Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the pattern of ebony distribution (Diospyros celebica Bakh) and the relationship of microhabitat factors with variable density and dominance. This research was conducted in the Tombolo Resort Balocci Forest Area of Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park in South Sulawesi Province. Data collection is carried out in a plot measuring 100 m x 100 m divided into 100 subplots measuring 10m x 10m, covering the individual number of trees and the area of the base field on each research sub-plot. Microhabitat factors include pH, marbles, soil depth, header closure, and the proportion of sub-plot surfaces covered in outcropping stones. The results showed that (1) the pattern of ebony distribution at the location of this study is clustered, (2) the correlation value of pH and density shows a negative and insignificant relationship (p>0.05), the correlation of marbles with density shows a positive and significant value (p<0.05), the closing correlation of the header, the depth of the soil with a positive but insignificant density (p> 0.05), while the correlation of the proportion of sub-plot surfaces covered in outcrops and densities showed a negative but significant relationship (p<0.05), (3) the correlation value of pH with negative and insignificant dominance (p>0.05), the correlation of the proportion of outcrop stones with negative and significant dominance (p<0.05), the correlation of heading closure, marbles with positive and significant dominance (p<00.05), soil depth correlation and positive but non-significant dominance (p> 0.05).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the coffee commodity value chain within the Community Forest (HKm) scheme in Kindang Subdistrict, Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi. The research focused on mapping the value chain structure, identifying key actors, and examining institutional challenges and strengthening strategies. A descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method was applied. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document reviews, and analyzed using a value chain analysis framework. The results revealed that the coffee value chain is still dominated by middlemen, while cooperatives have not functioned effectively as aggregators. Processing assets such as roasting and grinding machines remain underutilized due to limited technical skills and the absence of a collective production system. Farmers’ income falls in the moderate category (IDR 18.9–20.4 million per year), indicating low value addition. Recommended strategies include improving technical capacity, optimizing the use of processing equipment collectively, product diversification, developing digital marketing channels, and implementing quality-based incentive systems. These findings underscore the importance of institutional strengthening and product downstreaming to enhance the competitiveness of HKm coffee and improve farmers’ livelihoods.

Abstract

Interactive learning methods are one of the alternative learning models that help students express their curiosity and understand the knowledge or concepts they are studying. Emphasis on interactive learning methods is very important to increase student engagement and motivation, especially in learning English in junior high schools. Learning motivation is an important factor that influences students' success in mastering a foreign language. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of interactive learning methods in increasing students' motivation and interest in learning English. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative with the research subjects being class VIIA. Data collection techniques include observation and interviews to explore students' perceptions regarding their experiences during English learning with interactive methods, such as group discussions, educational games, presentations, and technology-based learning media. The results showed that most students responded positively to the use of interactive methods, because it made the learning process more enjoyable, easier to understand, increased self-confidence, trained public speaking, and encouraged active involvement in class. However, some students also conveyed shortcomings, such as the existence of technology so that they rely on the internet to find answers and the interest in book literacy and students decreased. These findings indicate that interactive learning methods can be an effective strategy to increase motivation to learn English, provided that careful planning and adjustments are needed to meet students' needs.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Pair Checks method in improving eleventh-grade students’ ability to distinguish between facts and opinions in discourse texts. Conducted through two cycles of Classroom Action Research (CAR), the study shows significant improvements in student performance, engagement, and collaboration. In Cycle I, students demonstrated moderate improvement in their ability to identify facts and opinions, with an average score increase from 63 to 74.44. However, challenges such as limited student engagement were addressed in Cycle II, leading to further enhancements, with the average score rising to 81.33 and 83.33% of students achieving the minimum competency level. Observational data revealed improved classroom behavior, increased participation, and reduced disruptions, demonstrating the positive impact of the method. The findings support the application of cooperative learning strategies in fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and media literacy. This study highlights the value of iterative refinements in instructional methods and suggests that the Pair Checks method can be an effective tool for enhancing students’ reading comprehension and critical engagement with texts. Future research could explore broader sample sizes and longitudinal studies to assess the long-term impact of this approach.

Abstract

Women's reproductive health is a healthy state both physically, mentally, and socially. One of the reproductive health problems experienced by many women in Indonesia is breast cancer. Breast cancer is a cause of death for women with a relatively high incidence rate in Indonesia when compared to other cancer cases. As many as 70% of breast cancer cases are only detected when they have reached an advanced stage, making treatment difficult. This community service activity aims to provide education regarding early detection efforts through breast self-examination (SADARI) and health checks which are risk factors for breast cancer. This activity uses the service learning (SL) method which is integrated into a research program regarding the analysis of reproductive health problems for women of childbearing age (WUS) in the workplace. This activity was carried out at the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) Jatinangor campus, which was attended by 5 female education staff. The results of the health examination showed that all participants had a normal body mass index (BMI) ranging from 21.2 to 24.4. The results of the vital signs examination showed that 1 participant had hypertension, 1 person had hypotension and 3 others were within normal limits. All participants can practice the awareness steps properly and correctly. Based on participants' suggestions and input, it is necessary to carry out regular reproductive health education activities with various topics so that women's reproductive health can be monitored well, especially for working women who spend most of their time at work.

Abstract

The current complex regional development has encouraged intense competition between regions. To improve people's welfare, local governments need to increase the competitiveness of their regions. the measure of measuring regional economic growth is known as the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP). The purpose of the research conducted by the current author is to measure differences in the development of economic growth in the province of West Sumatra and the districts/cities of West Pasaman using the SLQ & DLQ analytical method, analysis shift shares. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The data used are secondary data, namely research data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of West Sumatra Province and West Pasaman Regency/City in the form of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) data on the basis of constant prices (ADHK). ). The data used are 2018 & 2022, namely research by analyzing the data tested statistically and interpreting them in the form of descriptive sentences. Results from SLQ & DLQ analysts Based on the combined results of SLQ and DLQ analysis during the 2018 & 2022 observation period, the DLQ value> 1. This means that almost all economic sectors have the potential for faster development, and other economic sectors have a DLQ <1, which means that a commodity or sector with a score less than one is not a regional leading sector and still needs special attention for development.
