Abstract

Rumah Adat Mabur is one of the most significant cultural tourism assets in Tribur Village, possessing strong historical, architectural, and symbolic values for the local community. This study aims to analyze the tourism potential of Rumah Adat Mabur as a leading cultural attraction and to identify the challenges that hinder the development of the tourism sector in the village. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through field observation, interviews with traditional leaders and residents, and documentation review. This method was used to capture the actual condition, community perceptions, and opportunities for cultural tourism development. The findings indicate that Rumah Adat Mabur holds strong cultural uniqueness, including its traditional architectural design, ancestral values, and its deep connection to community rituals and customs. These attributes make it a promising cultural tourism destination for both local and international visitors. However, the development of this potential remains limited due to inadequate infrastructure, lack of supporting facilities, minimal promotional efforts, and limited community skills in tourism management. Despite these challenges, support from local government, community training, and digital-based promotion strategies present significant opportunities to develop Rumah Adat Mabur as a cultural tourism icon of Tribur Village. The study concludes that Rumah Adat Mabur has strong potential to enhance the local economy and strengthen cultural identity if managed through a community-based tourism model. Planned, collaborative, and sustainable efforts are required to transform this cultural site into a driving force for tourism development in Tribur Village.

Abstract

This study analyzes sustainable management strategies in Kabola Subdistrict, Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The coastal area of Kabola (covering 5.069 km² with a population of 4,398) has dual potential as a coastal tourism destination characterized by scenic coastal attractions and as an economic base for fisheries as the main trading sector. Key fishery resources include tuna, belo-belo, and octopus. The primary objective of this study is to formulate an integrated utilization strategy model, in which the Nostalgia Tourism Forest (located in Buiko) is prioritized for the protection of vegetation and natural freshwater springs as key attractions, in alignment with the sustainable management of marine resources. Methodologically, this research employs a descriptive qualitative approach supported by analyses based on the Environmental Carrying Capacity theory (Ceballos-Lascuráin, 1996) and the Conservation Economy concept (UNWTO, 2005). The findings indicate that the recommended strategy is the integration of community-based governance and the diversification of marine ecotourism, which supports the subdistrict’s mission to enhance community welfare.

Abstract

Otvai Village is one of the villages in Northwest Alor District which is known as the largest clove producer in Alor Regency, with a land area of 198 hectares and a fairly high production every harvest season. The abundant potential of cloves makes Otvai Village have a great opportunity to develop the agro-tourism sector as a form of economic diversification based on local resources. This research aims to analyze the potential of cloves as a leading commodity, identify opportunities for agrotourism development, and review the supporting and inhibiting factors that affect its implementation. The research method used is qualitative descriptive by examining data on the potential of natural, social, economic, and village infrastructure. The results of the analysis show that Otvai Village has the main strength in clove production, a natural landscape that supports plantation tourism, and the existence of local cultural elements to support tourism activities. However, several obstacles such as damage to road infrastructure, low tourism support facilities, and lack of promotion are the main challenges in agrotourism development. This study recommends strengthening tourism village governance, improving infrastructure, and diversifying processed clove products as a community-based agro-tourism development strategy.

Abstract

In Aimoli Village, North West Alor District, Alor Regency, there is a community-managed MSME called Ma Netha. This is a local production unit that develops various herbal products such as candlenut oil, virgin coconut oil (VCO), and red ginger powder. These products are produced using abundant local raw materials and modernized traditional processing techniques. This study aims to analyze the herbal product development strategy implemented by Ma Netha and identify factors that support product competitiveness at the local level. The method used was a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that product innovation, raw material quality, and hygienic production processes are key factors in increasing product sales value. Furthermore, local community support, raw material availability, and production skills strengthen Ma Netha's position as a competitive herbal producer. This study confirms that developing herbal products based on regional potential can be an effective strategy for increasing the economic independence of rural communities.
