using STR primers, namely TPOX and TH01 loci. For DNA visualization using acrylamide gel. The average results of lip print DNA levels for 1, 3, and 7 days were 369.82 g/ml, 550.72 g/ml, 318.02 g/ml. The average yield of lip print DNA purity for 1, 3, and 7 days was 1.79; 1.78 and 1.79. From the results of DNA quantification, the lowest and highest DNA levels were taken on days 1, 3, and 7. Of the 6 samples and 3 controls amplified using the TPOX and TH01 loci, the results were clearly visible on the acrylamide gel band.
