Abstract

This article analyses the reconstruction of Jalaluddin Rumi's thought in the context of globalisation to understand how his teachings adapt to contemporary dynamics. Rumi, as an important figure in the Sufi tradition, offers concepts such as universal love, existential unity, and mystical experience that have been translated and presented in various formats for a global audience. This research shows that globalisation has enabled the wide dissemination of Rumi's teachings through digital media and integration with modern spiritual practices, but also poses challenges regarding the preservation of the authenticity of the teachings. The findings show that despite the risk of distortion, Rumi's teachings remain relevant and influential in an increasingly connected world. This article recommends further research into how Sufi thought is adapted and sustained in various cultural contexts, as well as the impact of globalisation on the integrity of the teachings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of work discipline of lecturers teaching Pancasila Education courses at the University of Madura based on student perceptions. Lecturer work discipline is an important factor that affects the quality of the learning process and student motivation in attending lectures. This study uses a descriptive approach with an in-depth study of five lecturers who teach in various faculties, namely the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Agriculture. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and observations, then analyzed thematically to identify patterns and meanings of student experiences related to lecturers' work disciplines. The results of the study show that lecturers' work discipline includes punctuality, material readiness, responsiveness to students, and consistency in evaluation which directly impacts learning effectiveness. Student perceptions confirm that disciplined lecturers motivate them to be more active and serious in participating in the learning process. Although there are obstacles such as administrative burdens that affect the consistency of lecturer discipline, lecturers' commitment to work discipline still has a significant positive impact. This study recommends that educational institutions provide adequate support to lecturers in managing workload and developing policies that encourage the implementation of optimal work discipline. Further studies are suggested to expand the scope of the sample and use data triangulation to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the factors that affect lecturers' work discipline and their impact on the quality of education.

Abstract

Abstract

Household waste management is a major challenge for cities in Indonesia, including Bugih Subdistrict, which has experienced an increase in waste generation in line with population growth and lifestyle changes. This issue is not merely a matter of cleanliness, but is directly related to environmental health and the quality of life of the community. This study aims to describe and evaluate the implementation of a community service programme in the form of education, facilitation, and assistance in community-based waste management in Bugih Village. A participatory approach was used, involving village officials, neighbourhood associations, family welfare organisations, youth organisations, and residents as the main actors. The intervention focused on improving environmental literacy, household waste sorting practices, small-scale composting, and the use of eco-bricks as educational tools. The results showed a significant increase in awareness and waste sorting practices, as measured through pre- and post-surveys and field observations. Active community participation proved to be a key factor in the success of the programme, reinforced by facilitation in the form of providing clearly labelled sorting areas and technical demonstration sessions. The existence of local waste banks also served as an economic incentive and ensured the integration of sorted waste into the recycling chain. The programme evaluation confirmed that the combination of education, facilitation, and behavioural nudges had a positive impact, although challenges such as limited facilities and behavioural consistency still need to be addressed. Conceptually, these findings reinforce the literature on the effectiveness of community-based approaches to waste management and provide practical recommendations for replication in other urban areas. The programme in Bugih Subdistrict contributes to the achievement of the national zero waste–zero emission 2050 agenda, while strengthening local capacity to create a healthier and more sustainable environment.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse political discourse in the media space in Indonesia using a critical discourse approach. The main objective of the research is to understand how political discourse is constructed, presented, and received in various types of media in Indonesia, as well as to reveal its impact on public opinion and the democratic process. Through critical discourse analysis, this research attempts to identify patterns, rhetorical strategies, and biases that may be contained in political narratives delivered by mass media. The research method involves collecting data from various media sources, such as newspapers, television, radio, and online platforms, which are then analysed using a critical discourse approach. The results reveal that the construction of political narratives in the Indonesian media is often influenced by certain political and economic interests, which reinforce framing in accordance with a particular agenda. In additionn, various rhetorical strategies, such as the use of emotional appeals, analogies, and emphasis on authority, are also used in political reporting to influence public opinion. The findings also show that political discourse in the media tends to accentuate opinion polarisation, political personalisation and stereotyping, which directly affects political participation and decision-making processes.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Microenterprises play a strategic role in improving rural community welfare, particularly through the utilization of local resources. Jaddung Village, Pragaan Subdistrict, Sumenep Regency, has abundant spice potential, yet it has not been fully utilized as a source of economic income. This community engagement program aimed to develop microenterprises through culinary innovation with the “Mandala” instant fried rice seasoning product while empowering local communities, especially housewives and youth. The method used was Participatory Action Research consisting of several stages: identifying local potential, conducting training on instant seasoning production, providing entrepreneurship mentoring, implementing digital marketing strategies, and evaluating program sustainability. The results showed that community partners successfully produced hygienic instant seasoning products with a unique blend of Madurese and Thai flavors, packaged in simple but marketable designs. SWOT analysis revealed that the strengths of the product lie in its natural ingredients and distinctive taste, weaknesses in limited capital and production scale, opportunities in the growing trend of healthy instant food, and threats from established commercial competitors. The program had a positive impact on improving production skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, and household income. In conclusion, the Mandala seasoning innovation proved effective as a microenterprise model based on local culinary resources and has the potential to be replicated in other villages with continued support from government and higher education institutions.

