Abstract

Has done research on the isolation and identification of compounds alkaloids contained in the komfrey (Symphytum officinale L.) from Toraja. The aim of this research is to determine alkaloid contained in komfrey with infra red spectrophotometry the results from two dimensional thin layer Chromatography a fraction using silica gel GF254 stationary phase and mobile phase chloroform: methanol (8:2) form a blue color staining with Rf value of 0.82 and a positive result is suspected alkaloids. From the results of identification using infrared spectroscopy, results show komfrey suspected to contain alkaloid compounds. mean 0,81 %.

Abstract

A research has been conducted to determine the contents of heavy metals Cu and Cd in the sediment of shallow sea water Buton Strait, Muna by using Atomic Absorption Specthrofotometric instrument. The results show that average contents of these metals in mg/Kg of dry sediment are Cu = 4,3 mg/Kg and Cd = 24,4 mg/Kg respectively. These results of Cu metal are lower than the threshold value that could given effect according to the manual of sediment quality from Febris and Werner,(1994), but results of Cd metal could be concluded that the values would be approach to the refference values. In other words, coastal environmental quality with the heavy metal in critical condition, until the special handle would be needed for reducing the accused of the metals.

Abstract

Lignin are high molecular weight phenolic polymers that occur as major constituents of vascular plants. As a result of their natural abundance, wide distribution, and resistance to microbial degradation, lignin are also commonly found in soil and sedimentary organic matter. The aim of this study was to identify the contribution of lignin to the suspended particulate fraction in the Losari Beach and Lae-lae Island, where indicate highly degraded lignin materials. Lignin was characterized by oxidative degradation, cupric oxide being chosen as the most suitable oxydizing agent to produce simple lignin-derived phenols that are extracted with hexane and analyzed by capillary gas chromatography on fused silica columns, provides the high sensitivity and precision required for the identification and quantitation of trace levels of lignin in seawater. A suite of up to 8 phenols is produced that reflects the relative concentration and plant tissue sources of lignin present in the suspended material.

Abstract

Suspended solids are the main ingredients forming precipitates that can inhibit the ability to form organic compounds in coastal and marine waters. This study aims to determine the concentration of Total Suspended Solid (TSS) in coastal and marine waters of the west coast of South Sulawesi collected in different seasons, namely October 2017 (dry season) and March 2018 (rainy season). TSS concentrations generally higher in the rainy season (34-47 ppm) compared to the dry season (10-25 ppm). On location, higher TSS concentrations were obtained in the Tallo river waters, namely 10–47 ppm (28.9 ± 13.4 ppm) compared to locations in Pangkep river waters 14–43 ppm (27.4 ± 11.2 ppm). The results showed that the Total Suspended Solid (TSS) in marine waters and still comply with the limit values set by the Ministry of Environment (MOE).

Abstract

Stable carbon isotopes have been commonly used as indicators for assessing environmental changes in aquatic ecosystems. They can be used to study the dynamics of organic matter as for understanding the overall functioning of the ecosystem, the connectivity of estuaries with terrestrial and marine coastal habitats. The objective of this study is determining the seasonal natural effects over isotopic (13C/12C) baselines in monitoring CO2 storage in dissolved inorganic materials in Spermonde waters on the west coast of South Sulawesi to some outermost island. The results show that the stable carbon isotopic of DIC (d13C-DIC) in the wet season varied between -5.36 ‰ and -7.74 ‰. These value are higher than on dry season (-4.34 ‰ to -6.82 ‰). Likewise, DIC concentration in the rainy season ranged between 9.5 mg C/L and 11.7 mg C/L, while in the dry season it varied from 8.5 mg C/L to 9.3 mg C/L. The d13C-DIC and DIC concentrations decreased towards offshore, up to some of the outer islands. Increasing in the d13C-DIC in Spermonde waters indicate that the DIC is most likely enriched by atmospheric CO2(g), which is outnumbered those of aquatic photosynthesis. This study shows that different levels and composition of d13C-DIC stretch along different rivers are attributable to the varying landscapes and quality of organic matters.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan teknik deteksi ion logam Fe(III) menggunakan nanopartikel perak sebagai sensor pada spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Nanopartikel perak disintesis melalui metode reduksi kimia dengan reduktor natrium sitrat, kemudian ditambahkan agen penstabil kitosan yang diikat silang dengan formaldehid. Selanjutnya, nanopartikel perak yang telah dimodifikasi dengan kitosan-formaldehid direaksikan dengan ion Fe(III) pada berbagai variasi konsentrasi dan sinyal absorpsinya diamati menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nanopartikel perak-kitosan-formaldehid berhasil disintesis yang ditandai dengan perubahan warna dari bening menjadi kuning kecoklatan dan munculnya serapan maksimum pada λ = 416 nm. Saat berinteraksi dengan ion Fe(III) pada berbagai variasi konsentrasi, serapan maksimum nanopartikel perak yang distabilkan kitosan-formaldehid relatif tidak mengalami pergeseran, tetapi muncul serapan SPR pada λ = 480 nm. Berdasarkan uji kinerja analitik pada daerah SPR, dapat dinyatakan nanopartikel perak yang distabilkan kitosan-formaldehid memiliki kinerja yang baik sebagai sensor ion Fe(III) dengan nilai presisi 0,12%, akurasi 0,075 ppm, nilai linieritas (R2) 0,924 pada rentang konsentrasi dari 1-50 ppm dengan persamaan regresi y = 0,0015x + 0,1646, serta nilai LOD dan LOQ secara berturutan 0,106 ppm dan 0,235 ppm.

