Abstract

Background: Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) remains a global issue wich is in line with the third SDGs, Indonesia having the third highest MMR in ASEAN at 189 per 100,000 live births. To reduce MMR, Indonesia implements the Childbirth Planning and Complication Prevention Program (P4K), but there are still many shortcomings that require further study on the factors affecting its implementation. Methods: The research method uses a Systematic Literature Review. Journal search terms are formulated using the PICO(S) framework. The literature search in this study used two databases, namely the National Library and Google Scholar. Results: The research results showed that 7 out of 10 articles explained that the successful implementation of the program was caused by the communication skills of midwives as health service providers, human resources, budget, dispositions and policies, bureaucracy and standard operational procedures, facilities and infrastructure. Meanwhile, the 3 articles explained stated that the success of the program was caused by the knowledge, attitudes and family support of pregnant women. Conclusions: The program's success is mainly attributed to factors like midwives' communication skills, resources, budget, policies, and infrastructure, while a smaller focus is placed on the knowledge, attitudes, and family support of pregnant women.

Abstract

Pace Village is one of the largest coffee producers in Jember Regency. The majority of the population of Pace village are coffee farmers who are members of a combined farmer group consisting of 10 farmer groups with each group having approximately 10-20 farmers. During the coffee harvest season, the remaining coffee husk waste products are still not utilized optimally, generally the remaining coffee farming products are sold at a very cheap price, namely around 8 thousand per/large bag. This is our main reason as a service team to provide added value to coffee skin waste by providing training and practice in improving the skills of coffee farmers in managing and processing coffee skin waste. The activity began with a request from partners to provide counseling, practice and assistance in managing and processing post-harvest coffee skin waste. Participation in service activities involves an active coffee farming community of 50 farmers. The result of this activity is that Gapoktan members have knowledge and skills in managing and processing coffee husk waste into raw material for coffee husk flour which can later be further characterized into bio plastic, bio pellets, animal feed mixture, block compost, cascara peat, bio pop, bio briquettes and other processed products that have added value so that they can provide additional income, especially for coffee farmers in Pace village, Silo sub-district, Jember district. Through the community service activities carried out, the hope is to increase the skills and income of partners in managing and processing coffee skin waste into raw material for coffee skin flour.

Abstract

The incidence of heart attack is one of the highest causes of death in the world and Indonesia. East Java ranks second highest for people with heart problems who risk getting a heart attack. The farmers had a high-risk factor for heart disease due to an unhealthy lifestyle (high-fat diet, smoking, caffeine consumption, and exposure to pesticides). Farmers in Suci Village, Panti District, Jember Regency also have the same risk. Farmers in the Sacred Village had a high enough risk of a heart attack. This is the reason for the Mulyo Farmers Group Association (Gapoktan), Suci Village, Panti District, Jember Regency, to be empowered in dealing with this problem. The purpose of implementing this service is to create a heart-friendly agricultural area in Suci Village by downstream the research results of the proposer team, increasing knowledge, attitudes, and skills of Gapoktan about BHD, and forming a group of volunteers for BHD Gapoktan Tani Mulyo. The method used starts with initial identification with partners, formulation of activities, implementation of activities, and final dissemination. The result is that Tani Mulyo's Gapoktan has been empowered to become a BHD volunteer. The results of our program implementation were evaluated by giving pretest and post-test questionnaires, which we analyzed with a dependent t-test. The result showed that there was a significant increase in the variables of knowledge (p=<0.001), attitude (p=0.003), and skills (p=<0.001) from Tani Mulyo's Gapoktan. With the implementation of this service, Tani Mulyo Gapoktan has been empowered to become a BHD volunteer to create a heart-friendly agricultural area.

Abstract

Indonesia is home to various natural disasters, including earthquakes and tsunamis, due to its location in the Ring of Fire. Jember Regency in East Java is one of the areas with a high risk of these disasters. Sabrang Village, bordering the South Coast of Jember, has the potential to become a disaster-resilient village. This program aims to increase disaster preparedness for children on the south coast, optimize partner empowerment in increasing child preparedness, and establish a Disaster Empowerment Center (DEC) in Sabrang Village. The DEC program was implemented over three months, involving coastal children. Methods included education, training, and empowerment through Communication, Information, and Education (IEC) and disaster simulation training. Program evaluation used a preparedness questionnaire covering participants' knowledge, attitudes, and skills. The DEC program succeeded in increasing disaster preparedness for children in Sabrang Village. Collaboration with the village government, public health center, and other partners was crucial to the program's success. DEC implementation can serve as a model for community empowerment in dealing with earthquakes and tsunamis.

Abstract

Background: Drug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR/RR-TB) requires a complex treatment regimen, such as BPaL (bedaquiline + pretomanid + linezolid) and BPaLM (with the addition of moxifloxacin), with a shortened duration of 6–9 months and cure rates of ≥90%. This study aimed to analyze the health literacy level of drug-resistant tuberculosis patients at Ngagelrejo Primary Health Center, Surabaya. Methods: The research employed a quantitative cross-sectional approach involving 30 TB-RO patients as respondents. Data were collected using the Health Literacy Questionnaire (HLQ) and analyzed through univariate and bivariate methods using the Chi-Square test. Results: The health literacy level of drug-resistant TB patients at the Ngagelrejo Community Health Center was in the fairly good category and showed a significant correlation with education level. However, there was no significant association between health literacy and age, gender, or medication adherence. Conclusion: These findings confirm that health literacy is a crucial component in managing drug-resistant TB therapy, despite that it does not play a sole role in determining adherence. To improve treatment success, health literacy strategies need to be directed toward a participatory, communicative, and technology-based approach.
