Abstract

The Tenggerese community is a community that inhabits the area commonly called "Tengger village". The community trust of the Tengger Tribe towards Mount Bromo and Mount Semeru is very large, so that it has created a close relationship between the people of Tengger Tribe and nature. The ethnobotany study is expected to not only be a documentation of traditional knowledge in the use of plants for subsequent generations, but also as one of the capital in the development and preservation of biological natural resources, especially for the use of traditional medicines in the Tengger tribe. This research is qualitative research. The results of the study indicate the occurrence of the Tengger Tribe Knowledge, Beliefs and Local Wisdom Inventory in Probolinggo Regency, with the decline in Tengger tribe knowledge and belief in the nature and benefits of medicinal plants. This was caused by the success of the health program by the government so that many residents took advantage of modern medicine when they were sick, Tengger Tribe who lived in Lumajang Regency showed the use of plants in every religious or cultural ritual or treatment, based on the teachings of their ancestors which is often done in the community around the informants from generation to generation. The Tengger tribe who lives in Pasuruan Regency shows that the rituals have been carried out from generation to generation and there are no special rituals when using the medicinal plants. The perceptions, attitudes and behavior of the community regarding the Tengger tribe medicinal plants in Probolinggo Regency showed a mediocre attitude because they had rarely used it as well as other forms of behavior, namely informants had not used the medicinal plants anymore, except for a few the older ones in the remote Tengger Mountain. In Lumajang, the type of traditional medicine in the Tengger tribe is actually still perceived and responded to quite positively by informants doing treatment in the traditional way within certain limits. However, they are more open to the patterns of modern medicine, especially among the younger generation. in Pasuruan Regency, residents perceive medicinal plants as plants that can treat a disease that they know from their ancestors before. Inventory of medicinal plants in the Tengger tribe domiciled in Probolinggo Regency there are at least 3 types of plants that are still used for medicinal purposes in the face of health problems such as red ferns, fennel and saffron plants. Whereas in Lumajang Regency uses include sugar cane plants, dlingu plants and banana plants for cases of health problems. The use of medicinal plants in Pasuruan Regency includes: dringu plants, black mustard greens, fennel, besides that there are also castor plants, muscle flour, ciplukan fruit, amethyst plants and ganjan plants. Abstract

The incidence of heart attack is one of the highest causes of death in the world and Indonesia. East Java ranks second highest for people with heart problems who risk getting a heart attack. The farmers had a high-risk factor for heart disease due to an unhealthy lifestyle (high-fat diet, smoking, caffeine consumption, and exposure to pesticides). Farmers in Suci Village, Panti District, Jember Regency also have the same risk. Farmers in the Sacred Village had a high enough risk of a heart attack. This is the reason for the Mulyo Farmers Group Association (Gapoktan), Suci Village, Panti District, Jember Regency, to be empowered in dealing with this problem. The purpose of implementing this service is to create a heart-friendly agricultural area in Suci Village by downstream the research results of the proposer team, increasing knowledge, attitudes, and skills of Gapoktan about BHD, and forming a group of volunteers for BHD Gapoktan Tani Mulyo. The method used starts with initial identification with partners, formulation of activities, implementation of activities, and final dissemination. The result is that Tani Mulyo's Gapoktan has been empowered to become a BHD volunteer. The results of our program implementation were evaluated by giving pretest and post-test questionnaires, which we analyzed with a dependent t-test. The result showed that there was a significant increase in the variables of knowledge (p=<0.001), attitude (p=0.003), and skills (p=<0.001) from Tani Mulyo's Gapoktan. With the implementation of this service, Tani Mulyo Gapoktan has been empowered to become a BHD volunteer to create a heart-friendly agricultural area.

Abstract

Men who have sex with men (MSM) are the most vulnerable key population in the transmission of HIV AIDS. They have closed behavior that makes it difficult for health programs to reach. This study explores the structural dimensions of MSM with HIV in preventing HIV AIDS transmission from the perspective of social networks and associations among MSM with HIV. This qualitative study with a grounded theory approach was conducted in Jember. Data were collected by using in-depth interviews with 12 HIV-positive MSM. Data were analyzed with the stages of codes, categorizing, and basic social-psychological processes. The triangulation is used to obtain the validity of the information. Being an MSM group for a long time, related to social networks and associations. The social network perspective is built through gathering activities with fellow MSM communities, gathering in cafes, boarding houses, own homes, rented houses, town square, and night entertainment places. Providing health information, safe sex, asking for HIV tests, and monitoring ARV is more manageable through the same HIV-positive MSM. The involvement of HIV-positive MSM in social activities or other environments can reduce the stigma and discrimination. From the association's perspective, to facilitate the socialization of HIV AIDS prevention are carried out through social activities. A few HIV-positive MSM use herbal medicine and do not believe in ARV. Regular peer group support activities can provide a correct understanding of the importance of ARV to minimize the risk of loss to follow-up. Elements of social networks and associations through peer group supports involved in social activities can facilitate communication, information, and education; also, controlling sexual behavior prevents HIV AIDS transmission. The policymakers need to strengthen community-based associations.

Abstract

Background and purpose: Jember District has adopted a tobacco control policy, Jember Regent Regulation No. 27 Year 2013 that includes provision on regulating tobacco advertisement. This study aims to evaluate the policy implementation based on the availability of information and standard operational procedures (SOPs). Methods: This was a qualitative case study which was conducted in Jember District in 2020. Eleven informants were interviewed, consisted of policy actors, billboard building owner, tobacco factory, and student group for tobacco control. Data were collected through in-depth interview, observation, documentation, and triangulation. The data was then analysed thematically. Results: Information related to the policy was well comprehended by the implementers, but not by the community. The information is usually conveyed in conjunction with the coordination process between agencies, which is during field assessment. The observation for monitoring and evaluation in 2020 showed that there were tobacco billboards placed around the health facilities and government agencies, and one of them did not include the “18+” information. The SOP for this policy is the same as the standards for billboard installation permits in general. The barriers to this policy implementation were in regard to clarity of the main duties and functions of each implementer, especially when there was a violation, since it yet been outlined in the current SOP. Conclusion: Implementation of the regulation yet optimal from the availability of information and SOPs aspects. Policy dissemination as well as improvement on the SOP is needed to improve coordination process, monitoring, and evaluation.