Abstract

Abstract Diabetes mellitus is a multifactorial disease that requires long-term care because it involves major changes in the physical and psychosocial dimensions of each patient. Early public education about diabetes mellitus is an important element to avoid complications of this disease. In addition, the community has never carried out early detection and screening of blood sugar. This community service is aimed at implementing a community-based education program that facilitates the community in increasing knowledge about early detection and self-care for Diabetes Mellitus in Gantarang Keke Village, Bantaeng Regency. The method of implementing community service consists of two stages, namely: 1) the preparation phase includes health counseling with a lecture method to the Gantarang Keke Village community 2) the implementation phase includes the implementation of an implementation program in the form of blood sugar screening. The results show that with the education carried out through counseling about diabetes mellitus, the Gantarang Keke Village community began to understand about Diabetes Militus, its causes, and management through lifestyle changes and can carry out healthy lifestyles, eating patterns / life style that can be done alone at home simply to be implemented as one of the prevention and maintain blood sugar levels. Abstract

Abstract The problem that occurs in the Paropo sub-district, Panakkukang district, Makassar, is the large number of family heads with high dependence on the using of cleaning soap from dirt on an object. The results of a conducted survey, people generally switch to using liquid dishwashing soap, due to the many advantages of liquid soap, also practical because it is available in bottle form. However, limited funds, lack of knowledge about chemicals how to make liquid soap, and how to make it, until finally becoming an obstacle in opening up business opportunities going forward. The material was delivered through counseling using a combination of lecture, discussion and evaluation methods, and also continued to provide training with demonstrations on how to make liquid soap. From the community service activities, it provides enormous benefits to the community. It can be seen from the community's desire to make liquid soap independently for use among their families. Then start ordering raw materials to provide guidance in terms of good and durable packaging, so that this activity becomes a mover in marketing the results of the home industry.

Abstract

Pesticides is chemical substances and other materials as well as microorganisms and viruses that are used to control various plant-disturbing organisms. Early public education about pesticides is an important element to avoid increasing exposure for farmers or workers in the spraying division of plant pests. In addition, the community has never carried out early detection and feels that they are already immune and are used to the pungent smell of pesticides. This service activity is carried out with the aim of implementing a community-based education program that facilitates the community in increasing knowledge about early detection and preventive efforts against the using of pesticides that do not meet the requirements in the application of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) principles in Gantarang Keke Village, Bantaeng Regency. Methods of implementation this community service consists of two stages, namely: 1) the preparation stage includes health counseling with the lecture method to the community of Gantarang Keke Village; 2) the implementation stage includes the implementation of the implementation program in the form of implementing K3 correctly and safely. The results show that with education carried out through counseling about the application of K3 to the people of Gantarang Keke Village, they begin to understand about the safe and correct using of pesticides, as well as the use of Personal Protective Equipment in accordance with the requirements in K3 principles.

Abstract

Limbah B3 (bahan berbahaya dan beracun) yang semakin meningkat dikhawatirkan menimbulkan dampak yang lebih luas terhadap kesehatan masyarakat dan kualitas lingkungan hidup. Limbah cair merupakan masalah utama dalam pengendalian dampak lingkungan. Masuknya zat pencemar dari limbah ke perairan mengakibatkan karakter fisika dan kimia dari sumber daya air berubah. Agar dapat memenuhi baku mutu, limbah cair harus diolah secara terpadu, baik yang dihasilkan selama proses produksi maupun setelah proses produksi. Pengelolaan limbah cair di dalam proses produksi dimaksudkan untuk meminimalkan volume, konsentrasi, dan toksisitas limbah. Pengelolaan limbah cair setelah proses produksi dimaksudkan untuk menghilangkan atau menurunkan kadar bahan pencemar yang terkandung di dalamnya, sampai limbah cair memenuhi syarat untuk dapat dibuang (memenuhi baku mutu yang ditetapkan). Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yang dapat mereduksi zat pencemar yang ditimbulkan adalah metode Adsorpsi. Dua manfaat yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah perolehan sumber adsorben alternatif baru dan penanganan limbah laboratorium. Teh sebagai bahan alami aman bagi lingkungan, ampasnya mudah didapat sebagai limbah industri minuman teh. Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan diperoleh kadar logam berat timbal yang mampu diserap oleh karbon aktif ampas teh dengan konsentrasi aktivator H2SO4 (5%, 10%, 15%, 20% dan 25%) berturut-turut adalah 9,823 ppm, 9,839 ppm, 9,864 ppm, 9,884 ppm dan 9,906 ppm dengan efisiensi serapan berturut-turut yaitu 98,23%, 98,39%, 98,64%, 98,84% dan 99,06%.
