Abstract

Iron lathe waste powder has the potential as a raw material in the synthesis of hematite pigments. Hematite pigments have many advantages, one of which is anti-swelling properties that can maintain the dimensions of wood. Hematite pigment synthesis was carried out using the precipitation-sonication method. The precipitation stage uses an ammonium hydroxide solution as a precipitating agent. Stages of sonication using the PEG-6000 template were performed at different times were 30, 45, and 90 minutes then calcined at 750 ° C for 3 hours. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), color reader, and scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX). The result confirmed that a ferrihydrite phase obtained after the precipitation process and transform into hematite after the calcination process with the highest degree of crystallinity for 90-minute sonication. From a color reader, the brightness and redness degrees decrease with increasing time. Scanning electron microscope results illustrated that the morphology was not uniform with the particle size getting smaller with increasing sonication time. The EDX results show that hematite pigments still contain impurities such as carbon. The swelling test indicated that the highest stability in hematite-pigmented wood increased as increasing in the weight of pigment.

Abstract

Abstract

The essence of religious moderation lies in transforming the perspectives and attitudes of religious groups toward diversity, rather than moderating the religion itself. This study aims to pinpoint and explore how the ecosystem of religious moderation shapes youth tolerance through religious literacy. The research was conducted in three regions of Indonesia: the western, central, and eastern areas. A total of 350 informants were selected proportionally. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study embraced an exploratory sequential design that integrates qualitative and quantitative methods. Quantitative data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling, while qualitative data were examined thematically. The findings indicate that the Religious Moderation Ecosystem (X1)—which consists of six components: society, education, religion, politics, the state, and the media—significantly influences youth tolerance (Y). Another key finding indicates that religious literacy functions as a mediating variable (Z) between the ecosystem and youth tolerance. The significance of religious literacy as a mediator constitutes the study’s novelty, demonstrating its ability to link the religious moderation ecosystem with tolerant attitudes among young people. These results carry both theoretical and practical implications, highlighting substantial direct and interceded relationships among the ecosystem, religious literacy, and tolerance. Furthermore, religious literacy is capable of mediating all elements of the religious moderation ecosystem in shaping tolerance, marking it as a novel contribution compared to prior research. This study is limited by the restricted number of respondents, which does not fully represent all regions. Therefore, future studies are recommended to explore the ecosystem of religious moderation with a more proportionate distribution of regions, respondents, and informants.

Abstract

This study investigates how the integration of YouTube and artificial intelligence (AI) tools enhances students’ extensive listening skills in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts. The research addresses a key issue in digital language learning: while students frequently use YouTube for exposure to authentic language, the absence of structured scaffolding and strategy instruction often limits comprehension gains. Focusing on this problem, the study explores how AI-assisted tools—such as real-time transcription, automatic subtitles, summarization, and adaptive feedback—can transform YouTube-based listening from passive consumption into active, autonomous learning. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with four purposively selected students from We Learn English Students Course in Palopo, an English language training center. Data collection and analysis followed a three-phase procedure: transcription, member checking, and coding to uncover learners’ strategies, motivations, and perceived skill development. The findings reveal that AI-supported YouTube activities significantly improved learners’ comprehension, pronunciation, and self-regulated learning behaviors. Students demonstrated increased metacognitive awareness, utilizing AI tools to plan, monitor, and evaluate their listening performance. Furthermore, intrinsic motivation and learner autonomy were strengthened, as participants selected content aligned with their interests and received personalized feedback. The study concludes that AI-mediated YouTube engagement fosters a shift “from scroll to skill,” transforming entertainment-oriented digital habits into meaningful language learning experiences. The results underscore the pedagogical potential of integrating AI-driven scaffolding into extensive listening instruction to promote motivation, competence, and learner independence in EFL settings.
