Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Islamic digital media use on the learning motivation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) students at SDN 293 Aek Manyuruk. The development of digital technology in education provides both opportunities and challenges in shaping students’ learning behavior and spiritual awareness. This research applies a quantitative descriptive method with survey techniques, distributing questionnaires to students and interviewing PAI teachers to strengthen the data. The findings show that Islamic digital media such as learning applications, Islamic YouTube channels, online Qur’an platforms, and interactive games significantly influence students’ motivation in learning PAI. Students who actively use Islamic digital media tend to show greater enthusiasm, concentration, and consistency in studying religious materials. The results of the correlation analysis indicate a strong positive relationship between the use of Islamic digital media and students’ learning motivation, with an r-value of 0.68. This study concludes that integrating Islamic digital media in PAI lessons can create an engaging and spiritual learning atmosphere that increases students’ motivation and religious understanding. Teachers are advised to guide students in using digital media responsibly to ensure it supports, rather than distracts, their learning process.

Abstract

The lack of English textbooks that integrate Islamic values with contextual pedagogy remains a significant challenge in madrasah education, limiting teachers’ ability to deliver meaningful and character-oriented instruction. This study aims to develop an Islamic-contextual English textbook and examine its effectiveness in strengthening teacher competence. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, encompassing analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The participants involved 5 English teachers and 30 students in a madrasah setting, while three experts participated in the validation process. Data were collected through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, expert validation sheets, and pre-test and post-test instruments. The questionnaire demonstrated high reliability with a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of α = 0.87. The findings revealed that the developed textbook achieved a validation score of 88%, categorized as “very valid” by expert reviewers. In terms of practicality, 87% of teachers reported that the textbook was easy to implement and effectively supported classroom instruction, while 85% of students found the materials engaging, relevant, and meaningful. The effectiveness analysis showed a significant improvement in learning outcomes, with the mean score increasing from 60.5 in the pre-test to 82.3 in the post-test. Furthermore, the normalized gain score reached 0.65, indicating a moderate improvement, while the effect size analysis yielded d = 0.80, which falls into the large effect category. The implementation of the textbook also contributed to strengthening teachers’ pedagogical and professional competence, particularly in integrating Islamic values and contextual learning approaches into English instruction. This study concludes that the development of an Islamic-contextual English textbook provides an innovative, valid, practical, and effective solution for improving teacher competence and supporting meaningful English language learning in Islamic educational contexts.

Abstract

Students' prior knowledge is an important factor in determining learning success, especially in Islamic Cultural History (SKI) subjects that require an understanding of historical concepts and values. This study aims to analyze students' prior knowledge through the application of the Make and Match method on the Khulafaur Rasyidin material at MAN 1 Mandailing Natal. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with 32 students in class X-K as subjects. Data were collected through learning observations, interviews, and documentation. The Make and Match method is applied once at the initial stage of learning before the delivery of material to map the readiness and initial understanding of students. The results of the study show that the students' prior knowledge is diverse and tends to be factual, with most students only knowing the names of the Khulafaur Rasyidin figures. An interesting finding shows that the application of the Make and Match method can increase student activity, interaction, and cooperation, including among students who were previously passive, making this method effective as an initial strategy for active and contextual SKI learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the teaching preparation of students participating in the Islamic Religious Education and English Education Field Experience Program at MAN 1 Mandailing Natal. The success of the learning process depends on teacher preparation; this preparation includes planning learning materials, mastery of the material, method selection, and the mental and pedagogical readiness of the student interns. This study used qualitative and descriptive methodologies. PPL students, supervising teachers, and school officials were observed, interviewed, and documented to collect data. The results showed that the PPL students of the Islamic Religious Education and English Education Programs were well prepared to teach, especially in creating lesson modules and mastering the material. However, several obstacles remained. These included limited teacher experience, classroom management, and adapting learning methods to student characteristics. As a result, supervising lecturers and mentor teachers require more intensive guidance and mentoring to ensure the quality of preparation and implementation of PPL students' learning improves.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminatory power of multiple-choice questions on the material of Da'wah, Sermons, and Tablig for class XI at MAN 1 Mandailing Natal in the 2025/2026 academic year. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative, with 20 class XI students as subjects. Data were collected through a learning outcome test instrument, which was then analyzed using Microsoft Excel. Validity analysis was carried out using the Pearson Product Moment correlation formula, while reliability was calculated using the Cronbach Alpha formula. The results showed that out of 10 questions, there were 7 valid questions and 3 invalid questions. The reliability value (R₁₁) showed a very high level of consistency, so the instrument can be categorized as reliable. Analysis of the level of difficulty showed 30% of the questions were easy, 50% were moderate, and 20% were difficult, while the discriminatory power analysis showed 60% of the questions were categorized as good, 10% were sufficient, and 30% were poor. Overall, the test instrument is considered to be of good quality and suitable for use as an evaluation tool for Islamic Religious Education learning, although several items need to be revised to achieve more optimal construct suitability

Abstract

This study aims to describe the innovation of using case cards in teaching Akidah Akhlak (Islamic beliefs and morals) at MAN 1 Mandailing Natal. Case cards are designed to present real-life problems related to moral values, thereby encouraging students to think critically and actively participate in the learning process. This study uses a qualitative approach with a classroom action research design. Data collection techniques include observation, student response questionnaires, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the use of case card media can increase student activity, facilitate understanding of religious ethics material, and foster a reflective attitude towards moral issues in everyday life. Thus, case card media can be used as an alternative innovative learning media in religious ethics learning.
