Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ISPA) is one of the most contagious diseases and the most common cause of death that occurs in children in developed countries. The mortality rate caused by ISPA is almost four million people every year, and 98% is caused by Acute Respiratory Infection. Pneumonia cases in 2018 decreased, in 2013 the percentage of pneumonia was 1.6% while in 2018 increased to 2.0%, and Bunut Public Health Center obtained an ISPA proportion from the year 2018 – 2020 amount of 16%. The purpose of this research was to find out the behavior of ISPA prevention in the work area of Bunut Public Health Center Pelalawan Regency. This research employed a quantitative research cross-sectional analytic approach. This research was conducted from August – September 2021. The respondents in this research were 70 respondents in the work area of Bunut Public Health Center Pelalawan Regency. This research employed univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analysis. The research results that obtained p-value < 0.05 were such as immunization status variable (p=0.000) with POR = 32.763, occupation variable (p=0.024) with POR = 0.183, parents’ role variable (p = 0.032) with POR = 5.300 and not correlated variables namely attitude (p=0.917) with POR = 0.918, education (p=0.649) with POR = 1.403, smoking (p=0.299) with POR 0.649. Parents’ role is necessary for increasing awareness about the danger of ISPA and parents’ active role towards the infant and toddler health status and to give complete basic immunization to prevent ISPA even though the parents are busy working.

Abstract

The Community-Led Total Sanitation Program is an approach to change sanitation hygiene behavior through triggering activities, which has not fully achieved the national target yet. Due to inadequate environmental sanitation, especially in suburban areas, health problems are increasing from year to year. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of Community-Led Total Sanitation Program on a sustainable environment in the suburban settlement. This was a qualitative study with an action research approach in three districts located in the suburb of Siak River. The participants of this study were residents who lived on the banks of the Siak river and the holders of the Environmental Health Program at the Public Health Center. Data were collected through direct observation and in-depth interviews regarding the Open Defecation Free (ODF) program, handwashing with soap, household food and beverage management, household waste management, and household liquid waste management. This study found that the community-led total sanitation program in the suburban of the three sub-districts of the city of Pekanbaru was not well implemented yet, especially in the ecological aspects of the Open Defecation Free (ODF) program, waste management, and liquid waste management program. Economically, the implementation of the program by non-governmental organizations had not been supported. Socially, health workers and community leaders had provided education related to environmental sanitation and obtained a level of interpretation above 70%. Therefore, the sub-districts and health public centers are recommended to keep educating both the community and the provincial health office in terms of allocating budgetary assistance for communities who live in the suburbs of Siak River.

Abstract

Implementation of convergence in an integrated stunting prevention program is already a national policy specified in Presidential Decree Number 72 of 2021 concerning Accelerating the Reduction of Stunting. Meranti Regency as a Regency in Riau province which is the location of the focus of stunting has not implemented efforts to reduce stunting in accordance with the convergence action guidelines. The coverage of the stunting prevalence rate in Meranti Islands Regency in 2022 is 17.5%. The research objective was to obtain in-depth information about the implementation of the stunting reduction program through convergence action in Meranti Islands Regency in 2023. This type of research is qualitative with a case study approach. There were 9 informants consisting of several related stakeholders, namely the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) as the holder and implementer of the stunting program. The triangulation used is the triangulation of sources, methods and data. The results of the research show that support policies in an effort to reduce stunting cases refer to Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021 and Meranti District Regent Regulations, the quantity of human resources, facilities and infrastructure and funding is still lacking. Planning, convergence implementation, monitoring and evaluation of stunting reduction have been carried out in accordance with Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021 and there are still obstacles in planning and implementing activities. The implementation of stunting reduction convergence in Meranti Islands Regency was able to reduce the stunting rate in 2019-2022 from 25.10% to 17. 5% or almost 2.5% annually. Bappeda and the head of the health office should work together to carry out ongoing advocacy to the local government and DPRD to obtain policy and financial support in efforts to prevent stunting in Meranti District

Abstract

Maternal and child health (MCH) services stand as pivotal components of Public Health Centers, serving to enhance the well-being of both mothers and children. In light of this, optimizing the management of MCH programs becomes imperative. However, data from the Siak District Health Office in 2020 unveiled that the Tualang Public Health Center exhibited lower MCH program accomplishments in comparison to its counterparts within the Siak District. This study, therefore, strives to procure insights into the knowledge, attitudes, health promotion initiatives, and family backing pertinent to MCH services during the COVID-19 pandemic within the operational sphere of Tualang Public Health Center, Siak District. Employing a qualitative approach underpinned by the phenomenological method, this research involves primary informants encompassing expectant mothers and mothers of young children. Supplementary informants encompass spouses or guardians, along with key stakeholders like the Head of Tualang Public Health Center, the Responsible Party for the MCH Program, and Health Promotion Officers. The research methodology encompasses in-depth interviews and meticulous observations, followed by a data analysis fortified by source and data triangulation. Findings underscore a dearth in mothers' understanding of MCH services, juxtaposed with positive attitudes towards them. While health promotion initiatives for MCH services appear underutilized, familial support surges to its zenith. As a synthesis of these findings, it's deduced that MCH services within the operational precinct of Tualang Public Health Center, Siak District, have yet to attain optimal efficacy. In this regard, it's advocated that Tualang Public Health Center orchestrate succinct workshops or extend educational outreach to various stakeholders, including Subdistrict Heads, Village Chiefs, Religious Leaders/Tabligh Teams, District/Village PKK (Family Welfare Movement) Activators, Health Cadres, and Family Planning Field Officers.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of a child's growth disorder, namely the child's height is shorter (dwarf) than the standard age, which is <-2 SD. Kampar Regency is one of the highest-ranked stunting rates in Riau Province in 2018 which is 31.99% and increased in 2019 to 32.05%. The purpose of this study was to analyze the stunting management strategy in Bangun Sari Village, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The study used qualitative methods through in-depth interviews, observation, and document review with 8 research informants. The results obtained are that there is still a lack of allocation of village funds budgeted by village officials. The health promotion provided has not been well received by the community. The inter-sectoral support that has been established has been running quite well. Food security has been provided and distributed, but in reality, the food aid is not consumed well by the community due to poor parenting by parents. Monitoring and evaluation have been carried out quite well. The conclusion of this study is that the commitment, vision, mission, health promotion, cross-sectoral support, food security, and monitoring of stunting have been sufficient and distributed by the UPTD of the Kampar Kiri Hilir Health Center.