Abstract

Human development is a theme that has long been a concern in various philosophical traditions. The philosophies of Hegel and Confucius offer two different yet complementary approaches to understanding the process of human development. Hegel, with his dialectical theory, views human development as a historical process that occurs through social conflict and changes in individual self-consciousness within the framework of history. According to Hegel, individuals can only achieve full self-awareness through interaction with society and larger social changes. Meanwhile, Confucius, in his morality and virtue-focused thought, viewed that human development lies in the formation of good moral character, which is reflected in harmonious social relationships and appreciation of virtuous values. This research aims to compare the two concepts of human development and explore the similarities and differences between the views of Hegel and Confucius. The results of the comparison show that both philosophers agree on the importance of social interaction in human development, although they differ in their focus Hegel emphasizes the role of history and social conflict, while Confucius emphasizes moral virtue and harmonious social relations. The findings show the relevance of both philosophies in the modern context, both in the fields of education, social ethics, and developmental psychology. The study also shows that the thoughts of Hegel and Confucius can be further applied to solve contemporary social problems such as social inequality and character building in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

This community service programme was implemented in the coastal community of Padelegan Village, Pademawu Subdistrict, Pamekasan Regency, with a focus on strengthening health literacy and behaviour-based disease prevention at the household level. The background of the activity is based on the vulnerability of coastal communities to health problems related to hygiene, household drinking water management, and environmental cleanliness, as well as the need for an approach that not only increases knowledge but also encourages consistent preventive practices. The programme aims to improve residents' ability to understand and use health information in an applicable manner, while strengthening key disease prevention behaviours through education and mentoring. The activity will be carried out from February to April 2025 with a behaviour-based education design combined with practice demonstrations and community mentoring, involving 48 participants (40 residents/households and 8 posyandu/PKK cadres). The stages included initial assessment, development of KIE media (brief modules and leaflets/posters), two education-demonstration sessions, two home mentoring sessions, and final evaluation. The evaluation was conducted using pre-post knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) assessments and practice observation through a checklist. The results showed an increase in health literacy and improved consistency in preventive behaviour; knowledge increased from 5.4 to 7.8, and compliance with hand washing at critical times increased from 41.7% to 72.9%. Programme outputs included an information, education and communication (IEC) package, a household monitoring checklist, and capacity building for cadres as local facilitators. It was concluded that the integration of participatory education, practical demonstrations and cadre mentoring has the potential to be effective in encouraging preventive behavioural change in coastal communities, with recommendations for integrating monitoring into the routine agenda of integrated health service posts (posyandu) and community empowerment groups (PKK) and for follow-up monitoring for 3–6 months to maintain the sustainability of practices.

Abstract

Limited legal literacy among village officials may contribute to disorderly village administration, inconsistent document formats, weak record-keeping, and poor archive traceability, ultimately affecting public service quality. This Community Service Program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PKM) aimed to strengthen the legal literacy of village officials in Larangan Luar Village, Pamekasan Regency, to improve orderly and accountable village administrative governance. The program applied a hands-on training model combined with mentoring/document clinics and a pretest–posttest evaluation involving village officials (n = 18). Implementation consisted of three core training sessions and two mentoring sessions over four weeks, focusing on document legality, official correspondence standards, numbering and registers, and basic archive management. Results showed an increase in the average legal literacy score from 54.1 (pretest) to 74.6 (posttest), an improvement of 20.5 points. Beyond knowledge gains, document quality and administrative order improved through the adoption of practical administrative tools developed during the program. Key outputs included a concise module (±22 pages), 10 village administrative document templates, one village administrative SOP, and a simple filing system based on document classification and folder numbering. In conclusion, strengthening village officials’ legal literacy through practice-based training and mentoring effectively supports improvements in village administrative governance and is potentially replicable in other villages in Pamekasan with context-specific adjustments.
