Abstract

The adolescents who are still growing are in a period of transition from childhood to adulthood. Adolescent girls' nutritional status, especially anemia, must be considered, they even need intervention to prepare themselves to be holistically healthy as adults. Adolescent girl who become a mother, need to learn and avoid chronic protein energy deficiency and anemia. They need to be taught to maintain their nutritional status, so when they enter the life cycle, especially in the first 1000 days of life as part of the golden period of child growth and development, they will be well cared for. Of course, this will also reduce the prevalence of stunting under-fives in the future. In this preventive promotive effort, apart from providing adolescent girls with nutrition education, consumption of blood supplement tablets, anemia screening is also carried out by checking blood hemoglobin levels. Habits and awareness of healthy living and good nutritional status are what we want to instill in community service activities for adolescent girl on the coast of Kupang Regency.

Abstract

Stunting in toddlers occurs due to lack of nutritional intake in the long term, thus sacrificing linear growth. To meet the nutritional needs of toddlers who are growing rapidly, adequate protein intake is needed. Not all families can meet protein needs every time for daily consumption three times a day. This happens because apart from being an expensive source of protein, it also requires a storage area so that the food is not damaged. The purpose of this service is to introduce and teach the practice of making simple technology for cultivating catfish (Clarias spp.) and cultivating kangkong (Ipomoea aquatica) with an aquaponic system (by planting them in a medium bucket). Parents of toddlers learn how to do aquaponics and also provide a source of nutrition for toddlers at the household level. The results of this service indicate that there is an increase in the knowledge and skills of parents on how to make aquaponics; as well as the availability of food sources of protein and vegetables that are sufficient at any time needed for consumption by stunting toddlers.

Abstract

Malaria is one of the parasitic infectious diseases that is still a world health problem, especially in tropical countries including Indonesia. Malaria is still one of the causes of death in both adults and children. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) malaria report in 2020, the estimated number of malaria cases in the world in 2019 reached 229 million cases in 87 malaria-endemic countries, down from 238 million in 2000. Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health regarding the achievement of Malaria Elimination Districts / Cities shows that Indonesia's Annual Paracite Incidence (API) rate in 2020 reached 0.87. Data from the 2021 NTT Malaria Report from the NTT Provincial Health Office shows that in 2021, the number of positive malaria cases in NTT Province was 9,419 cases with an API of 1.72 per 1000 population and 10 cases of death due to malaria. In addition, in 2021 there are 14 districts/cities in NTT classified as low endemic areas, and there are still 3 districts/cities classified as high endemic areas with the dominant species being plasmodium falciparum. Kupang Regency is one of the areas targeted for malaria elimination in 2020. Camplong Village, Fatuleu District, is included in Kupang Regency which is the target of elimination in 2022. Aims and objectives: Increase awareness of the people of Camplong village on the dangers of malaria, malaria prevention and treatment so that the 2030 NTT malaria elimination target can be achieved. Method of implementation of activities: Counseling and treatment Output indicators produced: The implementation of counseling for the community in the Camplong Village area of Hamlet 2 totaling 88 residents consisting of 45 women and 43 men. Conclusion: The activities of malaria counseling and treatment services in Camplong village 2 hamlet 2 RT 5,6,7 are one of the programs that can provide benefits to the community, namely increasing knowledge about malaria, how to prevent and treat malaria. This is very important to improve the health of the Camplong community while helping the malaria elimination program carried out by the government. Similar activities must continue to be carried out and in collaboration with local Puskesmas so that the target of malaria elimination in 2030 for Kupang district in particular and Indonesia in general can be achieved.

Abstract

The prevalence of stunted toddlers in Kupang district is still high, including in the partner area, namely Camplong-II village, Fatuleu sub-district. This village is one of the areas with sufficient water sources and adequate agricultural products, but a few stunted toddlers are still found. Adequate agricultural and livestock production does not guarantee that the nutritional status of toddlers will be good, even though sufficient food is available in the family, if the caregiver does not provide it according to the toddler's needs, the toddler will also experience malnutrition. Data from the Hamlet II Haumeni Posyandu, Camplong-II Village shows that there are 27 stunted toddlers (July 2022). The implementation of preventive promotive services for stunted toddlers or those at risk of stunting is intended as an effort to increase public knowledge about the prevention and handling of stunting. This activity aims to reduce stunting rates by providing counseling, cooking demonstrations, and distributing necessities. The output indicators are increasing knowledge about the prevention and handling of stunting and the use of food ingredients around for food menus. The expected output targets are increasing knowledge and skills of partners to serve nutritious food menus for toddlers and the availability of nutritious food ingredients for toddlers. The availability of protein and vegetable food sources is always needed by stunted toddler partners, so it is expected that two months after harvest, there will be an increase in the weight and height of stunted toddlers. Families who are intervened are expected to be a model for program duplication at other integrated health posts.

Abstract

Hypertension, known as the "silent killer," poses a global threat with potentially fatal consequences. Lifelong treatment, often involving Amlodipine, requires careful management of age, dosage, and administration to mitigate side effects and enhance patients' quality of life. This study at RSUD Prof. Dr. W. Z. Johannes Kupang aimed to explore the correlation between age, Amlodipine dosage, and side effect risks. Utilizing an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach, data from 84 patients, aged 15-70, were collected between May and October 2023. Predominant side effects included edema (38.10%), dizziness (28.57%), fatigue (17.85%), and nausea (15.48%). Findings indicated age (p=0.013) and Amlodipine dosage (p=0.002) correlated with side effect risks. However, administration method analysis was hindered by consistent post-meal consumption in all participants. In conclusion, this research underscores the relevance of age and Amlodipine dosage in side effect risks for hypertensive patients. Practical implications include refined medication management strategies to improve overall patient well-being.

Abstract

Introduction: Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver that can develop into fibrosis (scarring), cirrhosis or liver cancer. As a primary health service facility, the public health centre has an important role in handling Hepatitis B in pregnant women through the Maternal and Child Health program, including triple elimination screening and case management. Case Presentation: A 23-year-old female patient came to the public health centre for routine antenatal care examination (G1P0A0) with a gestational age of 30 weeks and 4 days. The patient had no complaints (asymptomatic), had a normoweight (20,46) body mass index, and had stable vital signs, normal systemic findings on physical examination and obstetric examination. But when a triple elimination examination was carried out by rapid diagnostic test, the result shown a reactive HBsAg. Then the patient was sent to another public health centre for further advance blood test, and the result shown that the woman was positive for hepatitis B with 2.16E08 IU/mL(log 8.33) viral load. The patient are given 1x300 mg Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) treatment along with education by the doctor in charge for Hepatitis division to consume the drug until at least during childbirth, continued until 3 (three) month after delivery. Conclusion: Identification of pregnant women with Hepatitis B can be early detected by using the triple elimination rapid test (Hepatitis B, Syphilis, HIV) as a mandatory examination for pregnant women. Clinical symptoms for hepatitis B are vary, ranging from asymptomatic to symptomatic such as nausea, vomiting, headache, and malaise, loss of appetite, darker colour of urine, followed by jaundice that appears after 1–2 weeks. However, Hepatitis B in pregnancy is mostly asymptomatic.
