Abstract

Basic Trauma Cardiac Life Support (BTCLS) training is crucial for emergency preparedness among high school students. This study evaluated the effectiveness of BTCLS training for Al-Fityan Private High School students, focusing on skill acquisition and knowledge retention.A pretest-posttest design assessed the BTCLS training program's efficacy using a validated research instrument. The instrument's validity and reliability were established through content validation, construct validation, and internal consistency measures (Cronbach's Alpha). The program, integrated into the school curriculum, was delivered by certified healthcare professionals and emphasized hands-on practice.A paired t-test compared BTCLS knowledge and skill scores before and after training. Results showed statistically significant improvement from pretest (M = X, SD = Y) to posttest (M = X', SD = Y'); t(df) = t-value, p < 0.05. The mean score increase was Z (95% CI [lower bound, upper bound]), demonstrating a substantial positive effect on students' emergency response capabilities. The significant improvement in test scores suggests the BTCLS training program effectively enhanced students' knowledge and skills in trauma and cardiac life support. This aligns with previous research indicating that early skill acquisition in high school students can improve bystander intervention and potentially increase survival rates in emergencies. The study demonstrates the feasibility and importance of integrating comprehensive life support training into high school curricula. Future research should explore long-term skill retention and the broader community impact of BTCLS-trained high school students.

Abstract

Healthcare Information Systems (HIS) play a critical role in modern medical services by improving patient data management, clinical decision-making, and overall healthcare efficiency. However, existing HIS models face challenges related to interoperability, security, and processing efficiency. This study conducts a systematic literature review to evaluate cloud-based, blockchain-enhanced, and AI-driven HIS solutions. The proposed hybrid HIS model integrates AI-driven decision-making with blockchain-based security to enhance accuracy, interoperability, and data protection. The evaluation metrics include accuracy, latency, and security score, comparing the proposed system with state-of-the-art HIS implementations. Experimental results indicate that the hybrid HIS model achieves 93.4% accuracy, a security score of 0.90, and reduced latency (220 ms), outperforming traditional cloud-based and standalone blockchain solutions. These findings demonstrate that a hybrid approach balances efficiency and security, making HIS more practical for real-world applications. Future research should focus on real-world deployment, computational cost reduction, and regulatory compliance.

Abstract

The floods that struck Medan City between late November and early December 2025 significantly affected the psychosocial wellbeing of children aged 4–7 years living in evacuation shelters. Children in this developmental stage are highly vulnerable to stress, anxiety, and behavioral changes following disaster exposure. This community service program aimed to implement an Integrated Psychosocial Support Model designed to promote emotional recovery among children and strengthen the capacities of parents and shelter facilitators. The methods included play-based psychosocial activities, safe digital literacy education, parental engagement sessions, and capacity-building for local volunteers. The intervention was conducted at two evacuation shelters in Medan Labuhan and Belawan, involving approximately 220 children. The results demonstrated substantial improvements in adaptive behavior indicators—group participation, ability to follow instructions, positive emotional expression, and peer interaction—with an average increase of 1.25 points. Social transformations also emerged, including the establishment of child-friendly spaces, enhanced supportive parenting practices, and the rise of local leaders within the community. These findings indicate that integrated psychosocial support is an effective approach for post-disaster child recovery and can be replicated in similar humanitarian settings.

Abstract

The impacted community's basic requirements have not been met as a result of the natural disaster that struck Aceh Tamiang Regency. In order to guarantee that aid is targeted, particularly for vulnerable populations (toddlers, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities), the Community Service program aims to distribute integrated logistical assistance and give distribution assistance. Benua Raja Village, Bukit Tempurung Village, Purwodadi Village, and Rantau Village were the four impacted villages where this exercise was carried out on December 7, 2025. Involving the community and volunteers, the strategies employed included gathering and delivering logistical support, distributing bundles of necessities, and offering distribution support all the way to the end. The activity's findings show that, in spite of obstacles brought on by difficult environmental circumstances and restricted access, community-based distribution and the integrated logistics package approach can increase assistance distribution's accuracy, transparency, and accountability. This program not only provides for the basic requirements of the community but also enhances local volunteer talents and humanitarian networks. Aid distribution was more successful thanks to the integrated logistical strategy and field support, which may be repeated in subsequent flood situations. It is intended that this initiative will serve as a template for adaptable and long-lasting community service approaches to disaster relief

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and telehealth has significantly transformed disaster response capabil- ities. Nonetheless, a pronounced "digital divide" poses a risk of exacerbating health inequities, particularly in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), where disaster vulnerability is most pronounced. Objective: This systematic review seeks to examine the adoption of digital health technologies in disaster nursing, identifying socio-technical barriers and facilitators through the application of the NASSS (Non-adoption, Abandonment, Scale-up, Spread, and Sustainability) framework. Methods: In accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines, a systematic search was conducted across Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, and CINAHL for articles published between 2020 and 2025. Studies focusing on nursing roles in disaster contexts were included. The quality of the studies was assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). Results: A total of 42 studies were synthesized. The review revealed a stark dichotomy: High-Income Countries (HICs) prioritized AI-driven predictive modeling and data privacy, whereas LMICs concentrated on basic connectivity and mHealth solutions. Key barriers in low-resource settings included infrastructural deficits (unstable power/internet), lack of digital literacy among frontline nurses, and unsustainable pilot projects. Conclusion: While digital health holds immense potential, its current implementa- tion is inequitable. To bridge the digital divide, future interventions must prioritize "frugal innovation" resilient, offline-capable technologies designed for resource-constrained environments rather than uncritically importing complex systems from developed nations. Policy frameworks must also address the foundational digital literacy of the nursing workforce.
